Stargate Meropis
The following a breakdown of season one of Stargate: Meropis as it happens.
Season One
Episode One: One Way Flight
Following a startling discovery in the Atlantis database two years prior, a special mission to the Triangulum Galaxy is finally granted. The Expedition sets out from Stargate Command aboard the Chinese funded BC-304 Sun Tzu to Meropis, 3 million light years from Earth, to try and discover the ancient city. They locate Meropis but not without triggering a few ancient, dormant fail-safes, of which modern medical cures are required to overcome. The Sun Tzu is engaged in orbit by a new enemy calling themselves the Etruscans. A strange alien ship prowling the star system, commanded by a dark cloud of energy-like being that Meropis later learns lives off energy sources and inhabits other creatures where it deems fit. The being forms itself into a humanoid figure naming itself "Laran" which in mythology is the Etruscan God of War. Taking no chances, they manage to fend the enemy ship off, but not without cost.
Episode Two: Fear is what we Learn
The team begin work within the newly discovered Meropis, the civilian team begin their experiments and cataloging of information while the military aspect looks to set up a secure and safe base of operations. Meropis personnel begin acting odd, realizing that their worst fears are manifesting themselves within the city. The situation escalates to the point weapons were being armed and individuals were running from invisible enemies, until scientist Pandora Banks came to the rescue. Realizing it was another of the city's dormant fail-safes that had been activated she eventually overcome her manifested fears and managed to disable it, returning the base to normality. Meanwhile, the city's sensors detect a strange object erratically orbiting one of the system's outer planets. The Sun Tzu is dispatched to investigate and before it can do otherwise, the object seems to power up. It is immediately destroyed by the Sun Tzu's new Asgard weapons before any harm can be done but as yet unknown what the purpose of the object was. It is later discovered to resemble an Etruscan spy satellite in the Meropian data banks.
Episode Three: Extinction
The Expedition is in grave danger following the mysterious spy satellite as an Etruscan vessel appears in orbit demanding the city's surrender. General Conway ordered the city be cloaked as soon as the vessel arrived but the alien's technology proved to be impressively advanced as the ship took pot shots that landed far too close for comfort. The city switched from cloak to shield and prepared for a fight. As Captain Jones took to the drone chair another two vessels arrived, declaring war in the name of the deity "Laran" and unleashing a bombardment on the city. The ensuing battle destroyed one third of Meropis. It was then revealed that a member of the expedition named Andrew McManus was being held prisoner on one of the vessels having been captured by a scout ship in Episode One, a rescue mission is launched. Just in the nick of time, Atlantis arrived having departed Earth! Moving the city-ship from Pegasus had triggered a fail-safe which would have ultimately led to the destruction of the city. With the combined fire power of Atlantis and an internal C4 device planted by McManus, two of the ships exploded, the third quickly fled the battle, ending the destruction at last. Conway thanked Lt. Col. Sheppard and co. for their timely response to the ancient sub-space distress signal and prayed that the Etruscans now feared the power of two city-ships. Atlantis left via hyper-drive on it's way back to Pegasus, leaving Meropis to begin rebuilding and recovering.
Episode Four: The Cult of Lillith
SM-1 are called to Earth to assist Dr. Daniel Jackson investigating some mysterious murders linked to the Stargate Program. Their search reveals "The Cult of Lillith", a group of Wraith Hybrids living on Earth dedicated to the worship of the ancient Lillith. In search of a way to stop them before the "awakening" they are attacked by the Cult with some members taken hostage. SM-2 travel to K3X-779 with a prince rescued from the Etruscans, unfortunately, the team discover the world is now ruled by an Etruscan named Hinthial. They are taken prisoner, a blood bath ensues as the Etruscans brutally murder the team apart from Andrew McManus and John Callaghan. The pair effect their escape with Prince Oberon and flee to the Stargate. McManus does not go, he kills the Prince and goes AWOL. The Sun Tzu investigates an enormous mysterious alien vessel, they find it isn't as abandoned as their scanners show as they find a variety of horrors and mutations on board trying to kill them. They also detect the ship is equipped with a reality drive, fortunately they escape before it has charged up but the ship remains a mystery... For now. They are then hailed by a Vanir Asgard named Njord who claims to be asking for their help. The base personnel investigate a secret lab elsewhere on the planet surface belonging to Lillith. Inside, they find a maintenance android named Almeda. They also encounter an alien fugitive named Aear Charter who is on the run from a powerful bounty hunter who infiltrates the lab to attempt to kill Aear. The team are forced to intervene and save the fugitive as well as the android.
Episode Five: The Enemy Within
With an emergency base lock down on Meropis, the flagship team's lives on the line back on Earth and the Sun Tzu being asked for help by a race long thought dead, this is one mission that could be classified as a "close call". Being careful who you trust whilst watching your friend's back puts our teams between a rock and a hard place as enemies appear where they are least expected. A being kept in stasis beneath Meropis reveals himself to be called Dorane and attempts to take over the base by warping the minds of a native species, the Koan. Meanwhile, the rogue Andrew McManus attacks, having taken SM-5 out and stolen their IDC. The two situations come to a head in the 'gate room with the result being Lt. Hopper trapping Dorane in a Jumper and flying him to an ice planet where they would both meet their makers. McManus escapes through the open wormhole and the infirmary deal with Michael Black who has been infected by a virus Dorane created. The Sun Tzu assists Njord of the Vanir in stopping a seemingly invincible Etruscan weapon, they do so but realize the weapon was piloted by a raw Etruscan being. Njord thanks the expedition for their help but refuses to reveal the weapon the Vanir are working on. On Earth, SM-1 join forces with Dr. Daniel Jackson for a final showdown with the Cult of Lilith at their base in Tasmania. With help from Hanaan and the followers of Ninlil, a group of reformed hybrids, they are able to defeat the Cult and stop their plan to infect the general population with the retrovirus. The followers of Ninlil are thanked for their help left to clean up the stragglers that have hidden among society at large.
Episode Six: The Eye of the Storm
The Meropis expedition are now truly in "The Eye of the Storm" in more ways than one. With the worst behind them, is this the calm before the Etruscans strike again? General Conway isn't taking any chances and orders SM-2 to lead an attack on Eros, the planet the aliens recently conquered. The mission fails after a run in with the rogue Andrew McManus and discovery by a new breed of elite Etruscan warrior. SM-2 realize the Etruscan army is preparing for something big. Meanwhile, SM-1 continue their efforts to uncover Lilith's secrets and lead the exploration of what seems to be a prehistoric world centered upon an ancient, abandoned facility. After a run in with a highly evolved dinosaur-like alien race, the team uncover information on an old database leading them to a mysterious ancient vessel known as 'The Ark'. Back on the base, a storm is brewing. Dr. Rodney McKay visits to see Meropis for himself and is immediately tasked with helping the team prepare for an annual hurricane level event, the first of it's kind for the expedition. With rumors of traitors and spies among the ranks, the senior command hold an urgent meeting. Finally, SM-4 return to base with a mysterious woman called "Hanyuu", who is she and why was she in stasis in an abandoned ancient facility? With the help of McKay, Glavish, Hanyuu and Paisley the base are able to survive the deadly storm and reconfigure the shields to modern human's DNA.
Episode Seven: Cause & Effect
A brainwashed Lucian Alliance spy attempts to take General Conway's life, and succeeds! Fortunately, the quick thinking of Dr. Elly Clark and a little help from a recently discovered ancient experimental device meant that Clark and SM-1 were able to time travel back to before the incident and prevent it from ever happening, resulting in the culprit Val Olwin being placed under arrest. The device was burned out and destroyed in the process. Off-world, SM-3 are captured by an industrial era civilisation whilst investigating an ancient outpost, with a little help from the Sun Tzu they manage to escape, but not without suffering agonising torture first. Elsewhere, an away team is dispatched to investigate a ship named 'The Ark' discovered in Episode Six. Once aboard said ship, the team accidentally trigger an automated defence system that not only prevents them from leaving, but creatures biological creatures intent on their death. Through perhaps sheer luck and a handful of wits the team survive, but not before something seemingly awful happens to Dr. Black.
Episode Eight: An Awakening (in progress)
Episode Eight is titled, An Awakening. A single action is about to spark a chain of events that will lead to everything we know about the Stargate Program being turned on it's head. They are coming back, and they are using one man to do so. The events of episode seven have ignited a harsh Homeworld Command decision: The Meropis Project is being shut down and the expedition is ordered to return to Earth. Can they just up sticks and leave like that?
