Tom was still recovering, both physically and mentally from the previous day, however, the fact he'd been sent out on patrol was a relief even if time with his thoughts sometimes was worse for him than being with people he had been given something to do. He'd kept in his patrol area, however he had an advantage a few of the others didn't have and was the fact he was alone right now the Ancient gene and he'd been given a life signs detector to help him remain alone, the city was in bad shape and he'd only managed a couple hours sleep, they needed him to do something and this is what he ended up doing, he was still a little put off by his knew abilities. 

Walking along the forest he hears a beep out of the usual rhythmic beeping of the device, some sort of sensor has activated, expanding the field of view of the detector with a thought, he sees two life signs, they didn't seem to be moving , well maybe a little but it wasn't threatening. Deciding to check it out, he walked in the direction of the two life sings, he got within a hundred or so metres before they moved, not fast and not directly away from him.

A few moments later a brief life signs move past the other two, along with something weapons fire like, he wasn't sure what but it sounded like one of the alien weapons he'd used once or twice during his training for this expedition. He picked up his run the ground making damp, wet sounds as he ran. appearing in a clearing he saw two familiar faces, one of them holding a zat. Tom lowered his P90 but glanced down at the immediate range display on the detector. 

"Sergeant you didn't just have something go past ya like a cut cat?" He looked to Fiona and then back to Alexander.

Fiona startled at Tom's appearance. She had thought the patrol stayed dog-wide of the forest interiors, or at least, they SHOULD. She noticed that he had a life signs detector. Made sense, then, especially with the Genes. She and Chambers BOTH had it. But how had it gone off? She must've tripped a signal of sorts, or gotten too far past the Bases' security parameters.

Bloody hell, Chambers, you gave me a fright. What ARE you doing? She stopped and looked at Ryan. We're meant to be FINDING the cat man. Since you've got that, and he's got gun, we should probably work together. I can hear him, but only if he'll LET me in. I think it's the genes...do you hear him? She said to Tom.

She turned back in the way she had been heading.

Sergeant you didn't just have something go past ya like a cut cat? Ryan nodded still scanning the area. “That thing didn’t look like a cat, or anything feline. It looked more canine to me.” Not taking his eyes off the forest.

Bloody hell, Chambers, you gave me a fright. What ARE you doing? Ryan wanted to baulk. He wanted to shout that he had nearly lost his head and she was more concerned about Chambers sneaking up on here. She had said the Aear was in front of them, they thing had come from behind them. But being the good Marine that he was, he kept his thoughts and emotions to himself. We're meant to be FINDING the cat man. Since you've got that, and he's got gun, we should probably work together. I can hear him, but only if he'll LET me in. I think it's the genes...do you hear him? Ryan assumed that she meant about the ATA Gene. He wasn’t a carrier, something that he was a little jealous about. He had hoped that maybe he would have been able to pilot one of those neat jumper ships. But unfortunately it wasn’t too be. Ryan watched Fee turn, back to the direction that they had been traveling.

He knew that Chambers would be armed as well but Ryan suspected that there was something else out here, maybe it came active when the Koan came active, maybe it was normally out here. Ryan didn’t know though he suspected that he would find out soon enough. “Chambers if you want to take point, since you have the detector, I will bring up the rear. I don’t think that Fiona’s alien friend is the only thing out here with us.” Ryan commented keeping on the alert.

 damn he thought, no more aussie slang, it confuses them. "I meant did it go past you really fast, sorry, an Aussie term Sergeant." He looked towards Fiona who seemed worse for wear more so than the marine.

"Bloody hell, Chambers, you gave me a fright. What ARE you doing?" Uh... that was a question he had the answer to, but finding the right words to express it was the hard part. Fiona then addressed Sergeant Alexander and came back to Tom at the end.

"We're meant to be FINDING the cat man. Since you've got that, and he's got gun, we should probably work together. I can hear him, but only if he'll LET me in. I think it's the genes...do you hear him?" Oh the cat man, the alien, what was him name.

Tom looked quizzically at Maccafferty. "If you mean the alien cat man I forgot the name of then no... I sometimes hear or feel something from the city, Ancient tech requiring the gene in general, but it's nothing more than a buzz or a physical sensation, it's worst around jumpers or the control chair, but stops when i start using them..." He really didn't understand it, he might have been brighter than the average cookie, but this was so far above him he just sort of accepted it.

"I think he went this way; I am not sure if your device there is gonna be much help-his magic lark allows him to be invisible" He knew basically what it did, but a scientist was a much better explanation than he. "well it picks up bio signatures and also power generation along with a hell of a lot of other things, far to complicated for my sapper brain to understand, give me a nice bomb to disarm or well to build and I'll give you all the ins and outs... this stuff..." he shrugged finishing off his sentence.

“Chambers if you want to take point, since you have the detector, I will bring up the rear. I don’t think that Fiona’s alien friend is the only thing out here with us.” Tom nodded at the marine Sergeant. "Should we follow that other life sign... because..." He paused and brought up the wider area display on the detector before confining it to its default range with a indicator as to the other life signs direction. "I'm not getting much else other than the city, us, the other patrols and the documented clusters of animals." He turned in the other life signs direction and took a couple of steps before looking back to get a reply form the others.

Liam never liked being cooped up no matter where he was, Meropis is no different. Liam never went anywhere without his sidearm since he was a Border Patrol Agent, he felt he needed it now more than ever. You never know what kind of alien creatures could be lurking around Meropis. Meropis was very similar to Atlantis, the only difference being Atlantis is in the ocean while Meropis is on land, although it probably could be set on the ocean like Atlantis... Nevertheless, Liam liked Meropis better. He likes hikes and jogging and being outdoors in general, which is why Border Patrol was an attractive career choice.

Liam was very wary of his surroundings in the forest surrounding Meropis, he was also wary of Aear, the cat-man. Aear was an alien and a hybrid at that. A Human-Cat with magic, now Liam thought he heard it all until he read his file. Now the cat was out in the forest on his own and Aear lost him, from his days in Border Patrol he knows how to sneak up on someone and he knows how to be quiet, but Aear was gone. Liam had nothing with him that could help him track the cat, he had no life-signs detector and he didn't have the ATA gene to activate it anyways. But he knew how to track footprints, but he lost them already. He did however pick up new tracks from a few people. Liam knew they were all human and he pulled out his SIG Sauer P228, Air Force OSI's standard sidearm, and he held the gun with both hands, his right hand being the primary hand and his left being the supporting hand. He heard talking up ahead and didn't recognize the voices but knew one of them were female, one was Australian but not Decker and the other was American, so he thought anyways.

Liam walked towards them and held his gun ready to fire, the safety was on but he wasn't sure who it was just yet. He held the gun when he snuck on them and pointed the gun at them then quickly lowered it once he saw them. "You fools, you were all about to be shot. What the hell are you people doing out here?" So maybe their not fools but ehh, they did almost get shot...

Fiona was ready to unleash Jacques, even despite Tom's presence, because it was quite dark, and she was getting tired. The activities of the day before, combined with the argument she'd had with Aear had exhausted her, and she was simply tired. Plus, she was cold.

They moved, heading forward a little. They were stopped, though, by a voice. AGAIN?! Someone was going to get it! She turned around, brown eyes flashing.

Fee was alone, essentially, with three men she didn't know well. She was NOT going to stay without a DAMN good reason. And some overinflated Military blokes' orders WEREN'T a reason-she was a civillian.

“We really don’t have time for your grandstanding. We are trying to find Aear, who was injured in events of the past 24+ hours. While I am sure you were briefed when you arrived, it was a mess and a lot of people were hurt, the Aear being one of them. We are all on edge at the moment, so please try not to poke the nest.” Ryan was trying to be diplomatic. He was still a Marine Corps Sergeant, and his little, angry, head reared from time to time. Ryan was doing his best to keep it in check. “IF you are going to help, please refrain from sticking to the American Stereotype of swinging around you manhood because you think it is the biggest, baddest, and the best, it doesn’t help the situation.” Ryan said before Liam could respond. Ryan was taking control of the situation, he had nearly lost his head to some creature and he was pissed. “Ms. Maccafferty, please tell me you sense the direction that Aear is moving in.” Ryan asked as diplomatically as possible. “Lance Corporal Chambers, based on Fiona’s inclination, do you have a positive read on where that creature went as well as Aear? As soon as you do, I’ll take point. Please stay close to Ms. Maccafferty, as soon as you see movement, call it out with the direction. I want to make sure that we can bring Aear back to safety.” Ryan turned to Liam. “Please bring up the rear, and don’t shoot anyone. While I am certain you are fairly decent with a pistol, this isn’t the movies. A pistol is not a sniper rifle and can’t kill things at 200 meters.” Ryan commented. “Alright team, lets move.”

Obviously, whatever the hell BORTAC was was CLEARLY not enough preparation for an Irish Storm. He might "counter-intelligence", but she was just intelligent. Liam holsters his gun and makes sure his handcuffs are visible next to his holster on his belt.

As much as Ryan wanted to scream and yell at Liam, Ryan knew that it wasn’t going to help. Liam was too much in fantasy land, and was hiding behind his badge, and using it as an excuse to be disrespectful. Ryan wasn’t going to take any part in Liam’s ego trip, nor willing to rise to Liam’s bait. “Unless you are charging us with a crime, then with all due respect, I think it is best we let you carry on with your task. Being OSI, and a border patrol agent, you should be more than capable of finding Aear without our assistance, we don’t want to interfere with your investigation, we will be more than willing to answer any questions that you may have back at the base.” Ryan turned to Fee. “It is getting a bit late, and it is getting harder to track him in the night. Fiona, I think it might be best if we continue the search in the morning. We can brief the General as soon as we get back, and see about getting a bigger team together to find Aear, maybe even get some Jumper support to help speed up the search.” He suggested to Fee. Ryan stood in between Fee and Liam. "I will not, nor will I even consider, forcing you to do anything that you don't want to do." Ryan said.

Stalking his target from above Aear was waiting for the right opportunity. A large dark blue beast which Aear presumed was part canine and part ursine. He however, was part cat and he was waiting till it felt right. He wiggled as he lined himself up and then he, quite literally, dropped right on top of the beast. Using his left he swiped at the creature digging a gash with his claws. Aear hadn't anticipated the creatures reflexes however, launching himself towards the creatures head it bolted. Damn, that thing's fast!

Time for a new plan. It couldn't quite as fast as Aear but it could react almost as fast. He'd have to cut it off and confuse it. He didn't like the idea, it used far too much energy, but to bring down this one he'd have to send it in circles and wear it down. Dropping to all fours for better running speed Aear moved off in an tangent and circled around to appear infront of it. Cy. The was a chime from his device as his double bladed sword formed. [Device Form.] Now, he was ready.

The beast came crashing through the trees towards him and he made a leaping lunge, blade at the ready. It struck home digging into the beasts shoulder as it reared before Aear pulled it out and swung round ready to strike with the other side but the beast had started to flee back already. Back to Fee and the others. Aear gave chase, not knowing who he was going to bump into. He'd slowed it down and could track it's blood now. The hunt wasn't going to take much longer.

It thrashed through the trees bursting out back to Fee and the others where it had gotten into another scrap. It was not the creatures day at all. It was scared and wounded and surrounded by threats. Rearing up to make itself as big as possible infront of Fee, it was Aear that subdued the beast. Leaping out from the same undergrowth Aear went for the neck and clamped his mouth down. The beast holwed in pain before it's fur turned grey, it withered and then turned into dust. Aear landed on his knees but didn't look at any of them. Looks like the cat was out of the bag now.

(just as a note, there are far to many posts for me to respond to properly, I am going to sum up toms thoughts untill the last few before hand this one)

As they were getting ready to move out a new life sign came up we had shown the the Life signs detector to Sergeant Alexander past his shoulder. as the being moved into the open he spun weapon raised, the man seeming more anoyed with there presence certainly got off on a bad foot, and as he berated them and Fiona plus Alexander retorted he just watched with amazement as they went back and forth, the left hand was fighting the right hand and he was sure the hand that embodied Alexander would win in a no firearm fight, then again Tom probably wouldn't let the other guy win, war isn't fair.

They continued to go between each other, tom pulled of his cap and run a hand through his hair he was far to tired and exhausted to put up with this for long. He was happy when the Marine gave him an order.

"Lance Corporal Chambers, based on Fiona’s inclination, do you have a positive read on where that creature went as well as Aear? As soon as you do, I’ll take point. Please stay close to Ms. Maccafferty, as soon as you see movement, call it out with the direction. I want to make sure that we can bring Aear back to safety.... Please bring up the rear, and don’t shoot anyone. While I am certain you are fairly decent with a pistol, this isn’t the movies. A pistol is not a sniper rifle and can’t kill things at 200 meters...Alright team, lets move. " He nodded at the Sergeant but Maccafferty and this 'special' agent weren't done.

They went between each other a few times but the red head's position was clear, she no longer wanted to be here, the agents response to being invited to follow the Sergeants lead was surprised he just look at agent Hart with the look of utter exasperation, was he insane?

But when Australia came up the urge to teach this man a lesson via percussive maintenance to the head, came very close to happening, he concentrated on his thoughts, of home, of the people relying on them he took a few deep breaths. He then continued to berate them.

It was once the personal insults started that it became a problem along with his threat. "Hey mate, no one, and I mean no one gets off being able to threaten anyone, I couldn't give two hoots if you mummy or daddy was this or that, just like my father being an Australian Army Major doesn't mean jack to you,  now why don't you too settle this, and if Meropis has a car park I'd advise doing it there, but just have a bloody fight for gods sakes..." He stopped as Alexander stepped between Fiona and Liam. he gave the special agent a cold stare.

"As for the General, I'm afraid he is judge and jury in this galaxy mate, unless you have the power to force civilians to Dial the Stargate which I promise you is hard enough even if you aren't a giant knob." he paused "As for what we should do, honestly I think you should go back inside the damn base, coming out here intending in going beyond the patrol perimeter with just a side arm, Do you have a death wish?" He then looked to Alexander and Fiona. "If you'd like Sergeant I could continue the search for Aear until you get reinforcements out here, even with Special Agent Hart, if that makes everyone happy," He took a breath and looked back at Hart. "But I have a few conditions on you coming with me, first we must get you something more than a side arm and..."

The sound of a an unimaginable beast and crashing trees filled the air. everyone was so close together, as the beast reared up in front of Fiona and Alexander. he raised his P90 only to see it turn grey, 'what the hell...' he thought holding his fire. the figure of the alien cat man was there on his knees. "Aear?" he said butchering the beings name with his accent. he Lowered his weapon and looked at Hart, now was he going to explode at Aear, because if he did this man was off his nut and he'd have to take the mans weapon/s for everyone's safety.
