Captain Kelly Miller snapped the file shut in front of her before tossing it on her desk with a low growl. Case closed. BLOWN, actually, and there was a certain Navy JAG about to get a whole lotta Marine in his face. He'd taken a plea even after they'd talked and decided it was a BAD idea?! So what had been the POINT of it?! To string her along? Well, HIS funeral. She stood up to go yell at someone, and then realized that it was time for her first deposition. A young man was on trial for allegedly striking his CO. She'd read his personnel file, he was promising, and had, it seemed to HER, made just a small judgement in error-of course, she needed the whole story, and assault was never OK, but it kind of seemed to her as if both parties were at fault-so why was only ONE arrested? Of course, she DID realize it was the Corps in combat time, so maybe that was why. She alerted Callaghan, the Battalion's XO, so he could give her his version of the story. She had the arrest report, but she needed to hear all sides. Later today, she'd head over to the Brig and interview the accused.
She waited for the Yeoman to show in the XO and she smiled warmly as he entered. She stood as he came in; salutes and nicieties were exchanged. Finally, she indicated that he should sit, and began to speak to him.
Sir, I'll just need YOU to tell me what you know. I have the arrest record, and later I will go speak to the Marine, and his CO is being interviewed by my partner. Just lay it out for me, ok? She was a very sharp woman, and would understand the gist of it all, even while taking notes
lots of words , TAGGED:John Callaghan, NOTES: hope this works for ya.
