(Collin's SGC missions starting with his introduction to SG-16 after his off world readiness training, Also thanks to Cass for writing his CO)


First Lieutenant Ethan Collins signed in with the airman guarding the elevator from the upper, though still underground parts of the Cheyenne mountain complex to the even further underground levels that directly comprised stargate command. Collins stepped aside as his chaperon, well very soon if not now to be Team 2iC. The captain nodded to Lieutenant Colllins. "Come on Collins let's get going, the boss will want to meet you in the flesh." Ethan Nodded before steeping into the elevator after the Captain.

As they rode down in semi awkward silence the Marine kept eyeing him off. "Fly boy?" Collins nodded. "Yes Sir, F-16s I was originally supposed to fly F-302s however I participated in a training exercise for an off world team and well someone seemed to like me." The marine nodded slowly. "Ah well, we'll harden you up, the boss sure as hell will make you a man or spit you back into a flight seat faster than I could make you not more than a stain on the floor."  The Lieutenant gulped. "I'll keep that in mind Sir." The marine smirked and slapped him hard on the back. "just, don't screw up Lieutenant." 

The elevator stopped, the doors opened and the captain stepped out before Ethan followed. they walked through the bunker corridors of the SGC to the team room. the marine swiped his card and the door opened revealing his team. Ethan stepped in before standing to almost complete attention and giving a crisp salute to his new CO. "First Lieutenant Ethan Collins Reporting Ma'am."

Sierra Williams sat at the briefing table in the team room at SG HQ. She was waiting, slightly impatiently, for their new teammate, Ethan Collins. She'd been "watching" him, and his service record was exemplary. A pilot, which was a bonus, and good at his job. He seemed to have a solid head on his shoulders, as well, which was something she appreciated. She didn't have time to babysit anyone.

He entered, with her XO, and she nodded once.

First Lieutenant Ethan Collins Reporting Ma'am. She smiled lightly. No need to start off on the wrong foot.

Please, sit. Thank you for reporting so quickly. She paused, and handed him a file with their mission information.

Welcome to the Stargate Command. The rules are simple-keep your mouth shut, your stuff secure, and don't make me have to ask you twice. Oh, and stay alive! In that file is everything you will need to know to keep your head on straight. This isn't any field mission, but I trust you're up to the task, Lt., otherwise, you'd not be here. Any questions? She waited for the man. She really DID want him to ask anything if he needed to; a well-informed team was a SAFE team.

Collins dropped the salute after a few moments. He looked around as handed a file which he took and quickly opened. "Please, sit. Thank you for reporting so quickly." Ethan forced down a smile as he looke dto the only other person in the room, the last team member he hadn't met. She introduced herself, her rather average size was betrayed by a particularly non military feel, though to be honest she wasn't in any violation of military regulations, people just had different feels about them.

"Doctor Mandy Martinez, I'm an archeologist and anthropologist." He smiled slightly and nodded before opening the file, it detailed an outline of their mission it was mostly to investigate a planet, one they felt might have fallen to a radical religious group called the Ori, they weren't sure and so that's why they were being sent, along with the added bonus of helping Doctor Martinez, if it was safe to look over some ruins. It also detailed the facts they knew, this planet had roughly a 60 percent human to around 40 Jaffa population who according to reports from their allies in the Jaffa didn't always get along so they were armed with anything from sticks and stones to swords and the staff weapons and zats he'd both heard about and been shown.

He read most of this as he occasionally looked up to meet Major Willaims' gaze, one didn't become a reasonably accomplished pilot without being able to read, listen and do, all at the same time. "Welcome to the Stargate Command. The rules are simple-keep your mouth shut, your stuff secure, and don't make me have to ask you twice. Oh, and stay alive! In that file is everything you will need to know to keep your head on straight. This isn't any field mission, but I trust you're up to the task, Lt., otherwise, you'd not be here. Any questions?" Ethan nodded. "Head down, trap shut, hands on stick and throttle." He was sure she'd get the point, he got the message loud and clear. He glanced down the file again. "A million and half different questions, but for the mission, are we expecting to be attacked by the Humans, these Jaffa, the Ori or some combination of them all?" Threat assessment at the moment was his main concern his gaze drifted to the marine. "Oh and the ruins we might look into," he looked from Major Williams to Doctor Martinez. "Do we know whose they are the uh..." he'd had a bit of a trouble trying to say the word. "Goa'uld or Ancient, or is that the whole point?"

The doctor sat up. "We're going to find out just that." Mandy handed over tot he Major or the Captain. Ethan closed the file. It seemed that was probably a secondary concern, from what he'd read most of late last night and this morning after he'd finished a long phone call to his parents before flying himself all the way to Peterson, then getting driven here. Collins looked ready, well as much as he probably could have been, though as always he harbored his silent concerns.

Sierra sat and listened. This Ethan Collins was sharp.

Head down, trap shut, hands on stick and throttle... She stifled a chuckle; at least he got that she was serious, and he understood. Great.

A million and half different questions, but for the mission, are we expecting to be attacked by the Humans, these Jaffa, the Ori or some combination of them all?

She smiled tightly.

Out there, NO one but your team is a friendly until they show themselves to be otherwise. We don't know yet. We don't expect the Jaffa to be a problem, but the rest we don't know. One of the first Stargate teams had friendly encounters with the Jaffa, but not the Ori. Ours could be different, however. Sierra didn't have the answers, and that bothered her a little. Even SHE didn't know what the day might hold, and she was the "veteran" of the program. She sighed, but Ethan continued.

Oh and the ruins we might look into...Do we know whose they are the uh...Goa'uld or Ancient, or is that the whole point? She let the science officer, Miss Amanda Martines, answer this.

We're going to find out just that... Sierra smiled. Perfect. It was time. She looked to her XO, Captain Benjamin.

Benjamin, help Collins to suit up, and Martinez and I will get the gear gathered. We gate out in Five. She stood then, and prepared to enter the Gate area. It was go time, and she felt excited, as she usually did when she got to go through the giant metal contraption.

It seemed his comment had gone down well, she hadn't said anything, it was just a look on her face.

he listened intently to the Major's explanation of what he suspected were a guarded version of rules of engagement. "Out there, NO one but your team is a friendly until they show themselves to be otherwise. We don't know yet. We don't expect the Jaffa to be a problem, but the rest we don't know. One of the first Stargate teams had friendly encounters with the Jaffa, but not the Ori. Ours could be different, however." He nodded strongly, now it seemed he'd get to see the real part of off world operations, it wasn't technically his first trip through the gate, but the air force had sedated him the first time, they had wanted to see if he or the other people, could determine they were actually not on Earth, he had been the first to pick it out.

Once they had the response from Doctor Martinez, Major Williams decided to get them ready to go through the Stargate. "Benjamin, help Collins to suit up, and Martinez and I will get the gear gathered. We gate out in Five." Collins stood up and with a nod left the room for the armoury one level above the 'Gate room.

Arriving the armoury He and the captain quickly got into their gear, the Captain only had to put his Vest and other equipment on. Collins got changed into the OD green uniform with vest, Cap and all his other gear, M9 in thigh holster, P90 on its vest sling, he turned to Captain Benjamin who had a G36 and a small rounded rectangular object in his other hand which he offered to Collins. "Your GDO Lieutenant, your Iris code is in your top right vest pocket." Collins nodded before stuffing the GDO into that spot, he'd look at the code in a few minutes.

Now they were both ready they wnet down to the gate room, off in one of the rooms adjacent to the gate they met up with Matrinez and Williams. He looked voer the two women in their combat gear, Martinez even had a P90, it seemed everyone came prepared. "He's got his GDO and Iris Code Major, we're ready." Ethan nodded. "First time through the gate, awake at least." He half smiled. The Team then went into the Gate room shortly befor ei was filled with the drone of alarms as the sounds similar to steam engine almost filled his ears as the gate began dialing, he watch the inner ring move around and the chevrons lock, he was like a kid in a candy store.

The males returned shortly, and they began to dial the Gate. It moved like a clock might, but the noise was deafening. By now, she was used to it, but when she'd first started, it had been scary. Even scarier was the fact that mere moments after stepping through the Gate, her team had been fired upon by a group of Go'uald. In the end, it had worked out, but it had been intense. She took a deep breath, and looked at her team. Martinez looked a little silly, but so did she-the SG uniforms didn't do much for the female form.

He's got his GDO and Iris Code Major, we're ready. She nodded, and then looked to Collins. Sure enough, he was squared away.

First time through the gate, awake at least.. Williams nodded again. She remembered the exercises of being sedated to test your reflexes. Her team, THIS team-they were the ones who'd figured it out first. Only the best were on her team if she could help it.

Close your eyes, it makes it better. You two ready? After Benjamin and Martinez nodded, she stepped forward, and led them through the Gate. The planet was unnamed and unexplored, and she was excited to be the first to set foot on it.

Collins watched the the lights on the gate come on, he was controlling his breathing the same way he'd learned to in flight school. As the gate got closer and closer to locking in the address they waited infront of it, he'd seen the video they had about gate dialing and the big, 'Kawoosh' as they apparently like to call it would follow the locking of the point of origin symbol, gate systems fascinated him, he didn't exactly understand them, but he'd love to try and give that a go sometime.

Major Williams then asked the other two, "Close your eyes, it makes it better. You two ready?" Collins looked towards them it was still kind of weird in his head to see the difference Willaims Himself and Martinez were wearing Air Force OD green, Captain Benjamin however was wearing marine woodland Marpat. I twas nothing really to be concerned with he just was amused by that particular fact. As the gate wound round to the point of origin, they nodded. Collins grip on his P90 tightened as it unconsciously came into a ready position across his chest.

The gate locked in the point of Origin there was a minute delay and the sound of almost futuristic gears before a puddle formed along with the Kawoosh he forced himself not to step back.a moment passed then the team moved up the ramp, Collins was to be last, he'd burned the symbols for earth minus the other planets point of origin into his head, he wasn't going to forget home.

Ethan walked up to the event horizon and just after the others stepped through held of for a fraction of a second before stepping through.

as quickly as stepping through a doorway he found himself on an alien planet, it was green, earth like the Air didn't seem different but he knew this planet was different. The Gate was on a small pedestal in the middle of a small forested area with a track leading away form the trees to where it was clean the tree cover was thinner. The team moved down the stone steps toward the Dialing Device, it was exactly like what they had been shown. Martinez and himself looked it over, he found the symbols for Earth and the one that looked different.

Amanda then went on to quickly show him and the others. "It's this one, this is the point of origin." Ethan looked around the MALP was right where it was supposed to be just off to the side of the gate. Ethan moved away and look around surveying the surroundings he was immediacy drawn to the road. Ethan looked back to Major Williams and Doctor Martinez. "Where to next, probably not safe to be on the road, but if we are to see if these Ori have the village we need to got here and it makes sense that is where the road leads." He gestured towards the road he however still scanned the tree line for threats.

Stepping through the Gate was an experience like no other. It was not painful, but it was...ODD. The exact science of it was something that Sierra didn't concern herself with, but it was about rearranging your atoms...or something?! At any rate, it was exhilarating. She smiled as she stepped onto the "other" side. She took a deep breath of alien atmosphere. It didn't hurt her lungs, which was a good sign. She looked around, intent. One could never be too cautious, after all. No immediate threats seemed present, so she turned slightly to her right, to make sure the others had gotten through. They had, and she looked at Collins.

How was it?! She then took her P-90 out of it's sling and thought a moment. They should stay together for this one, she felt, so she looked forward. The voices of Collins and Martinez sounded.

It's this one, this is the point of origin. Sierra looked at the map, and got her bearings. It wasn't a particularly large planet, and they were close-ish to the points of interest the Science woman wanted to see, and to the points of interest for Benjamin and Collins. She looked to Collins as he spoke, next.

Where to next, probably not safe to be on the road, but if we are to see if these Ori have the village we need to got here and it makes sense that is where the road leads. She nodded again, in agreement this time. She thought for a moment; he was probably right, the road would be too obvious, but maybe there was a second path.

A village indicates life, and life needs food and liquid to survive, right?! So that means, logically, there are other paths into and out of the village. I bet if we follow along the road, but not ON it directly, we can see something...a shortcut, maybe. Collins, Captain, take up the rear. Martinez, stay close. I don't want harm to befall anyone. Someone keep an eye out behind us, just in case. The Ori are a wise following, after all. Did that sound totally paranoid?! Oh, well, one couldn't be too careful. Lives were at stake. She moved towards the direction that Collins indicated, careful to keep her weapon handy but not to be suspicious. They didn't need to frighten unsuspecting villagers, and they certainly didn't want to alert any evil beings to their presence.

She spoke again, this time a little quietier.

The Ori strongholds are just inside the village gates; let's see if we can make this one a peaceful interaction. But if you MUST...fire as necessary. Let's move out. She sighed. She hated issuing orders such as these, but what choice did she have?! If they could get there, and see that the Ori weren't doing anythign TOO bad (but, come on, they're Ori), maybe, just MAYBE they wouldn't need to fire. She could hope, right?

Having appeared on the other side he was still getting over the feeling, though apparently he had been spared the forceful ejection and cold snap of the very early gate travellers he quickly got his act together.

"How was it?!" Major Williams Asked. he turned slightly to her. "Different." He couldn't find the words to describe being disassembled at the molecular level and then reassembled, it was different that was about all that worked.

As they found the point of Origin and he thought aloud the Captain Benjamin had glanced over the point of origin. Willaims had been assessing the situation, as Collins spoke she was clearly thinking hard, but she defiantly got his point, and he was sure had he not brought it up the marine would have.

They formed up in a single file column Collins was second last, Captain Benjamin was watching the rear. He had to admit, this was still very different. s they moved up somewhat along side the road to the village the major spoke again. "The Ori strongholds are just inside the village gates; let's see if we can make this one a peaceful interaction. But if you MUST...fire as necessary. Let's move out." Was probably a tactic they had to find out fi indeed they had control of this village and hence the planet, after all he who controls Stargate controls the plane, most probably in his estimation.

 "Got it." he replied as he kept a look out switching his view from side to side, watching the flanks.

They walked for a solid half hour to forty five minutes before a few man made structures appeared and the trees really started to peter out, they were nearing the village but no sign of the Ori, however they would need to get to the village proper to determine that.

As they entered the village they got some looks mostly form the humans the few Jaffa around seemed to accept their presence, or certainly weren't bother by it, there was no clear sign of the Ori, no flags, standards or symbols. the team sort of fanned out a little. A nervous seeming middle aged woman approached them.

"You are of the Tau'ri?" she asked. "We do not want you here, if the Prior comes back and finds us with you here, we will be punished, leave." Some of the other people in the market moved towards them some with concerned looked more towards the woman than the team others seemed to agree with her. A man in thicker heavy cloth robes approached. "Leave them, we have yet to make our decision, but the prior of the Ori has come." He seemed to finish his sentence there as if that was enough, Collins was tense but he felt Captain Benjamin was more so.

Collins looked to the others Martinez first then to Williams, the intelligence that they had received was mostly correct the Ori had come to town, just not to stay, not yet. Matrinex probably still very much wanted to check the Ruins out, but if they had to leave, they would, unless they could make it look like they did, but he had to say that as they left not within ear shot of the village or its inhabitants.

Different... Came Collins' reply when she inquired how it felt to cross through the Gate. She chuckled, but nodded. It was true enough.

After they made a decision about which way to go, he offered some words.

"If we wind a stream it should lead to civilization in one direction or another, probably down. She raised an eyebrow. That was an EXCELLENT point.

That's right. Ok, let's move. She started forward, leading her team carefully towards the center of the town, following the road, but slightly to the left of it, so as not to be TOO obvious.

They prodded along, and finally found a way into the city. She became a LITTLE tense; this was GO time, and she was hoping that it wasn't going to be anything. She noticed, as did the others, when a middle-aged woman approached them. She was a little suspicious; there should be SOMEONE-an Ori guard, a booby trap...SOMETHING...to keep outsiders out. The woman spoke to them.

You are of the Tau'ri?...We do not want you here, if the Prior comes back and finds us with you here, we will be punished, leave. Sierra nodded, lightly, but didn't move yet. A man approached; he seemed to maybe be somehow in charge-an elder or something.

Leave them, we have yet to make our decision, but the prior of the Ori has come.

Sierra made a quick decision in her head.

We come in peace! We're here to HELP you if you will let us...

The townspeople seemed intent of doing mainly one thing, nothing, though it was clear some of them had already made up their minds, it made Lieutenant Collins nervous, if everything he had learned recently he would have thought these people might have treated the Ori and the powers of the priors more skeptically or at the very least less mysticism, however a point could be made they hadn't known anything other than very powerful or all powerful 'gods' if his grand mother had heard him think that he might not have survived childhood, however he had to admit sometimes he felt similar, though he knew the Ori were taking the Galaxy on a crusade it was clear, his train of thought was interrupted as a few more villages came closer to the group. 

"We will make the decision for the entire town at the meeting tonight, not before." The old man said looking around, it seemed to calm the growing crowd but one of the newer entrants a very well built and tall man stepped a few steps closer halfway between the team and the two older people after Major Williams spoke. "We come in peace! We're here to HELP you if you will let us..." That wasn't quite true, the first part yes, the second part not so much but then again he wouldn't not help them if they could.

"You cannot help us, the Ori are powerful they have stopped even the Tau'ri, we cannot hope to fight them if you and the Jaffa cannot." There was poison particular at the word of the mostly former soldiers and enforcers of the late Goa'uld Empire. Ethan decided to speak. "Wont the Ori know your belief is false, if you choose to give in that way?" the Big man was bucked up by a pair of similarly built men. "It matters not what you say, she is right, you should leave, if even to protect your selves from the Ori." Collins sighed quietly, it was unlikely they couldn't persuade these people.

The townspeople began to disperse however the Trio of men and the older pair who looked at each other with nothing less than contempt then looked to the team, the woman's gaze a mix of fear and hate, the elderly man's a mix of despair and pleading, the Lieutenant felt he was of the view that the Ori weren't likely gods, or at the very least in Ethan's mind felt they weren't worthy of worship, either way they weren't wanted or welcome, they should perhaps see what they could get from the possible anceint ruins and then leave, preferably before the Ori showed up, like all the other teams, they were to do what they could to avoid a confrontation with the Ori.

Collins looked over to the others the Marine caught his gaze, they were both thinking something similar, do what we can before we either get mobbed by the town or the Ori or their salesman show up. "maybe we should case these ruins." He said quietly, just enough for everyone to hear, Doctor Martinez seemed to look at Him then to the Major, were they going to call an end to the mission or persevere and do what they could in the likely short time they had.

Sierra watched, her eyes moving from men to her team. The faces of the former were unreadable, but the latter seemed mixed. Her XO was a bit weary; she could tell by the look in his eyes. The younger two were hiding something akin to mirth, but she was all poker face. These people were either stupid, brainwashed, or else feared significantly for thier lives. Interesting. Of course, the Ori were a powerful race, and seemed to be engaging in War of the Worlds Part Three.

We will make the decision for the entire town at the meeting tonight, not before...You cannot help us, the Ori are powerful they have stopped even the Tau'ri, we cannot hope to fight them if you and the Jaffa cannot Uh huh. The Ori hadn't met HER yet! But she just shrugged. Their funeral.

Then, Collins piped up. Of course he did; at first, she wanted to punch him in the nuts, but then she reminded herself that that was WHY she'd tapped him to begin with.

Wont the Ori know your belief is false, if you choose to give in that way? She hid a smile, but turned back to see the man. He seemed unmoved by Ethan's impassioned response. Oh, well. maybe we should case these ruins. Sierra turned her gaze to Ethan.

Great suggestion, sir. Lead the way. Martinez, take center point, you know this better than anyone.

The point he had raised was easily brushed off by the townspeople, they clearly feared so greatly for their lives they would go right back into servitude of god posers, while he would admit the were certainly more powerful than the Goa'uld and not all of it was necessarily technological, they still weren't gods, besides only the Priors had powers, powers which as from his reading could be linked to being closer to Ascension, but still if what else was floating around the SGCs's files on this subject Particularly by Doctor Jackson, other SG-1 members and reports from other SG teams it was clear they had no intention of ascending their followers, but they weren't here to convince them of the folly of following the Ori, merely to see if they had come to town, and from what he could pick up, they seemed ready to fall to the Ori.

"Great suggestion, sir. Lead the way. Martinez, take center point, you know this better than anyone." Ethan nodded and after getting the directions in a general point he lead the group out of the town towards the ruins.

about twenty minutes later they arrived at the ruins it defiantly fit the 'ruins' description, it was mostly the remains of a building two and well a third main corner pillars the rest of the structures littered the area however he felt something change it was almost nothing, barely a feeling, but there he wasn't sure if he was just put off by the villagers and the adrenaline he'd had during the situation in the town was wearing off or if it was something else. 

Doctor Martinez almost ran toward the ruins she had apparently found something she found interested, Ethan took off with her, but she was pretty quick and he was also looking out for signs of a traps, explosives or anything else. He arrived at a fallen over pillar looking device one who's markings were nearly worn off due to age. He stood next to her as he looked it over. he was about to turn her around when she grabbed his hand and pressed it to the pillar, some small lines appeared all over it. "I knew it" She said restraining herself from shouting. "It's Ancient Ancient." now that in most other circumstances wouldn't have made sense, but after learning what he had after he got his clearance and went through another exam made sense, he was related to the Ancients, a descendant of one or more of them, something that honestly had had him a little worried until it had all been explained to him, it also had gotten him a trip to Antarctica admittedly via beam transporter but still, they'd made him sit in the control chair, apparently he was more adept at it than quite a few others he was apparently in the upper middle area of gene use, which was kind of nice.

With a look of curiosity and well something like stupidness he asked. "what is it? what does it do?" He was very serious but the Hispanic doctor just smiled wide at him. "I have no idea I just got here, either way it does... something or at least it did." That was very helpful. "So I might have just activated some sort of beacon for the Ori to follow or an Ancient doomsday weapon?" he didn't want to be known as some interstellar/intergalactic doomsday bringer. she just looked away. "usually Ancient weapons are a little more immediate, probably maybe a transporter pylon, fits the description of other similar types of devices, probably doesn't work because it's you know fallen over or the receiver might also be down though this still seems to be getting power." Oh great, so he could have just transported himself and or anyone else somewhere on this planet or possibly to another, it was just getting better.

Ethan looked around covering the surroundings as best he could it seemed likely he was going to be the one stuck with the scientist at least for this one. He looked to the Major, pleasing with his expression, 'please save me from the crazy woman' .

The team finally arrived near the ruins. The Stargate program REALLY needed to invest in some sort of vehicle that could fit through a Gate, not scare the pants off locals, AND was operable by people who didn't possess the ATA gene. There was enough brains in the place that Sierra fully believed it was possible. Hell, SHE would look into it. It could be foldable, even! Ok, Sierra, now you're just being plain crazy.

Dr. Martinez was a little bit like a child at a candy shop; the sheer glee in the woman's eyes was palpable, and even Sierra couldn't help but feel awe at the sight of the Ancient ruins. It was a beautiful thing, when you took time to think about it-that societies more advanced than thier own exisisted for millineia, just a few thousand light years away. Was it weird that the Air Force officer thought this "beautiful?" Perhaps. BUT...interacting with species that were sentient, but DIFFERENT-well, it was what made the world go around, right?!

I knew it! It's Ancient Ancient... Sierra smiled. As opposed to what other kind of ancient?! But she was happy that at least ONE of her teammates got to "score" this mission. They took some soil samples and walked about a moment before she heard the new guy's voice. Collins. What was he DOING?! She looked up, blue eyes dancing.

what is it? what does it do?... Good question...wait, where was her right-hand man?! So I might have just activated some sort of beacon for the Ori to follow or an Ancient doomsday weapon? Captain Benjamin then appeared at her side. He'd been doing forms. Good man; she'd trained him well. Rather, his wife had, but whatever, Sierra was grateful that he didn't waste time. She watched the interaction between Soldier and Scientist a moment before she interrupted, saving Collins from Amanda.

Dr. Martinez, we were supposed to also bring back some life samples, if possible. Help me find some bugs? She nodded once at Collins. If she were going to be stuck with the brains, he better do something useful.

Doctor Martinez still wasn't happy with Ethan's panicking but it felt justified, then again he'd caught sight of Captain Benjamin holding back a wry smile, damn, he was going to get it, he already felt the team kind of had the male with male female with female dynamic established before he got here, but he also felt a little something else, probably the fact they were off world and the civilians around the base, then again it wasn't his first military foray with civilians he had manage to get pretty much flight qualified for the 302s before he came to this team, however he honestly felt he could do better in a team like this than in the seat of one of those. "As I said Lieutenant, shouldn't have caused anything too untoward." He gave up and nodded, it was then almost too late Major Williams saved him.

"Dr. Martinez, we were supposed to also bring back some life samples, if possible. Help me find some bugs?"  Finally, Ethan move away and toward the Marine, who smiled ever so slightly at him. "She's going to love you and your genetics, I already know Lieutenant." Ethan stood a good metre or two away from the Captain as they both scanned the tree line. "thanks, sir I feel better already." They weren't due to report back or come back through the gate for a couple of hours so they might as well get cosy. 

Amanda looked at the Major. "fine, but lets get these quickly, these ruins are much more interesting thank soil and bugs Sierra." There was something in the Scientists saying of the the Major's first name that was a little boundary pushing at least for the military.

About half an hour Later Martinez finally got a chance to continue looking at the Ancient device, a hour or so later she jumped up fairly quickly coming over to where the Major had placed herself both Collins and Benjamin had looked over their shoulders to observe the commotion. "It defiantly was a transporter obelisk," She glanced over at Ethan with a 'Such a worrier for nothing' look, ah well he'd still sleep tonight, even though it was coming p to late afternoon the light was beginning to fade slightly on the planet and they were due back or to check in just over an hour. "it seems both this obelisk and the other in its pair are damaged I managed to get their operating systems to be understandable, I still have no idea where the other is, but it seems the other end only went down recently, within the last couple of months." It was clear Martinez wanted to spill it all to them right now. "Scientists really go all the way when they blurt sir." the Marine just nodded as they both kept a look out once again on the tree line.
