Dr. Roger Harrison's office
"Doc" Harrison, as he preferred to be called, busied himself around his office. He was getting ready for psych evals following thier last mission, and he wanted his office to be warm and inviting. He had set up a sofa , and he had a bright orange chair, as well, that he'd had the SG people send in for him. He hung a wool, blue and orange blanket over it, for comfort. Around the couch and chair, he had put some side tables, with little tchotckes that Lucy (his wife) had picked out for him. Finally, his own chair was situated across from the couch/chair set up, and behind that was his desk , where he kept the desktop neat, with just a lamp, his file boxes, and a photo of his wife and baby daughter, along with a pen holder and his desktop computer. Finally, along the left hand wall was a tall bookshelf, filled with tomes of medical journals, psychiatry books, and personal novels, including a shelf of his personal favorites. He would loan out books to patients at times, esp. the self-help ones, but occassionally the novels, if they expressed an interest in them. He kept most of his Mission related stuff in the locked drawer at the bottom, and in the others were files, paperwork, and general miscellanous. Normally, his desk was a bit messier, but when he'd been asked to do the psych evals, he decided that it would look better if he neatened up a bit. He thought Luce would be proud of him-he even DUSTED the lamp.
He took off his white coat and stethescope, and hung them on a hook near the door, getting more comfortable. It was impartive to him that people didn't view him as just a doctor, but rather as a teammate and a friend. Or a father figure, or whatever role they needed him to fulfill. He knew that some of them, the hardened military people especially, would NEED him to be a doctor, but he would rather not start off that way, hence the warm feeling in the room and the emphasis on comfort. To complete the scene, he placed a pitcher-proffered from the canteen-of water and some disposal cups on one of the tables. Finally, he got his notebooks and his favorite pen, and then opened the door to his office. He was ready. He turned the sign over on the door-he was old school, and preferred to have an "open door" policy so that anyone could come see him at any time-and he was used to academia, where oftentime young students WOULD turn up at all hours, needed advice, assistance, or simply a place to get away for a few minutes. This sign was simple, white and black. On one side it read "The Doctor is IN," and on the other, "The Doctor is OUT." He turned it to In, and then called out. The Yeoman that SG people had assigned him was competent, for sure, but he liked to do as much as was possible for himself. He could see in his patients.
Who's here first for their psych evaluation? He smiled at the person who stood. He was ready to get to work, and he wasn't going to be let off easy today.
