Doctor Black's report following the expedition to Lillith's secret lab

Name of Race: Almeda, Prototype 001

Homeworld(s): Meropis, Triangulum Galaxy

Technological Advancement: Almeda seems to possess many of the same skills the replicators of the Pegasus Galaxy possess except one: she cannot self-replicate. Although she does have the ability to heal and repair damage cells with the consumption of new metals, this seems to take quite a while. Almeda has the ability to remote link with and access the ancient systems on Meropis. It seems that her purpose is for maintenance and upkeep around the city rather than attack or defense. She does have one key built in defense, the ability to produce an E.M.P field and disrupt any technology in her vicinity. Further examination reveals built in fail safes, if Almeda were to attack anybody or leave the planet without any further code put in place she would automatically disassemble.

Description of First Contact: First contact was on 25th August 2010. Our expedition, led by Captain Jones and Dr. Glavish discovered a hidden Alteran lab not far from Meropis on the planet surface. It is understood that Lillith primarily used this lab by herself. Almeda was kept in stasis within the lab and was activated by the presence of an ATA gene carrier (most notably Fiona Maccafferty). Initially, she confused us for Lillith and her co-horts, which suggests that the ancient needed to place Almeda in storage quickly. After scanning our language (most notably MY voice!) she was able to communicate with us and explain her existence, here she demonstrated a direct link to the central Meropis City mainframe. Almeda then went on to help defend us from an alien attacker via using her E.M.P field. Shortly after, she was nothing but compliant but insisted on tidying the lab first. She has since insisted on keeping the same appearance as displayed in the photograph below.

Hostile, Neutral, or Friendly: Friendly. Although General Conway has insisted she is kept under armed ARG guard at all times, Almeda has consistently demonstrated a desire to help us rebuild and understand the city. She also shares a keen interest in any new research we bring back from off-world exploration.

Research from Ancient Database: The I.O.A demanded I make research on her a priority. Whilst the idea of a repair droid sounds very appealing to them given the state Meropis now finds itself in, the idea of a replicator like being terrifies anybody who hasn't met her. In truth, my research clearly displayed that she was a pre-cursor to the Atlantis Replicators, and she doesn't have the capacity to create a working copy of herself in the slightest. In fact, any copies of herself would be defunct metal objects only useful to serve as decoys. Little else is on the system around Almeda and her file seems to end abruptly as she was placed in stasis, her location (where we found her) isn't actually stated on the database either.



More information will be added as I get it. Work continues alongside Almeda as she aids us in the science labs.

File A: Hurley, Michael. Designation: Oracle Three.

"Hurley watched from the video feeds of Able and Baker Teams as the human-form replicator powered up and emerged from her status chamber. She was defiantly human in appearance, a young woman of Asian appearance. She took a moment to ‘wake up’, and spotted the expedition teams standing before her. Much to Michael’s surprise, rather than kill everyone in sight, she politely introduced herself. With weapons at the ready, the teams began to question her, with Corporal Chambers and Doctor Glavish asking who she was and what her purpose was. She identified herself as Almeda, and explained that while she had been made by the Ancients, she wasn’t a Replicator. Her voice was uncertain and childlike, and not at what Hurley understood a Replicator to sound like.

The CWO opened a new up a new search and feed the name ‘Almeda’ into the Ancient database. Within seconds he was recorded with a wealth of information regarding the androids construction, testing and evaluation. He opened a link to the laptops and tablet computers of the two teams below and began streaming the information down to them. “Intel packets are on your screens,” he explained over the radio net.
 When Almeda mentioned that she had been created by Lilith, Hurley added her name to the search and began to skim the documents which came up on his screen. “She looks to have been part of a ‘family’ of androids built by Lilith,” he added over the radio as he scrolled down the file. “She was decommissioned and put on ice after she was deemed to be too emotional and unstable.”
 The android made a comment about the cloaking shield of Meropis, suggesting that she was still connected remotely to the City-ship. “She’s still linked into the city, I’ll see if we can jam her,” Michael added. He tapped the co-pilot of the Jumper on the shoulder and asked her to run a broad-spectrum jamming protocol."



File B: Black, Michael. Designation: Team Baker.

"Almeda, what is your primary objective," came a familiar voice in an attempt to distract her from the last radio transmission. Black looked up to see that Glavish was next through, followed closely behind by Captain Jones. Black tapped some more commands into his PDA then jolted his hand back in surprise. He noticed that it was now scrolling by itself. Searching through the database, it brought up a page of ancient text that filled the screen. Black frowned at it, then looked up at Almeda who flashed him a short smile. She had accessed the device for him! He set about trying to translate the text as quickly as he could, what was it that this machine had wanted him to read. Whilst he read, Almeda replied to Glavish,
"Oh, right now its to maintain Meropis." Black flicked through the data as fast as he could, skimming it and translating the obvious section.
The rest of Team Able had now filtered through the transporter to join them in the lab. The mission leader, Captain Jones asked,


"How is it that you are supposed to maintain Meropis?" Bingo! Black had found what he was looking for. He spoke up,
"Almeda means 'ambition' in Ancient. It seems as if this... Lady, we'll go with Lady, was built way before the replicators. As Hurley mentioned, others like her were built but it looks as if something broke out between Lillith and the other ancients... These notes are from Lillith herself!" He felt the burning eyes of others on him now as he continued to explain, "Lillith hid Almeda here and kept the location of this lab secret. Meanwhile, the others destroyed Almeda's younger brethren. This looks like it was about the same kind of time as the replicator war in the Pegasus Galaxy." Frowning at his PDA he scrolled down some more, "Oh... My ancient isn't brilliant but it looks as though Almeda is designed to repair damaged sections of Meropis and... Create? No not create... She cannot self-replicate and... Too emotional?" He paused to look up at Almeda, "Prone to tantrums, locking herself away in air ducts and refusing simple commands if not given appropriate recompense for her time... It also says here that she has automated fail safes. Should she either leave this planet or attack anybody with a certain DNA structure she will be forced to self-deactivate and disassemble her nanites... It looks like we're safe from her but I'm sorry I can't read anymore it's all jumbled up-"
