Name Of Race: Helivans
Homeworld(s): Heliv. The planet of Heliv is covered in deep, vast oceans marked by landmasses. There are four major continents, Elysium, Myar, Arion, and Calliope. Elysium and Arion are connected by a land bridge, while Arion is in the south part of the planet, and Calliope is an unihabited contient in the middle of the far side of the planet. It is full of active volcanoes and unpredictable weather, due to where it sits on the axis. The other three are thriving-Elysium is a continent similar to North America, with temperate climates, changes in seasons, and vast spaces of open wilderness, where native animal species roam, most notably the Gayle-a bovine-like creature with three large horns-one on either side of it's head, and one sprouting from its nose. The Helivans use these as their major source of food. There are no large cat species, nor equine species. There are several species of avian creatures, some of which are also food sources.

Description: The Helivans are a "teenaged" race of aliens, all things considered. They are much younger than the Ancients, but older than humans. The oldest of the Helivans date to 8 billion years old (they are no longer alive). They are a humanoid species; that is, they appear to be humans, but are more closely related to fish.
The Helivans have a very storied history. They were once a colony of miners; refugees from some of the larger planets looking for Selenium and Copper, two essential metals. The Helivans use them for fuel, medicine, and cosmetics. They were running from wars that occurred on three planets-Esmillon, Cebos, and Danope. The three planets were mostly at war over resources-Cebos being the most rich in Selenium, Emillon having vast amounts of Copper, and Danope having ripe pickings of Gayles and Disheerans, a speices of marsupials that the Helivans considered delicacies (They are now a protected species). Danope eventually fell to Cebos, and the Cebosies moved in and nearly annihilated the animals living there. Emillon was taken by a different enemy planet, and the Cebosies and Danopes fled to nearby Heliv, which was uninhabited.
Heliv itself is only home to small amount of the necessary elements the citizens need for survival, so over time, they have formed trade alliances with the other nearby planets, and after the Great Wars, the four planets formed the Federated Galatic Empire. Not all of the planets are democracies-some are still kingdoms. Heliv is one of them, although they do have a small democratic wing (much like the government of the UK, for example. The king is mostly a figurehead at this time). The Helivans are a humanoid species, but have mostly fish DNA. They can survive just fine in water, and on land, an adaptation that allows them to "hide" from predators, as well as survive natural disasters better. They also do not need oxygen to survive, and can make their own nitrogen.
They don't have a planet-wide religion, per se, but the majority believe in a Sun-God, Petros, of which the Royal family is descended. Their language has no "Earth" equivalent, and is a mix of Cebos, Danopey, and other tribal languages. They can, however, translate other alien languages to thier own, and vice-versa, with very little effort. This is a side-effect of advanced intelligence as well as magic.
