Cafferey and McCallister had made their times, Tex and Sadie had made theirs too. It was Evans versus Robinson, game on. The whistle blew and both men started out. Dominic didn't keep track of Evan Robinson, but just kept powering on, a smile forming on his face as he relished the competition.
The logs were up first. This was standard marine training equipment, and everyone had their own way to get over it. Dominic knew he would be expected to get over it fast no matter what method he used. To this end he ran and jumped on to the first log, balancing and pausing on one foot before throwing himself at the second where he would pull himself up to a crouch to spring toward the next log. On the final log he would roll off fluidly and land on his feet facing the logs, before spinning 180 and sprinting to the next task.
He caught a glimpse of Evan at his side but powered on. The high rise was next. Dominic made his way through it as simply and quickly as possible. Jumping up he grabbed the second log and hoisted himself up, it was a combination of jumping and upper body strength that was key. He would grab the next one, hoist himself up, jump a little and grab the next one. It was when he carefully slid over the top one and stood at a great height looking down where he had a brief moment of panic. He had considered sliding down the side but that would surely end badly. Instead he went for a windy sliding technique, lowering himself onto the next log then sliding down around it to the next in a figure of eight fashion. When he reached the third one from the floor he went for, a jump into a safety roll before using the momentum to sprint off to the next one.
A lot of people would carefully shimmy their way across this pond, as was the norm, but SGC personnel were allowed to be slightly creative with their assault course. Dominic ran up to his rope and leaped magnificently to cover what distance he could, he grabbed the top rope and hung there holding his feet over the water. He was impressed, quarter of the way! Dominic caught Evan in the corner of his eye on the other rope, damn this was close, he was using up all his breath and exhausting himself, pushing himself to the limit and this guy was just breezing through! Dominic swung himself up to wrap his legs around the rope than pulled himself along as fast as he could, getting to the end he dropped his legs first then swung onto the soil on the other side.
Sweat dripping from his forehead he caught his breath, the drill instructor stationed at this section yelled at him to move faster, so he did, and sprinted on to the next obstacle aware of eyes watching him, he kept pushing onward.
<Tag Evan Robinson and whoever else wants a go>
