Fiona Maccafferty woke up at 0530. It was her habit-the only amount of time in the whole day she got JUST to herself. She'd been forced to mature super fast, not just as an adult, but even as a child. Her father had relied on her to be the housekeeper, cook, and bookkeeper, all before she was seven years old. She'd not had much of a traditional childhood ANYWAY, and so following her assault and the aftermath with Max, she'd also not had much of a young-woman-hood. She'd started college early, at 16 1/2, and had finished at 21 with a PhD, and went straight to work for the Feds. So her half-hour of silence in the morning was the only time she got be totally reckless if she wanted. Though even for Fee, "reckless" was mostly just eating ALL the shortbread and not sharing with anyone. She poured her coffee and sat in the silence. Sometimes she DID stuff, but sometimes she didn't. Today, she sat for a few minutes, just enjoying the hot amber liquid. Coffee was a gift from the Gods, for sure! 

Soon, she heard stirring. One of her housemates-son or roommate-was awake. She sighed. She should seriously consider making it an ACTUAL rule that no one gets out of bed before 6. But she stood up, and padded to the kitchen. Might as well start getting ready for the day. Which meant she spent fifteen minutes actually waking people up. She hated her charge of Blue-not Blue HERSELF, mind you, just being in charge of someone who was grown properly. Though Fee supposed she WASN'T, actually, and that was why they were here, ater all. While HER coding project really HAD been a mistake-she hadn't MEANT to hack into the Secret Services' databases-Blue's WASN'T. Fiona had managed to get her friend a lighter sentence, but really. THat did NOT mean that Fee had intended to look after her like a second child. Oh, well. She started for Max's room-he was easier to deal with than Blue this early in the morning.

Blueberry awoke, sat up in bed and rubbed her left eye precisely once (as was protocol) before looking up at the clock hanging above her bedroom door. 5.45AM. She had awoken 15 minutes earlier than the schedule that Maccafferty-san had assigned her. She pondered for a moment on the likelihood of this having any effect on the effectiveness on her nights sleep before dismissing it. She did not currently believe Maccafferty-san to be of a high enough intellect to pass proper judgement off her sleeping routine. With that decided Blueberry slipped herself out of bed and picked up her tablet. Blueberry had tried several ways of "expanding her financial opportunities online without the distraction of actual people". For the most part she'd been successful however she'd only intended it as an experiment. She derived no joy from the concepts and had quickly lost interest.

Blueberry took herself into the kitchen. Seeing Maccafferty-san nowhere to be found, Blueberry proceeded to put a saucepan of milk on the stove to boil. Mataku, what was the red child thinking. Blueberry's sleep routine was fine, it was hers she needed to look at. Sugar, cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg went into the pan before she filled three cups and set them at the table. All that was left was to sit with her own cup and wait for Maccafferty-san to bring the other child.

Fee poked at Max until he woke up. She smiled.

Get up for school. Aunty Blue has warmed milk for you. Fee could smell it. She didn't drink it, but Max did. Fee didn't like milk, and in fact, it hurt her stomach. She was going to make oatmeal for breakfast. Yes, she knew that they ate it every morning just about, and no she didn't care. She was Irish, and they were pinhead oats. It was tradition, and anyway, they could all agree on them. Put on something nice, you've got photos today. It was school picture day for Max.

Fee left him to dress, and went to the kitchen. She saw Blue.

Good morning. You're up early, did oyu not sleep well? Fee looked concerned.
