Maggie was in her element. She'd somehow gotten permission to host a "slumber party" for the ladies that weren't on duty that day, and she was gonna have fun!! She padded around the female officer's barracks-a place she'd not seen the inside of since about her first week on Meropis (between sleeping around and finally settling on Achilles, she'd only seen it to clean it on her day, and even then, her idea of "cleaning" was to bribe someone else to do it). It was a total wreck, but the blonde Frenchwoman was clever. There wasn't much "decorating" to be done, because who did that unless you were under 13?! Holidays were one thing, random fiestas were another. She did, however, have some food, and separated the large barracks room into "catergories". There was an area for fashion shows and makeovers, one for food, and the rest for dancing, chit chat, and shenanigns.

She poured some chips out into a bowl, some pretezles into another, and made sure the veg tray was uncovered. The ladies were bringing their own booze, but she charmed the kitchen into some soft drinks and water. There would be some pizza, as well, later on, and everyone had been encouraged to bring a snack. SHE had popped some popcorn-it was low calorie if she didn't put butter on it, and filling. If she were careful, she'd only need to run for an hour the next day.

She stood back, and admired her handiwork. This was going to be just like parties in High School, only funner! She pulled the satin robe closer to her. This was what passed for Maggie as casual; she'd considered borrowing a pair of shorts and a T-shirt from Achilles, but she thought someone would recognize it, and she didn't want to risk that...yet. Now, all there was to do was wait.

Ahrima had been urged not only by her Jaffa superiors, but by her commanding officers here on Meropis to interact with the Tau'ri more socially. Clearly, sparring and slamming them repeatedly on the mats did not qualify. She certainly wasn't interested in the 'Slumber Party' that Maggie had invited her to. Ahrima would have been content to remain in her quarters or training in the gym. However, as Maggie explained that it was a 'girls only' affair, Ahrima found herself intrigued by the idea. Having grown up under the rule of the Goa'uld Artemis, it seemed intriguing that the Tau'ri had possibly clung to such ideals that she was likely used to.

Ahrima hadn't asked for specifics. She had only been instructed to dress comfortably. And so, she put on the uniform she wore as a member of Artemis' Honor Guard. Stepping into the woman's barracks and spying Maggie in her chosen attire, Ahrima quickly deduced that something was wrong. Her eyes narrowed as she examined her teammate's choice of apparel or lack thereof. She then proceeded to inspect her surroundings. There was food... pillows... pink... and... make-up? Ahrima stared down at her own attire. She didn't understand. Where were the weapons? The sparring ring? Even the men to mount? Ahrima finally began to move towards Maggie.

"Maggie Lefebvre," Ahrima began, "What is the purpose of this function? Your words suggested that it was a celebration for females only." Ahrima looked around once more and shook her head. "This does not look like any celebration that I am accustomed to." She paused as she searched for the proper Tau'ri phrasing. "I appreciate the invitation. Now, may I depart and take my leave of this function?"

Maggie smiled at Ahrima. She couldn't believe the alien had actually shown up...but what was she WEARING?! Was that a battle uniform? Maggie raised a manicured eyebrow at her friend, while the Jaffa spoke in her robotic way.

It's for FUN, Ahrima. What do parties look like where YOU come from? You looked like you're going to a hillbilly wrestling match. Seriously, all the woman needed was a six-pack of Budweiser and a toothless boyfriend called Bubba and she'd fit the stereotype.

I appreciate the invitation. Now, may I depart and take my leave of this function? Maggie shook her head, her blonde hair flying about.

You most certainly may NOT. Look, you're supposed to learn about our customs, right?! What better way than THIS? I will help you, don't worry. and maybe Eastlyn will come along, as well. You will know people! PLUS, I have it on good authority that one of the scientists procured a movie... While she talked, Maggie forcefully dragged Ahrima forward, and placed her firmly in a chair, and handed her a plate of chips* and pretzels. Here, eat this. It will help with your nerves. She smiled again.

"Cool it, Mork. THIS is called a pajama party."

"A pajama party?" Ahrima's brow furrowed as she tried to recall the Tau'ri vocabulary. It was certainly not something that she was accustomed to using. "Sleeping apparel? You are hosting a party involving sleep apparel? I fail to understand the significance."

Ahrima could understand the idea, but the reason for this particular custom was nothing short of confusing. She could recall many of the celebrations that she had endured during her life. There was the Coming of Age celebration, when the young maidens were finally recognized as warriors. Naturally, there were victory celebrations after hard fought campaigns. And then, there were the Mating Festivals, though those were rarely spoken of to outsiders. "I believe I am roughly 46 of your Earth cycles in age," Ahrima remarked. "Jaffa anatomy allows me to easily consume more of these calories of which you speak. I believe one of your Earth doctors said that I would... grow old gracefully." Ahrima's eyes narrowed at the comment. "I believe she was trying to insult me. Her demeanor was not very pleasant during the examination."

Though Ahrima did attempt to leave this particular function, it seemed Maggie had other ideas. The last thing she was going to do was allow Ahirma to leave. The Jaffa listened as the French officer spoke, but she continued to contemplate a manner to take her leave without disrespecting Maggie.

"You most certainly may NOT. Look, you're supposed to learn about our customs, right?! What better way than THIS? I will help you, don't worry. and maybe Eastlyn will come along, as well. You will know people! PLUS, I have it on good authority that one of the scientists procured a movie... Here, eat this. It will help with your nerves."

Ahrima took the plate and stared down at it. She lifted a chip from her plate and examined it. "The texture of this is quite crude." Ahrima dropped the chip back onto her plate and then examined her hand. She frowned as she felt a greasy substance on the tips of her fingers. "What manner of beast does this come from?" She then turned to look at Maggie once more, and then down at her own attire. "I do not appear to be in possession of the proper attire for this function. I... do not possess any slee-... pajamas. Will my chosen attire offend any of your other guests?"

[Elly Clark]

Elly Hadn't originally wanted to go to this party however she hadn't gone to last few and she wasn't as shut in as she might have appeared to them at least. After finally deciding to go, she remembers it had been a Pajamas/comfortable clothes, to be honest Elly hadn't packed too many of those, though she did have some. She went wearing some dark blue track pants, a plain grey-white t-shirt, and her hair in a short pony tail.

Coming into the Military officers quarters wasn't so usual for her, however she wasn't one for the military ceremony, even if she worked for the Canadian Defence Department and was around a lot of Military around Home World Command, the SGC and here. Stepping into the barracks with a six pack of beers and the movie Maggie had requested from one of the lab techs who had unfortunately been recalled in.

The physicist did a double take as she saw the conflicting styles of Maggie, a silk robe and the almost Armour yet very provocative, yet flattering garb of Ahrima. She only really caught the end of what the Jaffa said but Elly couldn't help but smile as she said it. "Not Really, for something akin to Armour it seems to um... 'fit' you quite well, not too masculine," She approached the two, it was clear pretty much every part of Jaffa society took much more care of themselves physically than humans. "Mel Wilkins from the lab said you wanted this." Elly offered the movie to Maggie.  "But if you really want I could go and get you my hockey jersey?" Elly tugged on her jersey, though she felt Ahrima probably wouldn't take it, she didn't seem the self conscious type. "I brought some drink and a block of chocolate, anywhere in particular you'd like it?" Elly hoped she hadn't offended Ahrima, that might entail some sort of fight to the death or other very dangerous ritual.

At first blush, a passers-by might peek into the room, and see Maggie and Ahrima, and think that they were close girlfriends. They had a similar appearance-tall, fit, blue eyed blondes, but that is where the similarities ended. Anyone who stuck around for a moment would learn that the two women were polar opposites. While Ahrima was serious, and slightly conservative (given that she was an alien), Maggie was reckless, noisy, and scatterbrained.

Ahrima fussed about the party after Maggie made it clear she was going to stay.

A pajama party?...Sleeping apparel? You are hosting a party involving sleep apparel? I fail to understand the significance. Maggie made a face, squinting her normally-perfect face into one akin to that of someone who had smelled sulfur.

It's for FUN, Mork. And gossip, and maybe even a little bit of personal growth. See, the plan is to get everyone SUUUPER loaded, and then we get the goods! The drunker the friend, the looser the lips. And pajamas, Ahrima. Because the uniforms are gross, and street clothes are uncomfortable. For Maggie, this much was true; she wasn't more comfortable than she was now, unless she were naked.

As Ahrima spoke, Maggie started to braid the woman's long blonde hair into an intricate style. Maggie had an eye for fashion, and could tell at first glance what hairstyles suited someone. Ahrima looked well with her hair up, but Maggie was mindful of her "mark," and so left it looser in the front, just in case Ahrima was self-concious about it.

I believe I am roughly 46 of your Earth cycles in age...Jaffa anatomy allows me to easily consume more of these calories of which you speak. I believe one of your Earth doctors said that I would... grow old gracefully.I believe she was trying to insult me. Her demeanor was not very pleasant during the examination. Maggie nodded conspiratorally.

Doctors are idiots. But she's right, you ARE aging gracefully. Me, I have to WORK at it. Do you think I wake up like this?! No. I have to work hard, Ahrima. No one understands that... Maggie trailed off before finishing her braid, and securing it with an elastic before stepping back to admire her work. She would show the Jaffa woman later. Ahrima tasted a chip.

A beast called a potato. Some call it a vegetable, but it's highly caloric. It's favored in it's regular state by the Irish and Germans. The Russians like to make spirits with it, while the Americans prefer to deep fry it. We French, though...we don't eat a lot of potatoes. Unless you're Burgeois, then you will mash it. Maggie wrinkled her nose.

Finally, it seemed that Maggie had "won," and Ahrima settled back in defeat.

Hiya, Shortstop. Thanks... she took the video that Elly extended to her. Some dumb American RomCom, but it WAS Tom Hanks, so that would be fine.

Mel Wilkins from the lab said you wanted this...But if you really want I could go and get you my hockey jersey?..I brought some drink and a block of chocolate, anywhere in particular you'd like it? HOCKEY jersey?! Maggie's eyes flickered over Elly's outfit, and she tried not to judge the woman. Maybe the rest of her clothes were in the wash, kind of like how Maggie had to go commando on Thursdays because all her underwear was dirty.

Oh, just put it any ol place. Thanks for coming. Fancy some chips? Maggie didn't know what else to say. It would FIGURE it'd be a nerd to show up first.

"Loaded? On what?" Ahrima asked. Understanding Tau'ri customs was hard enough, but the various vernaculars made it even more of a trial. Of course now it appeared that they may actually be conducting some manual labor, which Ahrima would admittedly find herself more comfortable with.

Ahrima sighed as she took a seat. And as she did, Maggie proceeded to braid her hair. Ahrima considered objecting, but soon found her protest quelled by nostalgic familiarity she found herself experiencing. If only for a moment, it was if she were back on Sartorus. Her mother Ky'Rae would sit behind her, braiding a young Ahrima's hair while she'd insist that it be no different than the hair of her sister, Sh'Tal. And as quickly as the moment rushed in, and seemed to slip from Ahrima's thoughts like sand between one's fingers. Maggie had been just spoken of having to work to maintain her appearance. "Nutrition and fitness are essential for me as well," Ahrima said before partaking of the potato chip. Her brow furrowed. Surely, the Tau'ri didn't eat this.

"This is a vegetable?" Ahrima asked to make certain, more disturbed by it's categorization rather than the various types of cuisines the humans had crafted for the food. "Why not just eat it raw, or heat it?" Ahrima sat the chip back down on the plate. "You butcher what nature offers."

"Probably, but who cares? Why do you care what other people think?"

"I do not," said Ahrima. "However, you said this was a good way to learn your customs." Ahrima mentally assumed she should probably consider purchasing some pajamas, if only for events such as this. It seemed an odd custom, however, to have attire merely to sleep in. Was there something wrong with sleeping as nature had intended. Ahrima didn't voice her confusion, and actually found that they weren't alone as the Analyst, Elly Clark arrived with a few items in tow. Ahrima was now beginning to wonder if she should have brought additional supplies for this party. By this time, Maggie had finished with her hair, and had cleverly left some of the strands to conceal the mark of Artemis on her forehead.

Initially, Ahrima had considered to continue to bear the mark of the Goa'uld as a reminder, but as time passed, she truly began to consider the offer of the Tau'ri to surgically remove it. It seemed they had excelled in the art of surgical metamorphosis. Besides, there were other ways to bear such a reminder. Many of the soldiers marked themselves with ink among the Tau'ri. Perhaps it was worth considering.

Ahrima stared down at her armor and then back at Elly. "It was designed with my measurements," Ahrima explained. "And this particular armor is exclusively reserved for Artemis' Honor Guard, who are all women. No man would ever be in possession of such attire." The compliment had sadly gone completely over the Jaffa's head.

"Hiya, Shortstop. Thanks... "

It seemed that Maggie was in the habit of renaming everyone as opposed to using their given designations. If this was a Tau'ri custom, then why would they even bother with names altogether?

"Mel Wilkins from the lab said you wanted this...But if you really want I could go and get you my hockey jersey?"

Ahrima searched for the reference and then nodded. "That will not be necessary," Ahrima said. She did have some appreciation for the Tau'ri sport. She didn't care much for the chasing of the black rock around the ice, but the actual combat that took place was the most exciting. It just didn't happen frequently enough in Ahrima's opinion. She then recalled she should be exercising what the Tau'ri socially favored: manners. "Thanks, Shortstop." She attempted to use the term of favor that Maggie had, hoping that she had done so correctly.

"Thanks for coming. Fancy some chips?"

Hearing the offer, Ahrima turned her eyes towards Elly. "I would not recommend it."

It had been a little odd to see the two blondes, though it was still fairly obvious to Elly who was who, Ahrima certainly was distinctive compared to most others the the base, it was clear she wasn't even the average Female Military person, that she was somewhat more, a Jaffa really, but she was trying to think of other terms, though really most didn't quite fit right.

However the Jaffa seemed to miss her intended compliment though the inferred higher place for women did intrigue her a little. "It was designed with my measurements, And this particular armor is exclusively reserved for Artemis' Honor Guard, who are all women. No man would ever be in possession of such attire."

Elly nodded a little. "Well, forgive me for my ignorance, but was Artemis a Male or Female Goa'uld? even though really most symbiotes don't exactly have a gender likes Humans or Jaffa, but I guess that Honor guard was a sight to behold for the men..." She said casually, even she could appreciate a good looking woman from time to time, particularly these ones, since they weren't models in a magazine, it probably wasn't harmful.

"Hiya, Shortstop. Thanks..." Elly just smiled at Maggie's comment, hopefully it wouldn't continue for long, or when they'd all had a few, Elly had started a fight or two in her time, it had often ended poorly for her, but it was the spirit that counted right? Once Elly handed Maggie the movie Ahrima spoke.

"That will not be necessary,Thanks, Shortstop." Elly held in a sigh but couldn't stop her eyes from rolling, before leaning toward Ahrima's Ear. "Please, Call me Elly or Eliska if you must that being my actual first name, I know you don't meant it like she does, with your technical English and all." She hoped Ahrima wouldn't take offence, she would let Maggie get away with it because well that seemed the flavor of dealing with her, it seemed everyone who had tried had come up with the live and let live policy being best for themselves in particular.

"Oh, just put it any ol place. Thanks for coming. Fancy some chips?" Elly looked down at the chips then at Ahrima when she spoke up seemingly in concern. "I would not recommend it." Elly smirked. "not a fan of chips? you should try popcorn or chocolate." Elly offered Ahrima the Chocolate block.

"It might just be plain milk chocolate, but I'm not one for over complicated foods, takes to much effort to make and then eat, properly, do the Jaffa have eating customs?" She had wondered that for a while now, not that Elly participated in many of the human pre meal customs, such as blessing, giving thanks grace that sort of stuff. Elly took a few chips and began to eat a couple as she awaited Ahrima's reply.

[Jaya Bakshi]

Jaya was wondering if she were insane right now. She probably WAS, but she couldn't really resist a pj party. She had three sisters, of which she was the youngest. In traditional Indian family-not that hers was traditional, because four girls wasn't exactly encouraged in Hindu society-the daughters slept together in the same room. In India, and later in the UK, her two oldest sisters had shared, but when her family had finally made it to California, her two eldest sisters had one room, she and her third oldest sister shared the second, and her parents, of course, had their room. There had been one bathroom for the four girls...

She poked her head around the doorway. THIS was what the Officers' barracks looked like?! COOL. She smiled.

Hi. This is the party thing, right? I brought some grape soda... She was only 19 so she wasn't technically allowed to drink, though she had a sneaking suspicion no one would mind. However, she dind't want to rock the boat, and she was, for all intents and purposes, a "good" girl. She also had a hot dish to share. NOW that was probably going to get her in a lot of trouble-having a single-burner stove for cooking in her quarters-but she was Hindu and it was hard to keep her diet here. She presented a small but richly-scented bowl of cucumber raita, and another of spinach-or whatever passed for it here-Biryani.

She just hoped that this wasn't going to be TOO awkward...she didn't know the other girls well at all, and was a little nervous.

As more and more females streamed in, Maggie was growing more and more excited. She was in her element. She probably should have studied something like advertising or communications in college, instead of International Relations, but the Sorbonne wasn't exactly a party school. Most people forgot that Maggie possessed a Master's degree from one of the best schools in Europe, and that was OK with her. She handed Elly a plate of potato chips, and then turned back to Ahrima. The Jaffa female sat, looking confused.

Loaded? On what? Maggie smiled.

Duh, wine, beer, vodka...whatever we have lying around, really. See, Tau'ri females, when we've hit the bottle, we tend to be talky. Even the nerds open up. I can't WAIT. She really wanted to see what Chicago looked like without the stick in her ass, or what the scientists ACTUALLY thought. Maggie herself was going to stay fairly sober; she didn't NEED alcohol to have a good time, and she certainly didn't need it to spill her secrets.

This is a vegetable...Why not just eat it raw, or heat it?You butcher what nature offers. Maggie shrugged.

*I* don't eat them, Ahrima. Carbohydrates are the devil's work. But you can't eat it raw; not only is it disgusting, it's also indigestable. YOu must cook it. Heating it is fine; I do fancy it fried on occassion. Only when she was having a cheat day, which was never. She was now distracted going over Elly's looks. She was cute; not too much shorter than Maggie and Ahrima, but dowdy. She wasn't the redhead, who had a penchant for children's clothing, but she wasn't En Vogue, either.

I do not..However, you said this was a good way to learn your customs. Maggie had decided. A bit of taupe eyeshadow would do Eliska Clark some wonders. She tried to place Elly in a chair, as well.

Have I let you down yet?! Trust me, Ahrima. Look, I may be a beginner at this whole outer-space thing, but I have a black belt in socializing. Dr. Clark...how do you feel about eyeshadow?! She found a compact, and after a quick inspection, decided that it would do. It wasn't her favorite one, but it was clean and new, and would be fine.

Elly offered Ahrima some chocolate, and while Maggie could SMELL it, she pushed the thought from her head, and focused on her plain popcorn. She looked up at the introduction of a new voice. Staff Sargent Bakshi. Maggie smiled.

Hi. This is the party thing, right? I brought some grape soda... Maggie refrained from asking if the woman knew how many calories were in grape soda, and also fough the urge to snatch the chocolate from Elly. The woman might be young, but she needed to cut back on the chocolate. Maggie just nodded.

Ahrima, chocolate is good...we consider it a dessert. Yes, Sargeant. Come in...thanks for the food. Put it anywhere. Help yourself to something... There wasn't a major structure to the food; Maggie cared more about the fun parts.

Ahrima recalled the context of the majority of the vocabulary that Maggie had just dropped. "You speak of spirits and ale?" she asked for confirmation. Her head tilted to the side as she considered Maggie's description of the result. "Jaffa do not tend to talk much when inebriated. Granted there are some that share stories of battle. Most prefer actual battle or copulation." Ahrima listened to her explanation of the potato. It was still strange to her that a food could be prepared so many different ways and yet not eaten raw. Were all of their foods like this?

"Have I let you down yet?! Trust me, Ahrima."

Ahrima didn't need to think very long on the question. "You have given me no cause to doubt your sincerity, Maggie," she answered simply. "I value your companionship as a sister in arms, as well as your guidance." Ahrima then picked up a chip and held it between the two of them. "Your choice of cuisine, however, may require some of my guidance."

"Well, forgive me for my ignorance, but was Artemis a Male or Female Goa'uld? Even though really most symbiotes don't exactly have a gender likes Humans or Jaffa, but I guess that Honor guard was a sight to behold for the men..."

It was still strange to think about the Jaffa as something less than they had perceived themselves to be for centuries. Gods, walking among them, and then thanks the the Tau'ri they had been shown to be nothing more than pathetic worms... contingent on human hosts in order to rule as they had. "The Goa'uld Artemis chose a female host," Ahrima explained. She then went on to answer the other question. "As for how the Honor Guard were received... it would depend," Ahrima attempted to explain. "Many would readily volunteer when we sought men for copulation. Of course, many would also die at our hands for opposing Artemis." Ahrima seemed to search for the proper phrasing. "It was always a matter of circumstance."

"Please, Call me Elly or Eliska if you must that being my actual first name, I know you don't meant it like she does, with your technical English and all."

Ahrima paused for a second and then slowly nodded. "I do apologize Eliska Clark. It was never my intention to offend you." She stared down at the woman a moment before continuing. "Clearly, I still have a great deal to learn about Tau'ri customs. Regardless, my ignorance is not an excuse for any perceived disrespect. I will avoid such occurrences in the future."

"Not a fan of chips? you should try popcorn or chocolate."

At the sight of the small chocolate cube, Ahrima's eyes widened and she took a single step back. "You consume ambrosia?!" she asked surprised. Many times she could recall the sight of Artemis and the other Goa'uld consuming the dark, and divine substance. There had even been a few that had been put to death for it. No one that Ahrima knew could ever recall where the substance had come from. And now, it seemed that it was the Tau'ri that had been in possession of it all along. Was it a wonder that Earth had been such a rival for the Goa'uld. "It was always a delicacy of the System Lords alone." Ahrima paused and then slowly took the small cube. Her eyes looked from Elly to Maggie and then she timidly took a nibble of the chocolate treat. Looking up, with a slight look of distaste on her face, she eventually placed the cube on her plate next to the chips. "It is very... sweet."

"It might just be plain milk chocolate, but I'm not one for over complicated foods, takes to much effort to make and then eat, properly, do the Jaffa have eating customs?"

Ahirma took a deep breath and then slowly exhaled. She seemed to ponder the question for some time, and then finally answered. "We consume and we survive," said Ahrima simply. "Subjugation by the Goa'uld did not allow my people to develop much in the way of customs beyond that of the System Lord's choice."

"Ahrima, chocolate is good...we consider it a dessert."

"It is still... sweet," Ahrima said, the taste of it still lingering in her mouth.

"Hi. This is the party thing, right? I brought some grape soda... "

"Yes, Sargeant. Come in...thanks for the food. Put it anywhere. Help yourself to something..."

Ahrima's eyes watched as Jaya moved into the barrack, her eyes instantly on the woman's feet. It was a very colorful choice and they had... eyes. Ahrima arched her eyebrows. The Tau'ri's choice of sleepwear was simply growing more and more confusing. Ahrima moved to the table to try the dishes that Jaya had brought. She began to wonder if she was expected to eat everything that was brought. Still, she proceeded to collect a small sample from both dishes and upon trying each, Ahrima's eyes widened. She immediately applied a more sizable portion onto her plate and consumed a bit more. The Raita and Biryani seemed much more appetizing and certainly more familiar in context of food where Ahrima was concerned.

Ahrima then looked towards the Staff Sargent. Her eyes were again drawn to her shoes, but rose once more to meet Jaya's eyes. "Your foot attire is... uniquely fashionable," said the Jaffa as she attempted to deliver a compliment.

The conversation between Maggie and Ahrima was interesting, Maggie being the one to introduce Ahrima to Earth customs and culture, probably not what most people would have chosen but balance that out with some information from the rest of them and Ahrima would hopefully learn that they were all very different.

Taking a plate of chips from Maggie with one hand while listening in to the conversation she greeted a few of the others that came in with slight head movements and smiles. It really was turning into a the lady palace, it was kind of nice being here but Elly was concerned with a few of the Looks the Frenchwoman was giving her.

Putitng her plate down as she was guide(forced) into a chair Elly looked up at Maggie. "Have I let you down yet?! Trust me, Ahrima. Look, I may be a beginner at this whole outer-space thing, but I have a black belt in socializing. Dr. Clark...how do you feel about eyeshadow?!
" Elly mostly looked shocked, but responded. "Must you?" she kind of half pleaded, she wasn't looking for anyone right now, not actively, that wasn't to say some of the military men in particular weren't good looking, but she was looking for something more than just good looks, and that took time to find. However Ahrima then responded to her questions about the Goa'uld Artemis, saving her a little.

"The Goa'uld Artemis chose a female host As for how the Honor Guard were received... it would depend, Many would readily volunteer when we sought men for copulation. Of course, many would also die at our hands for opposing Artemis. It was always a matter of circumstance."
Elly took it in, it was different to know of the woman being the directly strong gender, but kind of nice as well, not that she was one for female domination, she had chosen the wrong scientific field for that.

"Thank Ahrima, seems kind of different the women being the uh aggressively dominant gender, was the other way around for us kind of then again my grandmother would disagree with that..." Elly was kind of pushed back trying to avoid Maggie but it wasn't possible.

She watched as Ahrima learnt about chocolate or in her case Ambrosia, "You consume ambrosia?! It was always a delicacy of the System Lords alone." Her reaction after breaking off a small piece was almost funny, it seemed like she didn't like it. "It is very... sweet."
 "Alot of it is sugar, but still it may not do you much good physically, but for the proverbial soul, it's very good." She'd always had a spot like pretty much everyone else for it, however a lot of the American chocolate wasn't as good as the stuff she had managed to get back home in Canada or Europe.

As Ahrima responded to her query about eating customs, she was reminded she was needed later that night by one of the other research teams, she hated being dependable sometimes, having to check other peoples work who mind you were still as qualified as her sometimes more still often took time from her own.

 Elly nodded softly. "We have some real doozies, a lot of them have to do with religion, or their origins have been lost to time." 


Elly smiled weakly at Jaya when she entered. Finally with Maggie distracted Elly made a move for some foot and drink, eating some of the chips maggie had made her along with a few of the other dishes, some chocolate and a small amount of Biryani. 

Elly looked down as Ahrima commented on Jaya's animal slippers, it was kind of funny to look at, them being basically rainbow in terms of colour, but it wasn't as surprising to anyone else as it was Ahrima. 

[Fiona Maccafferty]

Fiona plodded down the hallway. She was a mess at social gatherings, particularly those involving many females. Fiona much preferred the companionship of one or two close friends. She liked being a wallflower. On the other hand, Dr. Harrison had her doing more social activities to compensate for her fear-based responses to people...a treatment of forced socialization, he'd said, was the cure for the pain caused her by two notable individuals. In short, she needed to learn that not all people were inherently bad, and that not everyone who came into your life would leave it. Some would, of course, as they were unnecessary to us in the grand scheme of things, but it need not be a bitter ending.

So here she was, turned out in what passed for pajamas for her; though she normally slept in a flannel gown on the occassions she did sleep. She was aware that the black MIT t-shirt she wore clashed with the navy and green Boston Celtics lounger pants she wore, but she didn't care. Her feet were warm in woolen mules with a cat imprinted on them, and she was comfortable.

She stopped at the door, and groaned. Maggie Lefebvre. She should have known. Fee was STILL annoyed at the Frenchwoman for attempting to set her up with Tom Chambers at the last party. And there was the Jaffa woman. She frightened Fee a little; she was imposing, and Fee couldn't assess her for danger like she could the others.

She glanced at her hands. She carried a package of Taytos, a six-pack of Guinness, and some Jaffa cakes (!) she had had brought in from Earth on the last supply run. She ate like a child, but she didn't worry about her weight or anything; she could stand to gain some, actually.

She smiled, and moved towards the food, where it appeared the other birds had gathered.

'Allo... She said, cautiously.

Outfit, Tayto's, Jaffa cakes

It was safe to say that Chicago had originally had some doubts about attending Maggie's little do. The very same doubts swirled around her mind as she navigated her way from her own quarters to Maggie's - reminding herself of all the reasons she should most definitely not turn right back around and hide away from the gathering of women in favour of...well, nothing really. It wasn't that she didn't like the Frenchwoman, in fact Chicago had been more than proud of the turnaround Maggie had been making and found her a valuable member of the team. No, her reservations were more that she had never been the type of person to have many female friends, and so to be in the same room in a social capacity with any number of women, well...it made the Major slightly nervous. She was sure when she got there she'd be absolutely fine, but of course that didn't help the journey (no matter how short it may be).

Locating Maggie's quarters eventually, Roo tried the door and found it unlocked - seemingly welcoming her in. She made sure to close it behind her again, and gave a warm smile and an only slightly nervous finger wave to the room as she surveyed those who occupied it. Maggie of course, and Ahrima (nice to see her doing something other than working and fighting), Jaya, Elly and Fiona - not a bad turn out. "Your hair looks lovely Ahrima,' she complimented in place of a greeting as she stepped into the room. Placing a packet of Tim-Tams on the food table, Chicago sat herself on a chair that faced into the room, tucking her Ugg-boot clad feet underneath her and loosely hugging the pillow she'd brought with her to her chest. "So, what'd I miss?"

Maggie was having a great time. Not only was it fun, of course, but Ahrima was fitting in, and all was right in her fluffy little world.

Ahrima seemed unimpressed with her reasons for having a party.

You speak of spirits and ale?Jaffa do not tend to talk much when inebriated. Granted there are some that share stories of battle. Most prefer actual battle or copulation. Maggie blinked. SHE would prefer copulation, actually, but that was probably left for a different sort of party.

Yes, spirits and ale. If you fancy that sort of thing. I, myself, would prefer copulation to chit chat, but the American's would have a cow... She would probably also be demoted, brought up on charges and kicked out of the Navy. Not exactly the sort of changes she was looking to make, really.

Ahrima's next words caused her to smile.

You have given me no cause to doubt your sincerity, Maggie...I value your companionship as a sister in arms, as well as your guidance...Your choice of cuisine, however, may require some of my guidance. Maggie almost cried; this was the nicest thing that anyone, male or female, had said to her in a LONG time. Ahrima trusted her-or at least, appreciated her presence. Maggie just nodded, though.

They're better with salt and oil, but that adds calories... Ahrima had to have noticed that Maggie didn't eat as much as the other females..or people in general. Part of her "change" was to deal with the underlying, mild anorexia she did have, but it was a slow, painful process. Her downfall was chocolate, however, but Maggie would only have a small amount of dark chocolate, not the milk bar that Elly presented.

It's milk chocolate, Ahrima. It's meant to be; Dutch process and all. I have some dark chocolate that you might prefer. I will find it later. Maggie was a chocolate conisseur; she preferred the 60-70% cacao type, and, oddly, American brands to European ones.

Then, two women appeared in rapid succession-Jaya Bakshi, the Air Traffic Controller and Fiona Maccafferty, the technical analyst. She gave Elly a LOOK at the woman's comment about calling her "short stop", and went to help Jaya with her bowls. It smelled good, and Maggie would allow herself a small amount of each.

Thank you, Sargeant. It smells wonderful. She moved to place the bowl of raita on the table, and then Fiona presented a box of cookies and 6 pack of Guinness. Maggie smiled at her, too.

Thanks, tiny....put them over there with the rest of the desserts, please. The younger woman's deadly look didn't escape her, but Maggie wasn't that sorry.

Finally, Chicago showed up. Maggie wanted to make a face; surely, she was there to kill thier fun, but instead she remembered Dr. Kells' words, and instead greeted her CO warmly.

Hello, Major. It's good to see you tonight. I think we're getting quite the turn out, no? She wondered if Captain Miller would show up; the woman usually appeared for a few minutes at functions to "check in" and then went about her life. Maggie respected her for this; she didn't meddle. Besides her and a few others, they were pretty much covered for the females on the base. What the SG program lacked in women, it made up for in gorgeous, eligible, willing men. Maybe tonight, they would talk about which they fancied among them.
