Episode Four - The Cult of Lillith

Almeda stood there she had just realized that she didn't seem to share a language with these people. She know that languages could easily change over time but forgot to check before exiting her stasis pod. She stood still hoping they wouldn't notice her much more then they already had, as she accessed several of the devices they had upon them for relevant information. She first started with a few word searched hoping to find a translator to help her out. 'good I found it' she thought to herself upon downloading the Ancient to English files and quickly began to. 'Good I have several of the key words now' she thought as she downloaded several files she thought might be important as she continued through a few more files but noticed noticed a single device that had security quite higher then any other device the others had. All she could obtain from it was a few pictures which she downloaded out of curiosity of what the people in them where wearing.

She glanced over at the people who where standing there watching her, examining her. This caused her to become a bit embarrassed it had been quite a while since people had payed her. She then suddenly turned around facing then "Oh um sorry for the wait I wasn't designed to be in stasis for such a long period of time. its quite embarrassing to be honest." She said face still red from embarrassment. "Oh right proper to introduce myself I'm prototype 0001 project Almeda, you can call me Almeda, How can I be of help" she says with a joyful smile on her face.

"Stop!" Black almost order in a yell. "Don't get any closer." Tom glanced over at the man and planted his feet before quickly attaching the P90 back onto his webbing before pulling the TER free, he aimed the energy weapon at the replicator or otherwise extremely advanced robot. Doctor black was still clearly looking at it as the machine stared at the opposite wall, it appeared to have just left the stasis pod behind it. The things 'skin' seemed to move and change into clothing.

Black stepped forwards and Chambers' quickly move himself forward as well. "Perhaps it doesn't work?" Well that was a distinct possibility... It could also be only partially working. "I mean, what if there is no hive mind to connect to in the Triangulum Galaxy, so, no commands... Nothing to make the arms and legs move? It's just... Stood there. Maybe we could do something wi-"
it moved and looked at Black, Tom made sure the TER was pointed at he guessed was its centre of mass. "Or... Perhaps not..." The doctor finished.

Then from behind someone else another voice piped up. "What is it?" Well her guess was probably better than his, but blacks comments from before made it seem like he thought it was one of those replicators. The machine kept still looking at Dr Black seemingly frightened still. "Maybe its a commander unit or otherwise independent..." Tom said still aiming at it.

A few more moments passed before it turned fully. Tom was sure someone was going to complain if he shot it now and if he didn't it might be able to kill them all, if he came closer he resolved he would do everything he could to make it as non functioning as possible.

"Oh um sorry for the wait I wasn't designed to be in stasis for such a long period of time. its quite embarrassing to be honest." It spoke... it spoke ENGLISH! Tom's brain screamed at itself. It then added to its introduction with a joyful smile. "Oh right proper to introduce myself I'm prototype 0001 project Almeda, you can call me Almeda, How can I be of help"
Well first off don't move or kill us might be a good start he thought to himself.

"You can start by staying there..." Tom tried vaguely ordering the machine. "Who built you? And are you a replicator?" Tom asked forcefully still holding the TER steady at about the centre of its chest.

Only moments ago, Glavish had watched as Chambers stepped into the teleporter and disappeared in a flash of light.  He half-expected one of the other soldiers to quickly follow-suit.  However, when it didn't happen, he turned his attention back to his tablet and connected to the Jumper's computer via his own G-Net.  He managed to overhear the chatter between Black and Hurley as the Warrant Officer established a link between the Jumper and Lilith's computers.  He piggy-backed on the signal and was able to decrypt a few of the files once they were on the Jumper's server.  After seeing something that captured his attention, Glavish quickly slipped onto the teleporter.   He could see one of the marines moving towards him, mouthing some sort of protest before he was gone, and the interior of Lilith's lab took shape in front of him.

Glavish stepped off the pad and quickly began to look about the room.  He continued to survey the lab until his gaze fell on Chambers with his weapon trained on what appeared to be a woman.  Glavish wasn't naive enough to believe it was an actual woman, however.  Still, these soldier's insistance to shoot first and ask questions later was truly becoming annoying.

"Oh um sorry for the wait I wasn't designed to be in stasis for such a long period of time. its quite embarrassing to be honest. Oh right proper to introduce myself I'm prototype 0001 project Almeda, you can call me Almeda, How can I be of help?"

"Almeda, what is your primary objective," said Glavish as he turned his attention to the tablet as he moved forward.  He tapped at his tablet a few times as he moved towards Black.  He then looked over at Chambers and simply sighed.  He waited for 'Almeda' to reply to his query, hoping that it would say something to convince Chambers and the other soldiers that she wasn't an imminent threat.  Of course, if she were... well... hopefully, they could disable her without causing any extensive damage to the lab.

With his partner in recovery form and himself putting the majority of his processing into recovery there was much Cyleo could do to stop the foreign intruder accessing his wireless communications systems. He could however shut them down completely. [Foreign wireless access attempted. Wireless communications locked down.].

It was then that Aear sent the mental command to kill the nanites spilled. Not really Cyleo's system but he had to protect his partner after all. [Administrator Command: Kill external nanites.] The order was sent and every spot of Aear's blood not in himself set itself ablaze. Nanites destroyed and genetics secured. Though Aear didn't realise he was laying in Fee's backpack or how odd Cyleo's chiming computer voice would sound coming out of it.

Almeda waited eagerly for their response it had been to long since she had interacted with others. "You can start by staying there..." one of them says, this surprised her a bit for she didn't expect them to respond in such a way to her. Maybe she had said something wrong, or did something that was offensive. "Who built you? And are you a replicator?" he added with a bit more force. 'replicator I wonder what that is' she thought to herself as she ran the word throw the translator till she found the appropriate translation. "OH! Lilith built me, she is the creator of many things" she says with smiling at them all. "and sorry I'm not a Replicator I'm prototype 0001 Almeda, though I did help create the Replicators at Atlantis" she added answering his question. She then started a standard scan of Meropis' systems to make sure everything was operating as it should. She noticed that its cloaking system was down leaving Meropis exposed and vulnerable. "W-why are is the cloaking system deactivated" she asked worried she would like the answer they might give. "Almeda, what is your primary objective," another one of them said. "Oh right now its to maintain Meropis" she replied to him hoping that would help answer his question.

Puddle Jumper “Oracle Three”

Hurley watched from the video feeds of Able and Baker Teams as the human-form replicator powered up and emerged from her status chamber. She was defiantly human in appearance, a young woman of Asian appearance. She took a moment to ‘wake up’, and spotted the expedition teams standing before her. Much to Michael’s surprise, rather than kill everyone in sight, she politely introduced herself.

With weapons at the ready, the teams began to question her, with Corporal Chambers and Doctor Glavish asking who she was and what her purpose was. She identified herself as Almeda, and explained that while she had been made by the Ancients, she wasn’t a Replicator. Her voice was uncertain and childlike, and not at what Hurley understood a Replicator to sound like.

The CWO opened a new up a new search and feed the name ‘Almeda’ into the Ancient database. Within seconds he was recorded with a wealth of information regarding the androids construction, testing and evaluation. He opened a link to the laptops and tablet computers of the two teams below and began streaming the information down to them. “Intel packets are on your screens,” he explained over the radio net.

When Almeda mentioned that she had been created by Lilith, Hurley added her name to the search and began to skim the documents which came up on his screen. “She looks to have been part of a ‘family’ of androids built by Lilith,” he added over the radio as he scrolled down the file. “She was decommissioned and put on ice after she was deemed to be too emotional and unstable.”

The android made a comment about the cloaking shield of Meropis, suggesting that she was still connected remotely to the City-ship. “She’s still linked into the city, I’ll see if we can jam her,” Michael added. He tapped the co-pilot of the Jumper on the shoulder and asked her to run a broad-spectrum jamming protocol. It would be interesting to see how Almeda reacted.

It had been an interesting day, and now they were face to face with a prototype replicator.

"OH! Lilith built me, she is the creator of many things and sorry I'm not a Replicator. I'm prototype 0001 Almeda; though I did help create the Replicators at Atlantis. W-why are is the cloaking system deactivated. Oh, right now, its to maintain Meropis"

Chief Warrant Officer Hurley had been very useful and got them some intelligence.

"Intel packets are on your screens, She looks to have been part of a ‘family’ of androids built by Lilith."

"Copy that Oracle Three."

Captain Jones looked at the replicator and activated his shield, before speaking to her.

"How is it that you are supposed to maintain Meropis."

Fee was confused. She didn't understand what was going on. She didn't recognize these words-"replicator", "Lilith," and "Almeda" meant NOTHING to her. She eyeballed her knapsack, as it went off with some sort of strange noise. Bloody hell, it was haunted or somesuch. Quickly, she grabbed her bag, dove behind Chambers, and looked inside the bag. The cat was stirring in its sleep but there was something in there making noise. Maybe her cell?? How the hell did it get reception out here, though? Without a second thought to it, she tuned back into the conversation.

W-why are is the cloaking system deactivated Fee leaned into the Marine she stood behind.

I disabled it. Dr. Black asked me to.[/i] The man spoke up.

How is it that you are supposed to maintain Meropis. Fee leaned again.

I think she has a linker core...she's what's making the comms run. I've seen this before; an AI who runs the electric. She had seen it in protoypes, though.

Chiyako awoke rather slowly and looked around. Some dark tunnel? She sat bolt upright suddenly remembering what she was doing only to find her leg trapped under rubble.Kuso! Chiyako spat angrily. Kurosawa! [Yes Boss. Set up.] The metal card turned back into it's spear form in a flash. Chiyako shoved her spear into the rubble and levered the rubble off her. She dragged her foot out of the rubble and carefully tried to put some weight on it before doubling over from the pain. [No break detected. I will administer pain killers.] Chiyako nodded and pushed the tip of her spear slowly into her leg, it didn't cut instead it worked more like a needle.

Once finished she pulled it out and attempted to take a stance. The dull pain was still there but it was bearable for now. Chiyako took her stance, she was finishing her mission and capturing her prey. She already knew he was on the other side of all this rubble and she was going to take both out with one move. She aimed her spear at the rubble much like a staff forming a magic circle and aiming ring at the tip charging a ball of orange energy. Nightmare... BUSTER! The orange beam shot out of the magic circle drilling through the rubble with great ease, it would take a while but she'd have her prey soon enough.

Michael had been studying the android, replicator... Thing. He was curious, at the same time he'd begun to scroll through some of the more prominent data displayed on his PDA. This would take a lot of going through back in the city, and he wasn't able to translate ancient as fast as the likes of Dr. Jackson, but certain bits and pieces stood out on the screen. It spoke to them,
"Oh, um sorry for the wait, I wasn't designed to be in stasis for such a long period of time. its quite embarrassing to be honest. Oh, right proper to introduce myself I'm prototype 0001 project Almeda, you can call me Almeda, How can I be of help
?" Michael's eyebrows were raised, he tried to suppress an outcry of surprise, it must have scanned their language, 'right proper' was something Dr. Black himself had said on a number of occasions around the city, and been mocked for it of course, how very British of him.

"You can start by staying there... Who built you? And are you a replicator?"
Came the immediate reply from Chambers, who had his TER raised now Black noticed. He scoffed to himself, would these military people really bring an anti replicator gun on every mission? He wished he hadn't said anything about what could or couldn't be inside the lab and instead had told them all it was a lab possibly filled with hundreds of boxes of guns and ammo. Almeda addressed the humans gathered around her,
"Oh! Lilith built me, she is the creator of many things and sorry I'm not a Replicator I'm prototype 0001 Almeda, though I did help create the Replicators at Atlantis." She paused, a blank expression briefly crossing her face.

“Intel packets are on your screens,” Hurley's voice sounded over the radio link via the earpiece Black was wearing, "She looks to have been part of a ‘family’ of androids built by Lilith, She was decommissioned and put on ice after she was deemed to be too emotional and unstable.”
Hurley had run some of the data through their beta ancient translation program, but Black knew the program often missed out vital parts...

A small electronic like voice pipped inside Maccafferty's bag, where the cat had been placed. She grabbed the bag and rushed to the corner behind Chambers to frantically search it. Black looked from Almeda to Maccafferty and back again, his eyes narrowed in suspicion. Almeda came back to life,
"W-why are is the cloaking system deactivated?" She asked. Fiona answered from the depths of her bag, trying valiantly not to disturb the sleeping cat,
"I disabled it. Dr. Black asked me to." She said to Almeda, then she turned back to the team, "I think she has a linker core... She's what's making the comms run. I've seen this before; an AI who runs the electric."
“She’s still linked into the city, I’ll see if we can jam her,”  Said Hurley from Oracle Three.

"Almeda, what is your primary objective," came a familiar voice in an attempt to distract her from the last radio transmission. Black looked up to see that Glavish was next through, followed closely behind by Captain Jones. Black tapped some more commands into his PDA then jolted his hand back in surprise. He noticed that it was now scrolling by itself. Searching through the database, it brought up a page of ancient text that filled the screen. Black frowned at it, then looked up at Almeda who flashed him a short smile. She had accessed the device for him! He set about trying to translate the text as quickly as he could, what was it that this machine had wanted him to read. Whilst he read, Almeda replied to Glavish,
"Oh, right now its to maintain Meropis." Black flicked through the data as fast as he could, skimming it and translating the obvious section.

The rest of Team Able had now filtered through the transporter to join them in the lab. The mission leader, Captain Jones asked,
"How is it that you are supposed to maintain Meropis?" Bingo! Black had found what he was looking for. He spoke up,
"Almeda means 'ambition' in Ancient. It seems as if this... Lady, we'll go with Lady, was built way before the replicators. As Hurley mentioned, others like her were built but it looks as if something broke out between Lillith and the other ancients... These notes are from Lillith herself!" He felt the burning eyes of others on him now as he continued to explain, "Lillith hid Almeda here and kept the location of this lab secret. Meanwhile, the others destroyed Almeda's younger brethren. This looks like it was about the same kind of time as the replicator war in the Pegasus Galaxy." Frowning at his PDA he scrolled down some more, "Oh... My ancient isn't brilliant but it looks as though Almeda is designed to repair damaged sections of Meropis and... Create? No not create... She cannot self-replicate and... Too emotional?" He paused to look up at Almeda, "Prone to tantrums, locking herself away in air ducts and refusing simple commands if not given appropriate recompense for her time... It also says here that she has automated fail safes. Should she either leave this planet or attack anybody with a certain DNA structure she will be forced to self-deactivate and disassemble her nanites... It looks like we're safe from her but I'm sorry I can't read anymore it's all jumbled up-"

Black was rudely interrupted. A blast from the within the ruined corridor linking the two sections shook the lab. Dust fell from the ceiling above them as they all turned to face the bulkhead door. Another impact on the back of the door. Suddenly, it burst open, Black barely had enough time to dive out of the way, dropping his PDA in the process. He covered his eyes and crawled backwards as the room was suddenly filled with a raucous noise.

Aear awoke from within Fee's bag and popped his small feline head up, there was mana moving on the air, a lot of mana. [Warning. Class AAA cone shape bombardment spell incoming.] Well so much for his well earned nap then. Aear hopped right out of Fee's bag and dashed over to the door. [Full Drive] With a flash Aear was back to being a 'real boy'. He pulled out a Linker Core and converted the whole thing into mana. Core Purge. He placed his hand in front of him and cast a powerful barrier shielding everyone else in the room from the blast. He's ears flicked as he heard the familiar sound of mana cartridges being loaded into a device. Moments later Chiyako slammed spear first into his shield.

Aear was done with this. He pulled out another Linker Core with his free hand much to Chiyako's surprise. In effect he was using his stolen Linker Cores like the mana cartridge which already propelled a mage's power into explosive levels. Chiyako lept back her spear still trained on him. She was going to have to be very careful if he was going to be throwing around spells pushing the SSS boundary.

The morning was looking up even if he was confronted by a replicator woman, he'd escaped Glavish, or so he thought, it wasn't long before that changed, the petulant child of a scientist was back. 'just great, wonder if anyone would stop me shoving him through a wall?' Tom thought as the man asked the machine a question."Almeda, what is your primary objective," He didn't ask a silly question or berate it, interesting...

The machine then began to respond to everyone questions. "OH! Lilith built me, she is the creator of many things" It said with a smile before continuing. "and sorry I'm not a Replicator I'm prototype 0001 Almeda, though I did help create the Replicators at Atlantis"

"W-why are is the cloaking system deactivated" she asked worried she would like the answer they might give. It then answered Glavish "Oh right now its to maintain Meropis"But quickly there was a response to the cloaking question from the redhead after Hurley sent them a some Intel, not that he had anyway of accessing it, he was brought on this mission as muscle and a gun, nothing more really, and perhaps this gene the people said he had and he was related to ancients, a interesting prospect for the Lance Corporal.

"I disabled it. Dr. Black asked me to." The short redhead said with her weirdish accent leaning into him from behind, now he was a meat shield, not the first time that had happened mind you.

It was then Captain Snake head Jones came into the fray, raising his shield. "How is it that you are supposed to maintain Meropis." A good question, be he guessed it was connected to the city some how.

"I think she has a linker core...she's What's making the comms run. I've seen this before; an AI who runs the electric." Well that was quite complicated to complicated for the combat engineer but it seemed it had something to do with the city's power at least. 

Tom continued aiming at the woman, lets just hope it is nice and friendly or he was sure he wouldn't he the end of it and end up in some very obscure jail cell for murdering Doctor Glavish for being a general not a very nice person, putting it nicely.

It was during this pause it seemed Doctor Black, someone who's head wasn't so far up his own ass the bump in his neck was his nose.

"Almeda means 'ambition' in Ancient. It seems as if this... Lady, we'll go with Lady, was built way before the replicators. As Hurley mentioned, others like her were built but it looks as if something broke out between Lillith and the other ancients... These notes are from Lillith herself!"

That sure as hell sounded important after the briefing he'd been through after all this lilith seemed to be the ancient equivalent of perhaps Nikolai Tesla, maybe a little whakey for her time but a genius for sure.

This looks like it was about the same kind of time as the replicator war in the Pegasus Galaxy." That surely worried Tom, at that time it seemd the ancients weren't having to much luck with AIs and in particular those that could self replicate. "Oh... My ancient isn't brilliant but it looks as though Almeda is designed to repair damaged sections of Meropis and... Create? No not create... She cannot self-replicate and... Too emotional?"

Okay the end of that ended far more confused than it started out it seemed Black was translating directly and on the spot, though he was going far better than most he expected.

"Prone to tantrums, locking herself away in air ducts and refusing simple commands if not given appropriate recompense for her time... It also says here that she has automated fail safes. Should she either leave this planet or attack anybody with a certain DNA structure she will be forced to self-deactivate and disassemble her nanites... It looks like we're safe from her but I'm sorry I can't read anymore it's all jumbled up-" Well he tried and found something interesting.

"That DNA combination wouldn't be..." The Lab shook, Okay either that was someone trying to get in using something quite powerful or a powerful earthquake, it happened again, everyone turned to a bulkhead. Holding the TER one Handed he Pushed the redhead backwards behind him perhaps a little hard but people were only so good at stopping projectiles distance often helped,. The bulkhead door burst open and soon there was some cat like man holding some sort of shield up to someone so familiar it was certainly bad news.

The Lance Corporal got off his semi knocked down state onto one knee and getting the TER onto target, if it had one main advantage over is other weapons it was an energy weapon and one able to protect things 180 degrees out of phase with their visual perception back into it,now all he had to do was get a clear shot but with the battle between unknown saviour cat man and evil woman from before it was hard, but he found an opening and fired a shot at Chiyako before carefully aiming another around their movements and letting off another.

Glavish focused his attention initially on Almeda as 'she' explained her primary objectives which appeared to be maintaining Meropis.  Shortly after, when she inquired about the clocking device being deactivated, it was obvious that she was in contact with the systems back at the city.  It seemed that Lilith had made extensive preparations to preserve things here.  Of course, now the question had to be why?

His thoughts were interrupted by Black as he began to speak aloud, however, it seemed the man actually had some valuable intel to share.  Glavish listened as he outlined more information about Almeda regarding her purpose, as well as her faults.  "A toaster with a temper tantrum," Glavish mouthed to himself.  "I suppose we'll have to put her on salary as well to keep her satisfied."  His musings had been mostly to himself, though he didn't care who overheard. Still, there were distinct limitations on Almeda which were clearly tied to her primary objective of preserving Meropis.  It seemed that she couldn't leave the planet, and she certainly wasn't able to harm or injure those with specific genetic coding.  Most likely those with the ATA gene.

And naturally, that's about the time things seemed to go to hell.  There seemed to be an explosion which led to the return of the assassin woman from the before.  Glavish was sure this was just the sort of smackdown rematch that Jones had been hoping for.  Chambers had certainly been keen to fire his weapon at the first opportunity as well.  Glavish moved for cover, but had noticed the shield that had protected them earlier, which came from... and where had this lad come from?  He had been in the vicinity of the feline creature.  Did he undergo some sort of metamorphosis all of a sudden?

So many variables, and all of them seemingly combustible in these close quarters (which didn't bode well for anyone.)  "I'd like to recommend a strategic retreat," he said as he found himself near Black.  He hated putting so much of Lilith's work in jeopardy, but truth be told, if they were dead then Lilith's information was useless.

Yeah, Fee was ready was to get the hell out of here, wherever "here" was. She was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people, of both genders, about her. Her safety "triggers" had been pulled and she was on the brink of an epic meltdown. Hiding behind the Marines was only a placeholder safety device-she wouldn't feel calm again until at least sitting in the puddle jumper, preferably with HER things around her. Even better would be her quarters, but she wouldn't push her luck just yet.

She was rummaging in her bag-just to distract from her discovery that Socks-the name she'd given Aear for now-had woken and escaped the safe confines of her knapsack. Shoot. She was going to be in even bigger trouble than she surely already was-taking the cat was probably HIGH on the list of "stuff not to do whilst on duty." Actually, she knew the entire rule book by memory, and she knew that there was no such rule, however, she would bet big money that no one back at Command would be pleased as punch anyway. She inched out from behind Chambers, and made her way towards Aear while the military blokes attempted to soothe the strange new alien. She had almost gotten the cat in her grip when a *BOOM* shook the lab. Without thinking, she dropped to the ground, as she'd been taught in case of earthquake (because the Big One most CERTAINLY would strike the Rosemeade School for Girls in Kerry. Riiiggghht.). It passed instantly, and she retrieved Socks once more, speaking as low as was possible, considering she was Irish and heavily accented.

You bloody pisser, back to the bag for you. She carefully tucked him into her chest, wrapping a pale arm around him gently. She looked around-no one seemed to notice. Fee didn't notice the new arrival, but seemed unaffected-it hadn't yet dawned on her that she possessed the ATA gene, and that was what was keeping her alive. She replaced the cat into her bag, zipped it until only his kitty face was visible, and strapped it to her. He wouldn't escape this time. She returned to her safe spot in the corner, and listened carefully. Finally, one of the eejits with a gun spoke sense.

I'd like to recommend a strategic retreat... She was on board with THAT. She waited for Black to give a command, and then fell in behind the group.

Chiyako watched Aear carefully for a moment. He'd already used one Linker Core like a cartridge, where he was getting them from she had no idea, you didn't just keep spare magical organs lying around. Not only could he lierally turn into a cat but he was far more powerful then her clients had let on. How exactly was she supposed to kill him now? Much less bring the spoilt prince back alive. She really hated bad intel.

Her thoughts were interrupted however by one of the idiots from earlier firing some sort of energy bullet at her. Yeah right. [Load cartridge. Flash Move.] The computerised voice of her spear rang out as it revealed a hidden compartment for ejecting what would most likely look to the humans as some sort of ballistic round, most likely shotgun shells. Chiyako moved nearly instantly, the spell increasing her reaction time by making things look as if they were in slow motion, and also boosting her physical speed. She swung her spear sideways at Aear but he simply moved the shield as Tom fired off another round at Chiyako. She tried to use the same spell again but it cancelled mid-cast. AMF? Chiyako barely had time to put up a shield but it simply wasn't enough as Tom's second round ploughed straight through it shattering the shield and sending Chiyako flying.

Ending up slumped against the wall. Her Barrier Jacket had prevented it being a lethal shot, however her ches wast badly burnt and she was unlikely to survive if she was left here. Chiyako weakly stared up at her pray as he collapsed and returned to his cat form just before Fee grabbed him. Thanks little lady. Too bad Aear couldn't talk in this form, not that he realised Fee could hear him. And with that Aear pulled his head back into the bag and curled up to sleep. Hopefully they'd only sent one crazy bounty hunter after him.
