it's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

lyrics: "Good Riddance" by Green Day.
She had never cried this much before in her whole life. By her own accord, she was tough. She had survived her mother, the sort of upbringing that taught a girl that the only way she would succeed in this life was by pleasing men, college, AND pilot's training. Being in first class of female pilots that the French installed wasn't exactly a cakewalk. She'd survived her best friend's murder...all of these mostly unscathed. But now...that was changing. She wasn't so tough anymore. Someone ELSE, a tiny little being, was calling all the shots, and she had no power over that.
She met Jones at the door to his room. There wasn't time to go IN, plus Dominic was watching. Goddammit, she wasn't allowed to do ANYTHING anymore. She felt like everyone KNEW, but how could they?! Maggie drew attention, anyway, and Evans wasn't exactly her number one fan. They were OK, but by no means were they BFFs. She gave her boyfriend...was he that? Lover? She didn't know..or care anymore...a shaky smile. He knew the story; she was pregnant, and it was too close between him and Mik...and actually, now that she thought of it...Lt. Hopper that one time...she needed to know which one the father was. For her. For HIM. THEN..they needed a plan. Her plan had been to set herself on fire like Joan of Arc, but her mother had said she was being kind of dramatic. Now, she was back at work and needed a new plan since death was kind of unappealing, really. She seriously doubted that anyone would spring for a pink, satin-lined casket, and no way in hell was she going to go out any other way, so she had to stay alive. She tried for words.
Are you ready? She started towards the Infirmary, on the exact opposite side of the base. Maybe the walk would give her an idea. Or maybe she'd get hit by a golf cart and go into early labor and then she wouldn't NEED a plan. She was being dramatic again, but she WAS French. She had no idea how to be anything else.
it's something unpredictable but in the end it's right
