General Conway's Office
Meropis
Triangulum
Jason Conway closed the file on the last of the mission reports and hit autosave on his laptop, knowing they'd go off in the next data burst to Stargate Command. He reflected on the mission reports of Captain Dominic Evans, the Jaffa Ahrima and Doctor Elly Clark who were all key players in the spy incident. They'd seen the expedition leader himself die, seemingly blown to pieces by a spy working for the Lucian Alliance, brainwashed by some form of alien technology. She'd destroyed half the central spire along with it, special agent Val Olwin. Now she sat in a cold, hard cell somewhere a few miles below ground at Area 51.
The science of it all was beyond him, but they'd managed to use the Meropis systems to find a wormhole and gate back in time to a few days before the incident, there they'd waited it out in the General's Office and avoided contact with their previous selves until Olwin was about to strike. She'd been caught out, apprehended and sent back home in shackles. From there, Dr. Clark had shown them how to use the same technology to get them back home - about a week after they'd left. Technically, there was that period of a week where all three never actually existed in the Meropis time line, but that was a minor detail...
They were now six weeks down the line and things were starting getting a little... Tense. That was the best way Jason could describe the current standing between Meropis, Stargate Command and the International Oversight Advisory. Since the reveal of The Etruscans and their advanced ships, the spy incident, and increased tensions with the Wraith over in Pegasus, the spotlight had shifted to the Brigadier General and his beloved ancient city. It wasn't a city capable of flight, it didn't even have a hyperdrive, so they were fairly limited in what they could do with it. Nonetheless, the IOA wanted to do something drastic, shut down the Triangulum Project. Conway was troubled by the news that during a recent political summit, China began to pull out of the IOA treaty. The U.S and Australia stepped in to jointly fund and supply the BC 304 Sun Tzu along with Meropis, but tensions remain high over the IOA's handling of the Icarus Project deaths and the lost Destiny crew situation.
Another thing that had really begun to trouble Conway is the reports from off-world teams of Wraith like feedings on several different planets. Meropis now had to consider the distinct possibility that the Wraith may have found a way across to Triangulum.
The data burst had finished, the slight ping from his laptop alerted Jason Conway to the presence of a new email and distracted him from his thoughts. This was the message he'd been waiting for all week. Never one to shy away from the facts, he immediately opened it.

SUBJECT: [CLASSIFIED] IOA Resolution
Jason,
Hank here, sorry about what you're about to read but I figured you'd want me to break the news to you sooner rather than later. There's something you ought to know about the IOA. They've issued the following edict and, long story short, there's nothing we can do to stop it short of loose our entire funding and face shutting down the Stargate Program. Jack's fighting it all the way but with the political minefield we find ourselves in, I'd start preparing for worse than this. Anyway, here's the memo, you'll get a hard copy by the end of today from one of their suits.
INTERNATIONAL OVERSIGHT ADVISORY EDICT
Following a recent meeting between all concerned nations, it has been decreed that the Triangulum Project shall no longer continue. The city of Meropis shall be stripped of any and all technologies useful in the defence of Earth. Transport will be facilitated by use of the Stargate or the BC-304's. Once complete, the remaining Meropis structure will be destroyed and it's Stargate buried. All personnel will be relocated to new projects.
The IOA does not take this decision lightly. The basis of the decision is founded on recent threats to Earth arisen via new exploration projects. Examples include but are not limited to; the discovery of the hostile Etruscan race, the ever growing problem with the Wraith, defecting staff when based away from a clear command structure, the entire loss of the Icarus Project and political upheaval on Earth resulting in drastic changes to project funding.
As such, projects shall be withdrawn and efforts will focus on the defence of the planet. It has been clearly demonstrated in recent history with the Wraith super-hive that ongoing operations in another galaxy only serves to draw yet more threats to our home. We cannot afford the same to occur with the Etruscans as well. The Pegasus Project will also be reviewed at a later date.
Message Ends.
Jason closed the laptop and breathed deeply three times. He then picked up the laptop and with a scream, he threw it at the wall.
