Gents,

An opportunity has arisen for a little pay rise. As you are aware, I have had Dr. Kells standing in as temporary chief medical officer for a couple of months since Doctor Flanagan (our former temp. C.M.O.) was reassigned to Stargate Command, a decision that was totally taken out of my hands. Before Hamish we had another temporary chief join us for the launch of the expedition. The post is somewhat of a "defense against the dark arts" station from Harry Potter, as in nobody stays in for more than one term. You get the picture.

Kells has informed me that she is finding life out here a little challenging lately. As such, I have arranged for her to be transferred to the Sun Tzu at the end of the month as their medical officer. The Sun Tzu is due to embark back to the Milky Way on a supply run, giving her and the crew the chance of a well earned break. As such, I am looking for another temporary chief medical officer.

Having reviewed the expedition's current medical cadre, you two seem to be the best candidates for the role. Please discuss between you which of you, if any, would like it. If neither or both, I will choose myself, one of you needs to step up - if only for the short term. Of course, there is potential for you to be become full time C.M.O. once the trial period passes and if you are comfortable. It is a very, VERY demanding role, I warn you of that.

Dr. West and I had a discussion, and it's probably in Dr. West's interests to take over; frankly, he's young and energetic, and has a military background.

I would, however, like a conversation about promoting one of the nurses, if possible, to an aide position-we could both use the help. Or one of the unassigned personnel, at least for secretarial duties.

Thank you gents, in due course I will arrange for the paperwork to be put through. Roger, you will of course be relocated to Meropis for the short term to allow Dr. Kells the vacancy on the Sun Tzu. This is no great hardship to me, we have a lot of psych-eval work to do it seems... A rather disconcertingly large amount but then, this IS another galaxy after all and the stresses and pressures do tend to take their toll.
