Fiona was still not totally comfortable. She probably never would, actually. She was about to respond to Tom when she was rudely interrupted by Blue. Even Fee was mannered enough to excuse oneself.

Maccafferty-san, the young JAXA analyst spoke, holding up her tablet. Fee understood; Blue wanted her to work, but Fee was here on ORDERS from Harrison, and she was a rule-follower. When a doctor, or one of the CO's, asked her to do something, she did it. Except Glavish. He had taken THAT respect away.

She smiled lightly at Tom.

Excuse me, please, She pressed some buttons on Blue's tablet-a sort of "autopilot" for the code system to clear unnessecary disk space and run the virus scans. It would keep Blue occupied while she finished her beer and got out of there. She sighed, swigged, and then turned back to Tom.

I guess I should get back to the Lab; apparently, no one can do anything on their own. As I said, movie later in the labs, you should come by if you'd fancy. It'll be a lot nerds...just stay dog-wide of Aear, and you'll be fine. She laughed, and then finished.

Thanks... She headed out of the room, ignoring the pointed look from Roger. She had COME, hadn't she?! Not that she was going to go to work just yet, she wanted to see what Black was up to, and should probably fix some tea to negate the beer. She sighed. If she were going to be the one in charge of the computers, she needed a promotion. And a raise...and a bloody day off.

It seemed he was right, Fiona was a hell of a lot more intelligent than he was, maybe she would get along well with Sarah, not that he wasn't stupid, he just knew he was outclassed is classic intelligence sense, not that guile and some Aussie determination couldn't over com that. "My actual title is Technical Analyst. I run the systems, do all the coding to keep the computers up and running. I also have an engineering degree, so I can also fix things when they break, as well. Plus, me da was an auto mechanic when we moved to the US, so I also know how to repair cars and planes, and rockets. I am basically your run of the mill NASA nerd, I suppose." He nodded. 

"I Have a post secondary qualification in electrical engineering, been very helpful with understanding how some of this city works when I try and put it back together... or stop it from falling apart. But I usually don't have much trouble with computers, I try not to kill them." He was then surprised to hear a louder voice through it all, another Aussie, seemed stronger more determined he looked over his shoulder, a DPCU clad... he looked for moment, Lieutenant, hmm... interesting.

They then got back onto the subject of drinks. "Never had bourbon, but I don't fancy wine. Bitters are OK; occassionally I'll have cocktails if I am out someplace." He nodded. 

He then asked about the magnetizing. "Easy enough, I magnetized a needle, and used it to coax the wires. Sort of like how you would manetize a needle if you were lost in the forest. My office is open to the whole base; you shouldn't need a team, or a pass, but I understand on the feelings. I've been tired." He took another mouthful of beer. "I just meant I am busy with that right now, not that I think I will, apparently thinking for yourself even a little isn't a good thing," He shrugged. 

"I understand. I get out in the forest occassionally, but I'd like to see more. Just people worry, since I am a civillian, and not armed...well, just the Doc and the General, really, but it's nice they care, I guess. I have the gene, as well...It's...well. I didn't know about it. NASA implanted it when I was...I was in hospital there, and they did it then. Apparently, I signed something, but I don't remember and now I have it, and I don't know how to handle it. It's strange to be able to open doors, but sort of handy when I need to use the loo in emergency." 

"The chance to explore more would certainly peak my interest, as for the gene... I was born with it apparently, I am descended from actual Ancients, and the worst thing is I can't tell anyone in my family, Let alone my Twin sister. then again she's currently still training and studying to be a medical doctor, it's kind of off knowing something that is pretty life changing but then again that kind of goes with all of this doesn't it?"

"The scientists are showing Star Wars later, if you'd like to come along...might be nice to get away from the base for the evening. Going to be in the lounge in the female's quarters, since ours is bigger. Someone's cleared it for fraternization or whatever it's called." he smiled slightly. "I'll have to pass, I got gate guard duty tonight." 

It was then an Asian woman came in and interrupted. He sighed into his beer, then again the conversation was starting to wind up anyway, and the distinct voice of an Aussie mentioning AFL was more than enough to get him interested. "Excuse me, please," He nodded politely to signal it was okay. he drank his beer and almost finished it before Fiona returned to explain she was leaving. 

"I guess I should get back to the Lab; apparently, no one can do anything on their own. As I said, movie later in the labs, you should come by if you'd fancy. It'll be a lot nerds...just stay dog-wide of Aear, and you'll be fine.
Thanks." he smiled a little. "No Problem."

Maggie was distracted momentarily from the man in front of her. She heard something that turned her ear-an Australian accent. She seemed to have some kind of Kanagroo radar or something, because she moved her gaze towards the sound. A pretty blonde man stood talking with the Major. Maggie like blonde Aussie males. Actually, she liked most things male, she didn't care much about things like color, nationality or features. She just cared about size...she much preferred muscles, but at the end of the day, just about anyone with the right anatomy would serve her purposes. Her gaze flickered to Tom and Fee; they seemed to be getting along well! Finally, she noticed Dominic...WHERE was he going?! Hmm, she'd most DEFINITELY need to investigate that further.

She then smiled at Achilles. She was totally over this scene.

What do you say we get out of here, find our own kind of fun? She raised an eyebrow, and smiled again. This would be fun.

By your leave, Lt Aear returned Miller's salute with his own Meowtian fist to chest, that's how we do a salute. "It's master sergeant actually." Aear wasn't really hot on social situations but he made up for it with hyper cheerfulness and brazen overconfidence, or at least he liked to think so. It's good to see you. Enjoy yourself.

"At least i'm better with people then my project sister." He replied with an awkward smile. He was distracted however by Fee and Blue attempting (in his mind) to avoid socialising. His awkward smile had changed to a mischievous grin as Aear quickly scanned the room for the most boisterous person he could find hoping they'd pick up some socialising hints whilst being completely oblivious to his own needs to do so.

He spotted her a mile off of course and proceeded to grab both Fee's and Blue's hand and practically drag them over to the french woman as Blueberry helplessly mouthed 'taskete' to Roger.. "Hi."

Achilles stood there noticing how easily distracted the young officer was until she spoke again. What do you say we get out of here, find our own kind of fun?"

This should be interesting, Achilles had never been involved with a french woman, and Arson had never beenw ith a woman since he had taken a host.

Maggie led the Captain out of the room. She was running through the scenarios in her head-most girls might sleep with a CO to get ahead, but that would require Maggie to care more about her job than she did. For her, the most thought that went into it was "Do I, in this moment, want to sleep with this person?" If the answer was yes, she did it. If the answer was no-Well, it was hardly ever NO, but when it was, she just didn't. She DID prefer to leave the option open to the guy; she was aware of social norms, after all, and while she didn't care about reputations and regulations, she did care about being seen as aggressive. She wasn't, exactly, just willing.

Well.. I though you'd never ask. Why don't you lead the way my dear. She smiled. That was her plan.

Your cabin, or mine?! She knew that she didn't have to tread TOO lightly here; this wasn't Ryan, or Hopper, or even one of the faceless enlisteds...she had a feeling that Captain Jones had as much willingness and experience as she, so she was more willing to be forward than she would otherwise be.

"Well... my cabin has more privacy and comfort than yours I'm pretty sure." Achilles turned and led the way to his cabin. Today was certainly going to be a good day for the Captain. A good day indeed.

The General had finished the small juice drink and plate of nibbles he'd selected, it was nice but he longed for a steak dinner and a glass of wine. Meropis was a beautiful planet, but with the expedition being military, well the food reflected that of course. Jason Conway watched as Captain Achilles Jones entered the room, he'd ignored Roger, Kelly and he and floated toward Maggie Lefebvre like a magnet to metal. He'd watched the others, Tom talking Fee and Evans sneaking off toward the ladder hatch with Eastlyn and the others in tow but his attention kept returning to Maggie and Achilles. He said nothing, just watched as the two left the room, Maggie leading the base executive officer away from the party after a short conversation.

Conway didn't even raise an eyebrow, he just waited until the two left the room. He locked eyes with his legal aid, Kelly Miller and shared an expression. The two of them needed to leave this party and have a discussion about their staff and this Lefebvre's antics with them. Conway placed the paper cup and plate in the bin and strode toward the exit via Major Eastlyn, he leaned in to whisper in her ear, placing a hand on her shoulder,
"My office, tomorrow... Lefebvre." He smiled and patted her before leaving with Harrison and Miller. They might check back later and put in an appearance but generally the enlisted in the room would relax and enjoy themselves a little more if the senior command were out of the picture.

He'd go on to talk to Miller about a plan for Maggie, she needed assigning to somebody - she needed to keep out of trouble. As for Captain Jones absconding this evening with the young girl, well that was another issue but he was far too busy to deal with that at this point in time. He had manifests to sort and missions to authorize and review. Life in Meropis rolled on.

Back at the party, Captain Dominic Evans had just opened the roof hatch to the pier above the training area, all he needed now was a ball...

Kelly was just about ready to head out. She had personnell files to read-a couple of staffers had Gated over, still with unfinished legal work. She waiting for a mail call for some paperwork; she would do what she could from here, but some of them might have to lose rank/pay/a day off...none of it was TOO serious, minor things like parking violations, drunk in public, or things like that-"boys being boys," all three of them were male. She was also waiting for the French to send along the file for Miss Lefebvre...well, more accurately, the second half. But Kelly had read enough.

Her plan for the rest of the evening was to do the necessary paperwork for the two men-she and Conway could decide on an appropriate "punishment", for sure, and send that along to Command...Kelly wasn't one for brig time unless, of course, the offense was serious. But a 19 year old with a penchant for parking wherever the hell one felt like didn't fit that description in her mind. She'd been nineteen once; though she was mature and older at that age anyway, but still.

She tossed out the bones leftover from the meat product, never taking a watchful eye off the room. NOTHING escaped her notice-she saw Evans escape outside through the cieling vents. She saw Decker and Hart getting a little animated in thier conversation. She saw Maggie make her move with the XO. She even saw the aliens keeping to themselves. The young redhead, so out of place, so pained, left shortly. Yeah, she saw it all, and narrated it in her head.

Finally, things started to wind down-not that she minded, but she had hoped for the other's sakes that it would be fun-they all were working hard getting the base up and running and keeping strange beings at bay. They had cohesion somehow...a good mix of personalities, some louder than others, and while they WERE a little top-heavy, the command staff worked to ensure that no one was left behind.

So she wasn't entirely surprised when, after Maggie and Captain Jones left together-TOGETHER together-that he caught her eye. Yeah, she knew. It could be a big problem...but Kelly had a few ideas. She'd share those with the man later, as well as Doctor Harrison. She'd managed to avoid the Psychologist-not on purpose, exactly, but Kelly felt like she was fine...she had done some counseling after John had died, and then again later-and she didn't really see the point in opening up old wounds. She would, when the time for her yearly review came up, of course, but that was one of Kelly's personality flaws-she saw it as weak, and she was anything but. She was a high-ranking female Marine, she simply couldn't afford to look anything but fully in control.

She nodded once at the General, and excused herself. She better make a plan...she might be a CO but she WAS a JAG and was fully prepared to provide a defense if Maggie needed it...and she sure SEEMED to.

Excuse me, gentlemen... she said, making her way out of the room and down the hall, towards her office.

Paisley was still just standing there, rigid. No one approached her, but then why would they?! She didn't put herself out to people, spending most of her time in the infirmary, where she felt safe, or in the Comm's room, trying desperately but so far unsuccesfully, to contact Heliv. It was frustrating and scary, and she was a little on edge by the recent turn of events-the Koan were a lesser species, but the Federation had no rules of engagement for the species, as she'd never even HEARD of them. So she was hoping that she'd be OK even though she'd blasted the particles of a few of them all the way to the Milky Way.

She ate a little, just watching the interactions of the Tau'ri. She wondered WHO'S behavior was more normal for them-the seeming painful awkwardness of the science types, the silent brooding of the older leaders, or the loud, brash behaviors of the likes of Maggie and Captain Jones?! She wasn't sure. She would ask Doc H later. Then, she spotted one of the pilots from the Sun-Tzu who'd saved her life, who was talking to another man she didn't recognize. Leaving her food behind, she made sure to walk carefully (instead of floating as she might on Heliv) over, and engaged them in conversation. She mimicked the Australian's accent, as she had just passed Tom Chambers, and she STILL didn't "get' Tau'ri speech patterns.

Hello! I am Paisley. You were the one who beamed over my peering glass on the Sun Tzu when I shot down, weren't you? She said to Ryan. She turned and introduced herself to Liam.

Paisley Gregorvich, Princess of Heliv. She blinked once at the man. He seemed to have some kind of strange affect...an air of suspicion. Right, because the Tau'ri were unenlightened and didn't believe in "aliens" was how the Doctors explained it to her.

Ryan.s face was hardened a little as Liam went on to explain why the US had dropped the bomb, he could go into cold war geopolitics, but an human-alien city in another galaxy made those problems far smaller, at least for him, and as much as his voice counted, he always tried to get his government or anyone he could influence to cooperate.

"We dropped the bombs on Japan because we could and because we had to show the world our mighty new weapons and where else better to drop them? As for Germany all that I meant about them being a pain and all was that both times they tried world domination they were underestimated and both times they caused a world war, the only 2 we ever had, so that proves how much of a pain they were, although both times it did bring the world on the same page with a common goal which always helps." He ground his teeth a little Dropping a bomb because you could and you wanted to scare the soviets, who already had the weapons plans was a bad reason, it was one but a bad one at that.

"Because you could is hardly a good reason to wipe out a city, getting twitchy with a second red scare on the horizon was understandable, but blowing up nuclear weapons to scare Stalin who already had most of the Manhattan research, was probably a bad idea, in hindsight, after all when Truman hinted to Stalin in Germany, he didn't react, basically at all." The Agents next commend bright Decker away from his differences of opinion with the man, mostly.

"Well times have changed hell of a lot since then was what I meant, and had they known what we know now, then, well we would all be dead or slaves of the Goa'uld, we had hard enough time fighting them off, never mind with the knowledge and technology of the 1940's..." he nodded then spoke after a brief pause. "They have and they haven't, we have this now, and well our governments haven't changed that much in 60 years, same systems, but they have changed in other ways."

Their topic of drinking and qualifications was a much better party discussion topic, if still not completely normal. "I am part Irish, among many other nationalities. Well I went to college then I went to law school. There were plenty of parties in both, although law school was more studying with a couple of shots more than anything. I was never a fan of beer, tasted a little too metally for my tasting. I always liked the shots though, never to the point of getting drunk but definitely more than a buzz... Computer science... Piloting... I could see computer science for controlling the drones but for pilots? I would see that more as being aeronautics engineer, engineering in general..."

He smirked. "That would have been a nicer way of doing it, but then again, flying multi-million dollar aircraft gives you a bit of a rush, besides, as for the piloting, most pilots are engineers or aeronautical engineers, me I chose computer science, and they payed for it and I was allow to pilot, I feel it's part of the reason I'm here, picking something different, and a hell of a lot of luck." He smiled "Though You might not know why my Air force chose me, now that would be interesting, what would it cost me to get you to find out?" He asked a slight hint of amusement in his voice. He laughed a little. "Don't worry, I wont ask you to break any rules, not unless it was really necessary. "

The juicy part came back to the fore, 304s and WMDs.

"Australia is the little red headed step child, interesting. I thought of Australia as more than that, but I guess your opinion carries more weight since you are Australian. We would give Russia back their stargate considering now we can just take another one from an uninhabited world, times are different now from back then. However it doesn't matter what anyone does with a 304, we're not going to publicly divulge anything we find or release the fact that we have a spaceship such as the 304, it'd raise way too many questions. I don't think the purchase cost has anything to do with it, we only made one 304 and that was for Russia as part of our agreement with the Stargate and that ship was destroyed shortly after we gave it to them. I don't know if the US Government would make a ship and sell it to another nation, but I am not a Senator nor am I, the President. 304's are more powerful than anything on Earth, it is practically handing a weapon of mass destruction to another nation, except even more powerful, after all the plasma beam weapons the Asgard gave us, are incredibly powerful, I know you know that though, since you are stationed on the Sun Tzu."

"handing weapons of mass destruction to other countries or at least the ability for them to create their own isn't new, we both know every nuclear armed western nation was given or leaked or a combination of both the ability to create them by your government, the UK owes it's nuclear arsenal to the US, and Australia as testing ground, but still why does allowing the US sole use of 304s and most of the offensive gate derived technology,  make anyone even your allies feel safer, in fact, I feel more threatened, if you wanted to, there is not absolutely nothing nothing stopping you from wiping everyone but your selves our with what WMD you choose to use from your arsenal, can you understand how it must feel, to be at mercy, of one nation and to a certain point a single man, being the US president, imagine if it was Russia or even lets say the UK who had been in possession of the gate and we were in a similar situation, I bet the US would be angry or at least wanting a piece of the action, I bet probably a 304 at the minimum, now I am confidant the US would most likely never attack anyone on Earth, but with the Asgard transporters and sensors, you can selectively attack and defend from anyone without any concern for reprisal, for even if their dead hand systems activate with a skilled enough operator or multiples you could just beam all the missiles and everything else, that wouldn't be defeated by your more conventional missile defence systems, that to me is scary, more scary than life sucking aliens, parasites or energy beings playing god." It was lucky he had the backing of several high ranking people or he wouldn't be hear, and expressing legitimate concerns couldn't be seen as harmful could it?

Luckily, someone interrupted, the accent was odd, it was so similar to Tom Chamber's accent but it was feminine, it was far more hard ocker than Ryan's.

He waited before replying as she introduced herself to Liam.

I am sorry. I don't. I do what Doctor Harrison calls "mimicking" because you wouldn't recognize my native language. I don't mean to be offensive. She said in a monotone voice, but indeed with an accent. Her operating system organ (her brain) did this as a coping mechanism.

I'm sorry I sort beamed half of the other gold parts of your ship over, but I you seemed to need it and well, your ship wasn't going to hold together much longer. She nodded once.

It is understandable, and I am so glad to have my things. I am having trouble connecting to Heliv; something about solar storms interrupting the signal. I would feel out of place without it. She did her best to be reassuring, but she didn't know how to make her emotions come through in her voice. She then turned to the other man.

Liam Hart. In my language, Hart is bad word*, you might call it a curse word. Forgive me a chuckle. She felt like a girl still, whenever she said a four-letter word, that it was "bad" and that her female parental unit would punish her. For this serious man to have a silly name was funny to her. She went on, gesturing to the group.

Please help me to understand. What is normal behavior for one of these social gatherings? The watching, like the Elders, she indicated the General, Captain Miller and Doc Harrison. The "dialed-to-eleven" but seemingly effective behavior of the scary blonde woman, she indicated the retreating figure of Maggie Lefebvre, whom Paisley was a little bit wary of, but she DID have to hand it to the woman. Paisley had her pick of Helivans, but nothing like THAT. Maybe if she were smaller about the waist and larger about the bust? or you two? She asked this in earnest, she really DID want to know, but didn't realize that she may or may not be a TINY bit offensive.

Tag:Ryan Decker, @liam. *Hart, in Helivan, means "love" and it's rude/offensive to reveal one's heavy emotions on Heliv. Especially for the princesses, who are supposed to do as they're told, not what they feel like.

Liam being a spy knows when someone is trying to him off bounds, out of the comfort zone, when in reality, spies are versatile able to make them look confident even when they have no idea what they're saying or doing. Liam wasn't worried about this Aussie, or Australia in general. He'd be more concerned with the Chinese or Russians, but then again they're all involved and we all know pretty much the same things with regards to the Stargate Program.

Surely that'd be a fact. SG-1 had a hard time keeping them back and had it not been for dumb luck, we'd all be dead now like Doctor Jackson's alternate reality during the first year of operations.

"Computer science would be reasonable for UAV pilots and sure soon enough flying a plane or jet or chopper would be nice and simple and not have all unnecessary switches and buttons. Of course the 303's and 304's are simple enough to fly and one day it will be that simple for all aviation." Liam said not with personal notice as he wasn't a pilot but he knows what a cockpit looks like and he knows what the bridge of a 303 or 304 looks like. "I am a counter-intelligence operative, Flight Lieutenant. I know everything there is to know about all personnel but there are things I can not divulge not even to General Conway, as he isn't technically my superior. My superior is the Inspector General of the US Air Force as well as the Secretary of the Air Force. With that being said, most people are chosen based on background, experience, educational history but mostly luck. Don't ask questions you may not want to know the answer for..." Humans are weird and on our planet we have almost 200 different countries with probably over a thousand different customs and normal behaviors, so what is a social gathering like for your people?" She sipped her punch as Liam asked her a series of questions. She did her best to process them; while her operating system organ worked about as fast as a supercomputer, she had to translate everything into Heliv first, which slowed her down.

Well, we have an organ called a Giri, before our people became enlightened, we had internal structures like yours, but we lost them when we learned to improve our operating system. I used to serve in the Helivan Sea Guard. I understand what you mean, Mister Hart...we would get all kinds of people on Heliv, from the slaves to myself. It's compulsory unless you choose to give to Heliv instead, either through money or through works...I think you people call it "community service." After one year of compulsory service, we then go into different jobs, all preassigned at birth. Whatever your father did, you will do, too. A social gathering on Heliv is mostly a private celebration, held in one's home, but on Heliv National Day, we have a planet wide celebration; candles are light, and there's music and dance, and the King speaks on screens set up in every major city. Then we have a large feast. We have a winter holiday, as well, which is usually formal, with a ball and four days of parties. The young people sometimes have parties out of doors, but it's illegal on Heliv to have anything too ostenatious. We like peace. She hoped she was explaining things correctly. She had switched to mimicking Hart's accent, and now she blinked a little.
