Brigadier General Jason Conway looked up from his watch at the keen faces in front of him.
"Well, I make it about five to two. Who's up for a bit of team building obstacle course fun eh We'll just wait for a few more to turn up"
Conway noticed Commander Riley, a few pilots, the Athosian girl from Atlantis and a few marines had turned up for the expedition team building exercise. He had done his best to arrange it, putting posters up on all the available notice boards around the SGC and even, much to the annoyance of the others in the room, brought it up at the last Meropis meeting.

He turned to look out across the course that had been set up for them, everyone had turned up full DPMs as instructed, this was going to be messy. The sun was bright and at it's fullest in the afternoon. Some of the team had just finished lunch, they might regret that. Conway had had an early lunch and had more than digested by now. He had planned a variety of activities for the afternoon they had off, and was really looking forward to seeing those that had turned up get stuck in. Jason still could not believe his good friend Paul Riley had turned up for this one.

Jason deemed that this was the best turn out he was going to get, the assembled throng watched in anticipation, some keen and raring to show of their skills, some giggling to themselves, and some like Riley standing with raised eyebrows and folded arms. Conway smiled and grabbed the attention of the expedition members.
"EXPEDITION! AAAHHH TEEENNNNN SHUNN!!" The military members snapped to attention, arms straight by their sides and bolt upright as Conway's voice screamed out, silencing the general chit-chat.
"Expedition. AAATTTT EEEEAAASSEEE." The military members assumed the at-ease position with their arms behind their back and feet shoulder width apart, the civilians just relaxed a little. Conway smiled.
"Ladies and Gentleman. Thank you for coming today, these next few hours will be filled with fun, hilarity, jokes and hopefully will let you all leave this evening with a smile on your face. Perhaps we can all joke about it over a curry and a beer tonight... First of all I'd like to say to the civilians among us today, please do not be afraid, I am a nice guy but do remember I am in charge. I'm here as your leader and your friend, as cliche as that sounds. Now. Onto the assault course itself..."

Jason turned to the course, gesturing in the vague direction of the entire thing which stretched away to the checkered finishing line flag at the far end, which could only just be seen through all the various obstacles placed in the path. This would be fun.
"First of all team, you will have to conquer the dreaded logs. Hoist yourself by whatever means you see fit up."

"Next, make your way to the sky rise. As you can see it is very, very high and it is made up of a ladder system with logs placed five feet apart. Here you will have to scale one side and descend the other without doing yourself any injury of course. This is particularly difficult due to the gaps between the logs."

He gestured to the next part of the course,
"This next one should be hilarious. You will of course be leaving two at a time, and as you can see there are two sets of ropes over this pond. Now this pond stinks, it does not get cleaned, it does grow algae and you will need more than one shower if you fall in. Not to mention the disgusting, filthy mud at the bottom. So I look forward to seeing people loose their balance here as they try to make their way across as quickly as possible."


"Next you will head through this small group of bare trees at a sprint, please don't run into any of them. We don't have enough medics. You will then dive onto your front and crawl underneath the barbed wire mesh before rising to your feet out on the other side and running on to this next obstacle."


"The wall. This wall is twelve feet high ladies and gentleman. If you can, then speed climb your way up it, I don't care but get over it as fast as you can before heading over to this next piece of joy."

With a smile on his face he continued,
"Rope swing! First you must climb up the entrance end and grab yourself the piece of rope. You must then swing to the island in the middle of this small lake, now let me just remind you here this link stinks, it festers and it is very, very muddy. Once you have successfully reached the island, if you are not yet soaking wet already, this is where you will be. You will dive into the lake and find your way through the murk, probably best to keep your eyes closed by the way, to a small tunnel. You will swim through this tunnel under the ground completely submerged before coming out the other end and rising to the surface in this dipping pool here. Where you will climb out and shake yourself off and head over here..."


"Finally, jump up and grab one of these two metal poles. You will shimmy yourself upside down along them, as if you fall, you will fall into a stinky, festering, pile of mud of course! Once you get to the end of this pole, drop down, get yourself sorted and sprint the last 100 meters across open, rough terrain before throwing yourselves valiantly across the finishing line and receiving your final obstacle course time."

Conway smiled as he took in the impressive sight of the course laid out in front of them all. He turned back to the group.
"You will be heading off in pairs, try to work together if one of you gets stuck. There are para-marines stationed at various points along the course with medical kit if anything goes terribly wrong, I really hope we don't have to use them... So... That all said and done, which two people would like to volunteer to go first" Conway's face beamed excitement out on the assembled group. Of course Riley, who was now shying away at the back of the group, had no idea Conway was going to choose him as his own partner when they do the assault course.

As Jason explained the obstacle course, Cira and Sadie eyed the details as he went along describing them. A smile crawled on Cira's face, looking forward to the challenge. She always loved challenges, even if they were simple obstacles courses. "Oh, sir! Can me n my RIO go first?" she said with excitement filled in her Texan accent.

With an affirmative nod from the General, Cira and Sadie began promptly as they formed two lines.

Approaching the logs, Cira knew the last two would take more work to get over, but it was the initial start, the build up that mattered. "Call it a race, eh?" Cira glanced over at Sadie with a grin. Studying the set up again with her hands on her hips for a moment, the RIO replied "Certainly."

"Ready annnd - GO." Cira lunged forward towards the first log, kicking off with both knees, the women both moved their arms forward simultaneously into a move called the 'kong'. Temporarily in a crouch, they balanced themselves on the log, balancing on the balls of their feet. Lunging to the next set, the 'modern female ninjas' wrapped their hands on the side of the log farthest away from them as they reaffirmed their balance. Since the third log was the final threat, they leaped forward the same way, only from opposite directions, they placed their arms to one side before lifting their inner most arm into a 'vault'. Using the momentum to swing their legs up and over. With her free right arm, Cira did a random salute for the fun of it as she swung her legs up and over. Both women 'fell' to the ground and landed in a roll. After one roll, Cira continue it by shifting into a cartwheel.

Next up was probably the least fun item of them all, at least it was due to their size. Both Cira and Sadie weren't even close to six feet. The 5 foot gaps with the thick logs would be a bit harder for them, even knowing Parkour. Not wanting to slow down, they had to think fast. Luckily, their knees were conditioned to take longer, higher leaps. Sadie was an equally good jumper thanks to being more experienced with Capoeira, and Cira had yet to learn more of it, so she had to rely a little less on momentum to get up to the first log. Cira however, ran up the left side full speed a few steps, before jumping up and over to the second log. Pushing up into a crouch, Cira used her supreme balance to lunged left and push off the side log again to reach up those few extra inches and pull herself up with that. Sadie was able to outright jump up being a little taller. Neck to neck all the way up, it was the top that made the difference.

At about 25 feet, each stood on either side of the thick ladder. ~"Oooh scary. 25 feet pushes my jumping limits a tad, not necessary for training."~[/i] Cira thought. Crouching down on the log again, Cira reached for either side of the log, one arm from the front, the other from behind. Swinging upside down, she planted her feet first before bringing her arms around to plant them the same way around before going to the third log down. Some 15 feet down, she simply jumped because it was easy for her, landing in a hard but smooth roll, her knees only whining at her recklessness slightly on the initial roll. Sadie however, went down more vertically instead of horizontally. Sadie was slightly ahead for a bit, until Cira jumped the gun and took the first leap.

"Nyaha, I win that one!" Cira said, making a thhhbbbt sound at the slightly lower ranking woman as she ran ahead towards the ropes. Sadie just laughed and jumped down, catching her breath a bit before bolting ahead to catch up.

And now for the dual ropes, Cira wasn't really going to use both ropes. Running to the start, Cira got on the edge and pulled herself upwards and upside down, resting her ankles across the rope and with a firm grip, began to shimmy like a speedy inch worm across the rope. She weight it down a fair bit more than normal, but it didn't stop her. Sadie however, got across by a typical form of standing on the bottom rope and side stepping across as quick as possible. "Shimmy faster!" Sadie said as she glanced over at her, side stepping along easily. "Hey I'm right across from you, no criticizing!" Cira replied with a cheesy grin, still trying to stretch her movements farther. Managing to do so beyond the have way point, Cira actually got ahead of Sadie thanks to her climbing skills and dropped her legs downward and off to the side to twist around and land on the ground before bolting off to the left course, with Sadie just a few steps behind her.

Cira and Sadie maneuvered through the trees at full speed, nearing the clearing, Cira kicked off a tree and rolled forward into a crawl. Boy did this take her back to her early days in the Marines. Fun times! She had done the barbed wire obstacle with a gun, that made movement a bit more restrictive.The key was to not raise your butt or head. Sadie was right behind, and entered the pattern with a simple swing of her body into a crawl; both women used their arms and knees for leverage. Cira could still hear her Sergeant shouting 'MOVE FASTER SHORTY, I KNOW YOU CAN!' and her barking as she moved through the barbed wires as she picked up speed just as vividly: 'IT'S CIRA, SARGE!'

(I got permission to go first, so I'll continue this in a post or two. These two chicks are fast due to their physical abilities, so hopefully, yall may wanna base your times around theirs, a bit faster or a bit slower. If y'all know of David Belle, think of that kind of athleticism in a female.

Someone can go with Jacob or Raiden, I'm more than willing to use them, particularly Jacob, he too has a pretty competitive spirit.)

Lucas watched the goings on with folded arms. The obstacle course eh...it was just an obstacle course. Glancing around it was obvious some were looking to be competitive and rush through the thing. While speed was important, watching your footing and surroundings were also important to make it through.

The obstacle course itself was challenging, of course it was supposed to be challenging to everyone. There were ropes, poles, wood and of course the military specialty...stinking mud and dirt.

Overhead the sky was dark with clouds, and it was obvious that they weren't any ordinary clouds because of the way small flashes of light could be seen from within the clouds.
"Things are just about to get interesting..." Lucas muttered to himself as he felt a raindrop hit his cheek.
The rain would make things slippery and harder to grip, making the entire course more challenging.

Figuring he just might as well get it over with, Lucas stepped up to the 'starting line'.
"I volunteer to go next sir. If anyone wants the other lane," Lucas began, indicating the spot next to him, "feel free."

With a quick glance out, Lucas eyed the two that had gone first. They were making some good headway but they weren't done yet.

Not to sound old fashioned but the words to go with Alec's current emotions was 'oh boy!'. Not only had she been recommended for the Meropis mission - which meant travelling to a whole other galaxy than her own, she had then found out that she would be required to go to the Milky Way Galaxy as well. What were the bloody chances? A girl who had always dreamed about adventuring through the stars had now the chance to not do it just once, but twice. And so here she stood, her eyes scanning an obstacle course. Something she had never seen before in her entire life. Her people were not like the Tau'ri, they were peaceful and mostly farmers and hunters, not fighters. She was the odd one out there.

It was now that she was feeling a little nervous, unsure of how she would fair in this kind of thing. She was agile, that was for sure. Alec would be able to manage most of the obstacles - she was much taller than five feet, closer to six and so the logs weren't to be a problem for her - she was flexible. Her main worry was the barbed wire crawling - definitely not something she had considered practicing back on her home world. It didn't bother her that she might be the slowest, she was the one who had never done anything like this before but she would definitely give it her best shot.

The two pilot girls went first, racing off onto the logs and Alec watched carefully, her eyes scanning ahead as she planned out the best ways to conquer all the obstacles. Once she figured that out, she spoke after the guy. He looked much older than her and tougher, but her natural confidence gave her the positive energy that she would be able to keep up. That was all she needed - the determination. "Guess if nobody else wants it, I'll take on the ol' guy," She gave a cheeky grin in his direction, it was not meant to be mean or rude, just a friendly tease.

Lucas looked at Alecia with a none too tolerant look.
"Old man? Well then you better prepare yourself young lady because...this old man's going to kick your @ss." He replied.

Facing front, Lucas eyed the logs; the first obstacle on this 'Maze of Doom.'
He already had a plan on how to get up and over quickly without using too much energy, now all he had to do was make thought become reality...by getting over it without getting dirty.
"Ready?" Lucas asked Alecia.

Her Majesty's finest, as he considered himself, Warrant Officer, First Class Dominic Evans stepped up to the mark just behind Alecia. He looked across the course as the pilot, Tex they called her, made her way through neck and neck with her RIO. He noticed Alecia and Lt. Col. Cafferey bickering on the starting line and voiced his thoughts in his British accent,
"Come on Ladies, lets move I want a go!"

He started stretching his arms and legs and made sure his boots were tied up nice and tight. He clicked his neck and turned to the assembled throng behind him,
"So who wants to go against this fella then eh"

Lucas shot 'the look' towards Steve Evans. Lady...really?! Jeez what was with the insults!
Rolling his eyes Lucas took his mark, not really caring if Alecia was serious about being his partner; he would know soon enough in any case.

His eyes went to the small countdown clock that marked the time.
~3...2...1...GO, GO GO!~ Lucas thought to himself when the clock marked the beginning of the next minute.

Pushing off with his feet, Lucas picked up as much speed as he dared, approaching the logs at a more or less even pace. Using his speed Lucas jumped on to the first log, using his arms to hoist himself up on to the second; just one more log to go. Not thinking about it Lucas pushed off the second log.

He tucked his knees in, leaning his body to the side, barely being able to preform a full 360 spin before landing on the last log. Keeping his balance Lucas jumped off, preforming an easy tumble to keep his forward momentum.

Next was the Sky Rise. Rolling his eyes Lucas ran even faster, reaching the bottom log which he managed to jump on using the 'wall climb' Parkour maneuver. Immediately he pitched forward while pushing off the log. He grabbed on to the next log; hoisting himself up with minimal effort. After doing this process for several logs, Lucas's arms were beginning to burn but he ignored the pain, pushing himself up and over the annoying obstacle until he was back on the ground, running towards the next dreaded obstacle.

Next up was the Stairway to Hell.
Taking a deep breath, Lucas reached out and grabbed the top rope before stepping out on to the bottom rope. Eyes looking straight ahead Lucas moved as fast as he dared over the rope line; wobbling only twice when the rope seemed to dip a little.

Finally after three minutes; even though it seemed longer, Lucas was off the line, heading towards the trees. He didn't glance to the side to see if Alecia was able to keep up or not; even though he guessed he probably should.

Evan went through stretches, checking on his prosthestics while stretching his left side. Everything seemed to be in order, and while he had gotten the hang of them, they still felt somewhat alien. The doctors had told him that feeling would go away, but as far as he knew they were only guessing, and that he was the first to have replacement body parts.

When the, Brit, if accent was any kind of indicator, issued his challenge, Evan stood up. He was ready to put these fake arms and legs to the real test.

I'm all ready. But maybe I'll keep it easy on you.

late 1410-ish

Seeing Alecia and Lucas exchange 'casual banters' at each other, Jacob and Steve were both among the men anxious to get started on the course. Jacob himself was quite literally shuffling around in his spot, and was about to complain when Steve spoke initially. Jacob moved to the front between those four talking as he saw Lucas take the initiative. ~They're taking too long dangit!!~

Everything seemed to be going way too slowly for this competitive Captain. Clenching fists and deepening his stance, Jacob shot forward after Lucas out of seemingly no where. He'd only be just a few seconds behind as long as he got enough acceleration going. "Snooze ya loose! Ahaha!" Jacob cackled briefly as he shot past the remaining three members at the front and in a rush of wind attempted to catch up to Lucas as quickly as possible.

Sure, he wasn't skilled in Parkour like those two chicks were, but he knew enough of the basics to make his form look good, and hauling aft wasn't a problem for this nearly six foot tall man. Those weren't the only two girls he could be showing off for either. Of course, he wasn't focused on that at the moment, oddly enough. Jacob was very focused and driven, especially when it came to simple competition!

Up over the logs he went with a fair bit of ease. The last one took a good leap. Rocking forward from a surge of momentum, Jacob pushed off the balls of his feet feet and swung just high enough to grab the final log. What height he didn't get, he used strength to meet half way, and he avoided slipping off the last log just by swinging over with odd grace. Leaping feet first into his own roll, Jacob then shot for the two ropes. Taking the set on the left, he wobbled once initially and began to take wide steps across to the other side. Half way across, he decided he wasn't going fast enough and tried a different technique from the one Cira did, swinging around from one hand to the other, pivoting on one heel once the new one was planted. It was far faster than shuffling across, and all though he had to switch grips a lot, it was far more efficient.

Heart pounding, Jacob swerved through the trees, pushing off of some of them as Cira and Sadie had done, also swinging off a random low branch in attempt to catch up to Lucas.

Taking a long roll forward towards the group of trees, Jacob bolted up right and shot straight for Lucas from his 5'oclock position. Nimbly, he leaped up and kicked off a tree in the course of his path. A grin on his face, he was just a second or two from catching up with Lucas.

His gaze flicking through the trees off to the right a bit to the end of the course, Jacob was pretty sure he saw two women running back to the end of the line. Never mind the dirt on his hair and uniform, he was about to get more, and he wasn't even aware any of it was on him anyway. One he got through the barbed wires, Jacob planned to use the big wall to catch up to Lucas completely. Lucas would have quite a driven challenger to deal with in just a few seconds!

Amidst all the chatter, Cira and Sadie were 'racing for their lives', going through the rougher parts of the obstacles beyond the high wall, which hadn't been that hard for the two female ninjas. Already covered in dirt from the barbed wires obstacle, Cira and Sadie climbed up the shorter entrance, still neck to neck. "That rope's mine foo!" Cira leaped just early enough that Sadie had to hold her place on the wood to keep herself from falling into the water!

"Fine then be that way!" Sadie said in a tone that indicated she clearly wasn't horribly offended by Cira's move. She already got the sense that she was very competitive like some of the men here, a lot more so than her by far. Regardless, Sadie was still having fun, and she knew their timing was great so far. "Whee!" Sadie heard Cira giggle as she leaped forward and onto the rope, swinging clear across the first stretch of water.

Moving forward through the air in a semi crouch thanks to the load of momentum she was usually able to acquire with ease, Cira executed an extremely precise landing on the balls of her feet and landed on the water layering the top of it with a splash. She almost felt herself slip but she dove forward into the next stretch of water as instructed, hearing Sadie just about to swoop in from behind her!

Water = NOT FUN! Cira pushed through the water stubbornly, unable to see much. She heard Sadie splash in behind her and heard her surge forward, just barely at her ankles already. She felt a warning tap on her ankle as Sadie swam by with the grace Cira didn't have as a swimmer. Her eyes were burning, she didn't know how the woman was doing it! She decided to make up for the loss on the land and just stay behind her for now.

But then she saw something obvious stick out up ahead. Estimating the distance, Cira kept her eyes closed from this point forward and accelerated forward, kicking fast enough to catch up to Sadie, the water being barely six feet deep here. Pushing ahead, partly with an arm, she extended her arms to check and make sure she wouldn't run into anything and swam through the tunnel, kicking Sadie's head as she went partially on accident. She hated water, she had to get out of here, and she had been lucky to find the darn tunnel!

"SCREW YOU WATER!!" Cira rose up out of the water and jumped/kicked around her legs in an odd shuffle to dry herself off, which Sadie laughed at before she bolted forward across the oh so nice dry land, sneezing as the stink of the water filled her nose. Her heart racing, she had to recollect her breathing pattern a bit forcibly.

Taking a side leap onto the pole, Sadie was actually first on because her twisting leaps actually out did Cira's, forcing Cira to jump onto the top most pole while Sadie shimmied along the bottom one. Swinging down and gripping the lower one, Cira and Sadie shuffled themselves along. Both of them pushed off with their hands. Sadie swung around the end of the thick pole landed softly while Cira on the other hand, being a little farther back, took a long leap forward by swinging upside down off the lower pole into a reverse flip over the rest of the water, making it onto land a little bit past Sadie. "Hah, beat ya there! Home free!"

Sadie grinned, having little time to comment as they shot forward. Cira finished just a foot or so ahead of Sadie due to having shorter legs!!

"Four minutes and twenty seconds for Knight! called the airman stationed at the end of the course with a stop watch. Four minutes and twenty one point eight seconds for Ford!"

Cira smiled inwardly at the timing- she was sure she could have made that in exactly four minutes or even less were it not for the darned water!

(I'm estimating on the time here people, remember, these two women are highly agile due to their skill in Parkour and various martial arts, I figure a lot of the men will be able to fall in this range no problem, but for female standards, I imagine this is pretty dang fast, especially with having to swim through a bit of water, adding in the crawling, etc. The latter can be said for both genders too actually. Let me know if anyone things that end time is TOO short....Jacob and Cira are running like they have only 30 minutes left to live or something xP)

Officer Dominic Evans was keen to go. He watched McCallister take his opponent by surprise and dash off, then stepped up to the mark as said person dashed off too. In the distance he could see Tex and her RIO coming to the end of the course. He glanced over to see who his racing partner would be, oh great he thought. The man who in Dom's eyes had stolen his name "Evans". Even though a name isn't something you could steal, but he was competitive like that. Evans voiced his thoughts,
"Come on! You are half terminator. How am I supposed to beat that!!"

Dominic shared a quick smirk with Evan Robinson. He stretched his arms and legs as he waited for McCallister to get halfway through the course and for the Sergeant to blow the starting whistle. Another pair took up positions behind him. Under his breath Dominic spoke, as he took up an athletic starting position,
"Alright... Lets do this..."

Lucas made his way through the trees, all the while hearing the sound of pounding feet behind him.
While the knowledge that this was just a competition was fresh in his mind, it was hard to not put himself in a survival situation; thinking that the person behind him was the enemy instead of someone he would be serving with.

Spying the barbed wire up ahead, Lucas put on a fresh burst of speed before dropping to the ground, sliding ahead much like a baseball player slides in to home plate.

When he stopped sliding, Lucas found himself on his stomach. Not losing his forward momentum Lucas kept moving forward using his knees and upper arms to push himself along. Staying down, Lucas knew that he was in no danger of hitting the barbed wire overhead but the cold, damp earth underneath him was just a bit chilly.

Keeping his mouth shut and his eyes ahead, Lucas managed to shoot through the barbed wire in less than a full minute. Once out he used his hands to push him forward and upward at the same time so as not to lose his forward momentum.

Up ahead 'The Wall' loomed. Biting his lip Lucas forced himself to move faster.
Reaching the wall, Lucas used his forward momentum to run up the wall just enough that with a small jump at the middle he was able to grab the top of the wall and hoist himself up and over.
Jumping down on the other side, Lucas curled himself up in to a ball as he hit the ground. Hitting the ground Lucas heard something in his side snap before excruciating pain shot through his right side.

Gritting his teeth Lucas forced himself up and onward. Next up was the Rope Swing.
Hoisting himself up, Lucas crawled along until he reached the rope itself; the thick rope scratching his hand a little as he got a good grip on it.

Taking a second, Lucas took a deep breath before jumping, skimming across the water to the island in the middle, however he was off balance because of the pain in his side. For just the briefest of moments Lucas managed to balance on the island before he tipped forward in to the murky water. At least he was supposed to end up in the water; something about swimming through a lake and a tunnel.

Shutting his eyes Lucas swam low and fast; in a straight a line as he could manage. By sheer luck his fingers found the tunnel within 40 seconds, but by then his lungs were burning.

~Come on, just get through the tunnel; you are almost done with this.~ Lucas told himself.
He kept thinking that to himself as he swam through the tunnel. When his head broke the surface on the other side, Lucas took in a deep breath before swimming to the side. Once out Lucas picked up speed once more; forcing himself onward even though his heart was pounding in his chest; begging him to stop.

Just two more obstacles; the poles and the last sprint before the finish line.
Gulping in the air, Lucas reached the poles. Deciding not to jump, Lucas settled on the lower one, shimmying himself along it as fast as he could. His wet hands and legs made gripping difficult, so it took him a little longer than necessary to get across, but once he was, he dropped down and began the final sprint.

Gritting his teeth, Lucas forced himself to speed up. He didn't hear any footsteps behind him and a quick glance up ahead didn't reveal the person he was racing against.
~Don't worry about that; just keep going!~ He told himself while gulping for breath.

Pumping his legs the last few feet Lucas more or less threw himself across the finish line, barely hearing his time.
"Four minutes and seventeen seconds for Cafferey."

That had been the airman Lucas realized as he fell to his knees near the water station that was just a few steps away from the finish line.
Gripping his side, Lucas felt the swelling in his skin right over his ribcage. Whatever he had pulled or hit, it had sure made his skin swell.

Grumbling to himself, Lucas wiped some of the muck out of his hair.
Still breathing hard, Lucas forced himself to his feet before glancing towards the finishing line; wondering who was going to be coming in next.

As Lucas moved through the barbed wire, Jacob was right behind. He was forced to eat some of the dirt Lucas kicked at with his boots, but he didn't care. He was too fired up to lag behind because of some dirt. Grunting a little as he pushed himself along the ground under the wire, he exhaled sharply as he got up from under it and shot forward towards the next obstacle, the wall of doom.

Just barely a couple steps behind and to the side of Cafferey, Jason literally charged up the wall doing a running pass before managing to meet the edge of the wall by launching his arms up, placing them on the edge, and completely flipping himself over it with a cartwheel of sorts before landing on the ground with a thump and another sharp exhale from the harsh landing. He shifted into a roll and charged at the entrance for the rope swing.

Briefly balancing on the edge of the entrance for the rope swing, Jacob didn't stay there long because his balance wasn't as good as some, and he immediately took a long leap for the rope. Unfortunately, he just barely missed the island and fell waste deep into murky, muddy water because Cafferey was in the way. He growled irritably and placed his hands on the slick, islands, doing a 'Kong' vault, a double handed vault over the island to get himself over it. Instead of moving his feet over the cement underneath, he kicked off of it and pushed himself as far as he could straight into the murky, muddy man-made lake. He followed the sound of Cafferey's kicks and moved straight for the tunnel with his eyes closed, his legs and sides burning by this point. He knew the burn was normal though, and he almost welcomed it since he was in a heated competition!

He felt disgusting by the time he rose out of the tunnel, but was glad to get out of the water, panting a bit, he he shook himself off and moved for the final obstacle course. Leaping up to the metal poles, he wrapped his leg around the upper pole and shimmied across right behind Cafferey with no room to move ahead. Letting swinging around the pole and onto the rough terrain. Almost as nimbly as the girls, he moved along the slopes of the terrain where he could rather than going straight up top, stubbornly trying to keep his speed despite the wet clothing, and he crossed the finish line just a second after Cafferey.

"Four minutes and twenty-one seconds for -- Jacob McCallister!" the airman said, trying to remember which McCallister this was!

Panting, he launched his arms forward and rolled to a stop a bit ahead of Cafferey before turning back towards the path that would lead them to the group. "Wow! Haven't had a rush like that in a while. Are you all right Colonel Cafferey?" he asked before taking a few steps forward, catching his breath.

Lucas turned to face Jacob.
While the pain in his side was sharp, to Lucas it was more of an annoyance than a problem; it certainly wouldn't stop him for long.

"Yes I am fine. Think I cracked a rib during the landing off of The Wall. It's nothing major; just some pain and swelling; I'll wrap it later." Lucas said as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.

He certainly had had cracked ribs before and this wasn't the most painful rib crack or fracture he had had before.
"Good job." Lucas continued, holding a hand out for Jacob to shake.

Jacob stopped to turn and shake Lucas's hand firmly. "Thank you." he replied between breaths. Walking forward, he stretched his arms outwards and then back, hearing his back pop. "One second behind isn't too bad. Nothing like a good challenge to make your lungs and muscles burn..." he panted a little, trying to steady his breaths as he walked. "I love me some good competition, down to a simple arm wrestle." Jacob smiled widely before continuing the path towards the rest of the group, in no hurry to get there now.
