Stargate: Meropis Episode Five- "The Enemy Within"

Summary

With an emergency base lock down on Meropis, the flagship team's lives on the line back on Earth and the Sun Tzu being asked for help by a race long thought dead, this is one mission that could be classified as a "close call". Being careful who you trust whilst watching your friend's back puts our teams between a rock and a hard place as enemies appear where they are least expected. Most importantly of all... Not everyone is guaranteed to survive.

SM-1 Mission: Earth - Posting Group One

Posting Group One will consist of SM-1 Off World Exploration Team; Major Chicago Eastlyn, Captain Dominic Evans, Jaffa Liaison Ahrima, Historian Zachary Acker and Maggie Lefebvre. The team will be joined on this occasion by Doctor Daniel Jackson and Doctor Pandora Banks. Following the events of Episode Four, the team find themselves in dire straits with all but Captain Evans, Pandora Banks and Ahrima missing presumed captured. A desperate rescue mission leads to a Puddle Jumper flight to Tanzania. But will the team re-unite and make it in time to stop the awakening?

The Sun Tzu - Posting Group Two
Exactly 48 hours after being contacted by a mysterious Asgard member of the Vanir or "Lost Tribe", The Sun Tzu arrives at a set of pre-arranged co-ordinates. What they find on the planet below is astonishing, and what Njord the Asgard is asking for help with is equally worrying. It is up to the crew of the Sun Tzu and it's F-302 squadron to make a decision. Will they help? And if they do decide to, just how do they deal with a threat of that size?

Base Personnel & SM-2 - Posting Group Three
With the Meowtian diplomat making her way through the Stargate courtesy of new-found Aear Charter, the pressures are on for all of the expedition to put on a good show. While exploring the unused sections of the Ancient city of Meropis, Doctor's Glavish and Black stumble on something that sends the entire city into lock down, just in time for the visit. Is it a mysterious Ancient device or is it a trap for the unwary?

Posting Group Three is split up as follows. Please start your threads in the appropriate sub-boards within Meropis City with the start time being 1945, all threads occur at the same time. The threads may interweave throughout the episode. Plot Twist will intervene when the lock down occurs.

Episode Update

SM-1 Mission: Earth - Posting Group One

A twist of fate in Iraq revealed that Chicago, Maggie, Zach and Jackson were all rescued by a mysterious group calling themselves the 'Ninlil' - a faction who claim to worship Lilith yet oppose the deadly cult. Things appear to have taken a shocking turn when Chicago is confronted by a wraith hybrid being that latches onto her chest. Meanwhile, Evans and Ahrima locate special agent Liam Hart who had been working undercover within the Ninlil up until now. With information about a vital ancient scroll coming to light, the team are against the clock working to stop a global virus dubbed 'The Awakening'.

The Sun Tzu - Posting Group Two

Having made contact with Njord and the Vanir at their secret location, the aliens reveal to the Earth ship that they were under threat from a seemingly indestructible asteroid set on an un-natural collision course with their base. Whatever the Vanir are working on is deemed to important to evacuate, so they've asked for the Sun Tzu's help. However, two strikes on the asteroid including beam weapons and a gate buster nuclear warhead seemed to barely the affect the apparently Etruscan made weapon. The team are on a count down, hoping to save the Vanir before it becomes too late.

Base Personnel & SM-2 - Posting Group Three
With the city in lock down, the lights having gone out and the radio system fried, the base has been sent into disarray. People find themselves compartmentalized off into different sections of the city, but that isn't their only problem. A vicious and aggressive horde of humanoid beasts have suddenly appeared around the base and seem to be attacking on sight. With no clues as to what caused this internal break out, the teams are trying to extract themselves from lock down and put a stop to it.


In addition the the main episode, there are also a handful of open out of mission threads available for any character to jump in to. They are as follows;

Episode Update


SM-1 Mission: Earth - Posting Group One
Thanks to Agent Liam Hart, SM-1 were re-united in Iraq and flew back to the SGC. They'd learned that the Wraith hybrid that had healed Major Eastlyn was called Hanaan and belonged to a group calling themselves the followers of Ninlil, another name for Lilith. They seemed to want to help SM-1 and Daniel Jackson defeat the Cult of Lilith and prevent the release of this global virus that will have unknown effects on Earth's population. Additionally, the group were joined by the last remaining Hoffan survivor - Albus Mylan, somewhat of an expert on the Wraith. The team discovered that the Cult were seeking to infect those with the true bloodline of the ancient named Lilith and convert them to their cause. General Landry received news of 200 bodies in the Tasmania national park with traces of Wraith enzyme. The team were dispatched to investigate and potentially carry out a raid on the Cult's main base of operations.

The Sun Tzu - Posting Group Two
Having thrown all their weapons at it, the Sun Tzu's crew and Njord agreed a new tactic. Using the F-302s and the Vanir's ship, they latched onto a stray asteroid and re-directed into the path of the Etruscan weapon. They failed to destroy it but the impact did seem to tear off the layer of rock around the object, revealing a silver sphere powered by unknown propulsion at it's core. Unfortunately, the sphere continued on it's course and hurtled toward the Vanir home-world. Colonel Riley asks Njord if the Vanir have a Stargate... Time for Plan C.

Base Personnel & SM-2 - Posting Group Three
Several groups of people have managed to free themselves of their quarantines by a variety of creative means, including SM-2 who have taken up arms and are attempting to secure the infirmary as a 'safe zone'. The creatures still stalk the base and seem to have seriously injured lone personal caught off guard in the dark. While Paisley and Blueberry managed to get some of the lights back on in certain sections, the Stargate has activated in front of Conway, Hurley, Miller and the gate op's crew. Unfortunately, it wasn't SM-5 as they were expecting. Instead, the missing-in-action Andrew McManus and a crew of masked warriors burst into the gate room and took the senior command team hostage. Meanwhile, in the caverns below the city. A male awoke from stasis in front of the scientists and called himself "Dorane". As the android Almeda placed herself into the stasis pod, Dorane explained that the creatures are called the Koan and were brought to Meropis as a battle strategy by the Etruscans. While the team question him further, Dr. Black - seemingly infected with some sort of alien virus - begins to deteriorate rapidly, to the point where he begins to physically change. The team quickly realize that there is something Dorane isn't telling them about himself, and about the Koan.

Episode Conclusion

The Sun Tzu - Posting Group Two

After repeat assaults on the Etruscan asteroid hurtling toward the Vanir home world, it was time for desperate measures. The Sun Tzu, with Njord's help, maneuvered the Vanir Stargate into orbit. A well timed plan with Major Booth on a nearby planet dialing the Stargate meant that the unstable vortex took out a chunk of the Etruscan asteroid and slowed it down. This gave the Sun Tzu the opening for Ryan Decker to unleash a barrage of weapon's fire at the asteroid's core, finally causing it to blow apart. Moments after the explosion, it was revealed that the enormous weapon was actually piloted by an Etruscan God in it's raw form, a dark electric filled shadow emerged before disappearing in front of the crew's very eyes. Njord thanked the ship for their efforts in saving both the Vanir home world and the secret weapon they were working. While he still refused to reveal his hand, Njord promised the expedition that the weapon would be something that might later tip the balance in the war against the Etruscans and the crew would not regret helping him protect it.

Base Personnel & SM-2 - Posting Group Three
With the base crawling with crazed Koan, it was time for SM-2 to clean house. Major Callaghan, Paisley and a few others had fought their way to the gate room and helped to take out McManus' rogue men.
 Dr. Black met with a Koan outside the base and came to the realization that the ones trapped inside were only aggressive because the mysterious Dorane had mutated them into monsters, and that the ancients had placed him in stasis as punishment. Dr. Glavish enacted a plan which activated force shields around the base, herding the Koan outside and into the night to be met by their sane brethren in the forest. Meanwhile, Dorane had managed to escape an attempt by Fiona Maccafferty, Aear Charter and Elly Clark to capture him and had fled into the city. He was finally located inside a Puddle Jumper, lowering it into the gate room with a bomb inside.

Dorane finally announced his intentions, to take out the expedition with an airborne pathogen that would turn them all into Koan like creatures and allow him to reclaim the base as his own. Before he could seal himself in the Jumper and activate it however, Lt. Thomas Hopper heroically attacked. The two brawled but Dorane proved to have un-natural strength and confined Hopper to the cockpit. With moments to spare before the device detonated, Hopper took the only chance he had and piloted the Jumper off world to an ice planet, flying as far away from the Stargate as he could. An explosion was heard over the radio and both Hopper and Dorane are presumed dead. In the confusion, Andrew McManus made a break for it through the open wormhole before it shut off. Dr. Black would undergo hours of surgery and later approach the native Koan and provide them with food supplies and a gesture of goodwill. McManus had made accusations before his break for freedom of a Lucian Alliance spy on the base that only he knew about. With tensions high, a heavy death toll and the base in a state of disrepair, it was now time for the expedition to regroup and try to regain some normality.
