Ep. 5 - The Enemy Within - Glavish/Black/Hopper

After Fee had the lights on, she returned to Black's side, and pulled Aear with her.

“My name is Dorane. It has been... So long...I was hoping my people would- Creatures? Fee hid a little behind Aear. She was afraid. She sat next to Dr. Black, cowering. Men. NEXT time they find a random hologram, couldn't it be female?!

The Koan...I had hoped they were dead, after all this time. I see you’ve erected the blast doors, we should be safe in here from them for the time being... The Koan were a nocturnal species, they don’t venture out in the daytime – but that was when they first came here. I thought their species would have died off by now. Fee nodded, peeking out from behind Aear. The blast doors were operated by codes these days, but she wasn't going to give them up. Hmm...You there. Give me your scanner as well please. The strange man approached, and she scooted closer to Aear. He appeared interested in Michael, but Fee wasn't certain. It is as I suspected. Your friend here clearly has an affinity with Alteran technology. It is possible that he can feel it yes, but why? That I do not know. Perhaps it would be best to keep him away from any of the devices you may have on you. She looked at Aear, and then at Elly, confused. Devices?!

But if Dr. Black can feel it, and I can work the doors and things...why can't I feel it, or Aear, here? He's a cat, but an alien, nonetheless. She looked up at Aear. It didn't make sense to her logical brain. At least Dr. Black seemed a little eased now.

Come, come. This way! The Koan are an alien species. Barely sentient, but clever, and they can be vicious. They were brought here from their world by the Etruscans, to infiltrate our defences from underground. I thought they would have died out, the last few times I went to explore I found no sign of them. Elly responded, and Fee just hid some more.

Yeah... about that... we might have had a battle here and in space around this planet when the first group came to Meropis, they know where it is again... maybe they brought more or awakened some from stasis or something like that then? The lights, Elly! They hated the lights, that's why they stayed away. Might explain the missing team; they'd been eaten alive by these creatures before the lights were installed. Dorane went on. Why did he have a Celtic name?! In Celtic, it meant "exile." Great.

This is my communications array...Oh my. I see you’ve been busy here. This certainly bodes well Fee nodded, and edged out from behind her hiding spot behind Aear and Black.

'Tis MY communications array you see there, on the screen... Elly confirmed thier work.

General city statistics and stuff... but I can't keep up, also the base number conversions aren't making it any easier. Fee nodded.

Aye, keeps us busy. Elly 'ere does the translations, then I enter the data, and the rest of the science team does the...science parts. We're meant to get power up. It's out base-wide, and I'd rather be dog-wide of the Koane...or whatever they are. She nodded once. Maybe this exiled...being...would help.

This new alien, Dorane or whatever he called himself. He was explaining the species, the Koan but... Something just felt wrong to Michael. He felt uneasy, and when saw the ZPMs it had gotten worse. Three of them? That was an absurd amount of power for one control panel. The module that was plugged in to the terminals seemed to hum and sing delightfully to him, but the other two that seemed to have reached maximum entropy they - well, they almost felt abused. Like a person who'd lived a life of slavery and punishment only to be stricken down by disease. Why was he feeling these things!? Black clutched his forehead again, fighting back a wave of pain and unease.

"This is my communications array...Oh my. I see you’ve been busy here." Dorane said. 
"'Tis MY communications array you see there, on the screen..." Fiona immediately replied.

"Aye, keeps us busy. Elly 'ere does the translations, then I enter the data, and the rest of the science team does the... science parts. We're meant to get power up. It's out base-wide, and I'd rather be dog-wide of the Koane...or whatever they are." Maccafferty was talking to the ancient man. Something about HIM wasn't right though. He tried to alert the others through gritted teeth and pain,
"He's lying. Fee you're light but he's... Dark like... I can't explain it - ARGH!" Black was cut short by a wave of agony down his spine, on his scalp and in his fingers. He bent over double before slumping to the floor. His hands felt like the very bones within them were being stretched out beyond the skin. He reached up to touch his hair and felt shocked, well that explained the pain. Black's hair was thick all of a sudden and almost plastic to the touch. It was clumped up. He winced as he pulled out a thread and inspected it. It had gone silvery and mottled. Just like the Koan. He began to wonder if the Koan had feelers rather than hair, and maybe that was why he could now feel THEM.

Looking slowly up at the others he muttered,
"What... What is happening to me?" Before looking away again. The computer screens along the wall were too bright for him, they hurt his eyes not unlike what happened when one suffered from a migraine. His leg was healing, slowly, but it still felt painful from the creature's attack. His stomach was doing flips and he felt like his skeleton had been plunged in liquid fire. This simply wasn't right.
"I'm changing aren't I?" He said with a look of wild fear, gazing straight into Maccafferty first, then at Glavish before resting his eyes on the back of Dorane's head. Dorane didn't even seem to notice or care. He was tapping away at one of the console, bringing up all sorts of statistics around the city. Black squinted, he was interfering with the power flow around the city! This HAD to be why the lights went out and the doors came down.
"Stop him." Black snarled. It came out as almost a growl, he was loosing control of his voice as well, great.

Aear was quiet, probably something that was annoying Fee. Honestly, he had no clue what was going on. Almeda was doing... Something. Until of course some old guy decided to pop out of stasis, to which Almeda clearly decided she'd had enough of the Tau'ri and placed herself in the pod. There was a discussion of sorts and he led them off into his own little cavern. Aear held Fee's hand when she grabbed him, smiling a little to himself. Whilst he wasn't going to admit it just yet she was a friend and that meant a lot to Aear right now.

It was, apparently, a communications station and from what he could tell from a tertiary glance it was accurate. He wasn't exactly sure of Tau'ri technology but it seemed accurate. Aear's thoughts on the different techs he'd encountered since coming to Meropis by Black's snarl. Aear turned, Black did not look good. Aear turned back to the old guy and pointed his staff weapon at him. "TA-09 Yuki no Tenshi, Fallen Angel override." Ok so that didn't mean much to these people but Aear was placing himself in charge the only way he knew how. "Help Black. Now." Aear added his own growl, his tail swishing angrily.

Fee was now intrigued. Not exactly happy, or even less afraid, but intrigued nonetheless. She was about to move out from behind Aear when Michael spoke, well, sort of, through the gritted teeth of pain.

He's lying. Fee you're light but he's... Dark like... I can't explain it - ARGH... She looked at him, confused, but worried. Of COURSE she was light; she was Irish, what else was she meant to be?! However, she knew Dr. Black to be normally quite logical, so his nonsense worried her. She looked at him again; the pain was worsening for him. Damn.

So what do we do? She asked, in a whisper...well, as much of a whisper as she could manage, given her accent and everything.

What... What is happening to me? Fee sighed. She wished she knew; not having any answers always annoyed her. She ALWAYS had an answer. She looked to Aear, Elly, and Mikere.

He needs to get the infirmary. SOON. Aear, I hate to ask, but... She trailed off. If nothing else, maybe Aear could dimensional fold them, or whatever, to the infirmary. He'd need it, too, and Doc Harrison had that handheld device thing. She sighed, and stood, to pace. Pacing helped her to think-when she sat too long, she got too caught up in her own head, and that was usually dangerous.

I'm changing aren't I?...Stop him. Fee just nodded when he looked at her. She didn't know what to do. Panic started to set in, but she fought the feeling. She did what she could; got her first aid kit out again, and gave Black another ibuprofen, and some water. She kissed his head like a mum might, and then told him to be quiet and rest.

As she stood to do what SHE could, Aear interuppted.

TA-09 Yuki no Tenshi, Fallen Angel override..Help Black. Now. Fee tugged at him, lightly.

Don't hurt yourself more...there's no space in me bag for you THIS time. Let me. She approached the strange man...maybe whatever helped her to work the doors would also help her to fight this strange man. She touched him, and the panel lit up. She dropped her hand...what was happening?!

The situation had escalated somewhat in the past few minutes. Aear was threatening the alien, Dorane. The group could all agree something was not right with this 'ancient'.
"TA-09 Yuki no Tenshi, Fallen Angel override..Help Black. Now." said Aear.
"Don't hurt yourself more...there's no space in me bag for you THIS time. Let me." Fee pleaded with Aear. Michael couldn't take it anymore, the pain and the noise was growing unbearable, he had to get out.

The other's voices sounded very far away, Michael could barely understand them over the roar of noise that now hounded him. His spine felt compacted, he hunched over clutching his head in agony. The others were yelling it seemed, Dorane merely stood and observed. He grabbed at Glavish's clothing and then stumbled backward, someone tried to help him, he shrugged them off.
"I can't- I have to go." The noise was rising up into a crescendo and Michael was scared of what would happen when it reached the finale. Maybe he was changing or maybe he was just plain going crazy!? Either way, he didn't want to hurt any of them.

Somebody cried out to him, something about getting help and staying still. They reached for his arm, Michael stepped sideways out of the way, moving un-naturally fast. 
"You, you have to get out of here. I can't-" His mind was being confronted by a wave of noise, like a hurricane in his head. His own thoughts, his memories, who he was was all fading into the whirlwind. He held on just long enough to shrug off his flak jacket full of useful gear the group might need. He stooped to set down his gun. Then he ran.

Michael Black was gone.

She like the rest were still puzzled as to how Dr Black could feel devices and was caused pain by them, it was certainly not normal but normal was something they had all discarded when they all agreed to know and be part of all of this, something she felt she knew now was that perhaps everything was possible, possible in different ways and through different methods, but the feelings in the room were changing they were becoming far more hostile and stand offish to the Ancient.

Keeping up with him was getting harder, it was almost like he was testing them, testing her ability to see what was just in front of them, maybe he was wondering if they were worth working with, or maybe he had a hidden agenda, she couldn't be sure. Fiona said something about it being her communications array, she was sure it was just who felt who owned the damn thing and in all honesty that wasn't her concern it was some of things he was looking up, namely things they had inputted into the cities computers, changed, turned on or off, and the Zed PM status. She was getting the idea he was checking them out in a a sense one looks at an aggressive ape.

"Aye, keeps us busy. Elly 'ere does the translations, then I enter the data, and the rest of the science team does the...science parts. We're meant to get power up. It's out base-wide, and I'd rather be dog-wide of the Koane...or whatever they are." Elly was flattered by her comment, mostly she just found things of interest to her and hoped someone else particularly Glavish approved others and or herself looking into them, but mostly she was finding things to be put through the computers while waiting for results on her own research and a few hours a week was specially devoted to the translation, she was hardly an expert, certainly on the level of Doctor Jackson or Black, though Black was getting worse and worse.

Thinking about him he then said something in extreme agony before doubling over. "He's lying. Fee you're light but he's... Dark like... I can't explain it - ARGH!" Elly stepped back from Dorane as Black kept move more and more she missed the first bits but heard him snarl, she looked at him wide eyed before Aear said something and aimed the staff weapon at Dorane. "TA-09 Yuki no Tenshi, Fallen Angel override. Help Black. Now." Elly Stepped back before shaking her head and raised her P90 at Dorane. 

Fiona then spoke to Aear but something on Dorane's screen caught her attention he was accessing the power grid, but as Black started up again, about what was happening to him he stood and watched she was shocked, he was just going to stand their. Elly move across the room and as Blacks tumbled back tried to grab him, he shrugged her off, but it was powerful, so powerful she tripped on a platform and landed on her ass as he said something else. 

"You, you have to get out of here. I can't-" Black then removed his gear as he began move back out of the room, the flak jacket looked far rroe worn than it should, out of shape almost and so did black as she caught a glimpse of him running through the tunnel as she shone the P90's flashlight at him and down the tunnel, he was oddly proportioned and moved with a speed inhuman, but familiar, the Koan, if that's what they really were. She looked back at the 'Ancient' before standing up and running at him, pressing the P90 to his chest she pushed him towards a wall. 

"What the hell is going on, I saw you in the power systems, I figure you weren't exactly a good ancient, That's why you were in the stasis pod hooked up to its own power supply. to keep you imprisoned." Now she jsut hoped he wasn't too highly evolved and had any powers, or their day was going to go from bad to probably dead.

Fiona was rapidly growing as irritated with the strange being as she'd been-and still was-with Glavish. He wasn't listening, and he was messing with HER codes. Not many people, except probably Elly and MAYBE Glavish (once he earned back her respect for him) could, but only because they, too, were trained. Even Blueberry, who, while technically under Fee's tutelage, DID NOT TOUCH THE CODES. But more than that, she had few friends here, and only the two who stood next to her-Aear and Elly-were the closest thing. And Michael was an enigma...she wasn't sure if it was friends or what Dr. Harrison called "fondness". She felt like that was code for something, but she didn't know what, exactly. The Psychologist had a way of skirting around things.

I can't- I have to go.You, you have to get out of here. I can't- Fee watched, bewildered, as Black disappeared. He'd truly lost his mind...and that motivated HER to get hers back on. She backed away quickly, grabbing Aear as Elly took over for her.

What the hell is going on, I saw you in the power systems, I figure you weren't exactly a good ancient, That's why you were in the stasis pod hooked up to its own power supply. to keep you imprisoned.. Fee rummaged through her knapsack, extracting an HDMI cable, some rope, and some tape from her bag. She looked at Aear, and whispered urgently.

Go make sure Black is ok. Then come back. I have a plan. At that, she crossed to Glavish and Hopper.

You, she addressed Glavish. Work on undoing whatever he just did. You, she pointed to Hopper are going to help me tie HIM she pointed to Dorane to this 'ere chair. THEN he can be transported upstairs where he can be dealt with. She moved towards the chair, readying it.

Glavish paid attention to Dorane's words as the man spoke, but more importantly to his physical actions.  He watched as the man worked on the ancient computer and began to navigate through its systems.  He also paid attention to what the man had said allowed.  He had mentioned the Koan, as well as the fact that they were a nocturnal species... at least at some point.  It made sense, considering they had horded in from below the city.  Glavish's mind attempted to search for some way to use that information to their advantage.  However, he also couldn't ignore Michael's degrading condition.  In fact, it was the one topic that Dorane seemed to be rather quiet about.

"He's lying. Fee you're light but he's... Dark like... I can't explain it - ARGH!"

Michae's words hadn't been ignored, despite their concern for his health.  Fee went to his aid, attempting to see about him and do what she could for him.  Meanwhile, Aear seemed to act to at least stifle what Dorane had been up to. 

"You, you have to get out of here. I can't-"

Glavish had been about to make his way towards the vacant computer before he felt Michael tug on his clothes. It seemed that he was reaching a breaking point, fighting something back that he could barely control. Of course, it also appeared to be a fight that Michael was losing.

"What the hell is going on, I saw you in the power systems, I figure you weren't exactly a good ancient, That's why you were in the stasis pod hooked up to its own power supply. to keep you imprisoned," Clark said.  Elly had acted on Black's words, grabbing her P90 and training it on the ancient as she she secured him against an adjacent wall from where he stood.

Seizing the opening, Glavish ventured forward towards the computer, his fingers dancing like lightning across the keyborad.  His mind, replaying what he'd seen Dorane do, the so-called langauge barrier an after thought, especially after he asked the computer to translate to basic.  It didn't take long before he could hear Fee once again barking orders.  He closed his eyes.  What he wouldn't give for a sock and a roll of duct tape right now.

"Go make sure Black is okay. Then come back," Fee said to Aear, "I have a plan."  She then found the time to bark orders in his direction. "You, work on undoing whatever he just did."

"What the hell does it look like I'm doing," Glavish snapped with a hint of annoyance he chose not to hide.  His eyes were glued to the screen as he entered the city's power systems.  "Now, let's turn on the lights...." His voice trailed and the faint lines of smirk began to cross his face.  "And they say only a deity can do it?  Well... I say... let their be light!"  Glavish programmed the city's lights to illuminate to approximately 81% of their intensity which along with the solid light emitters in every room would practically illuminate each room to daylight levels.  Glavish only hoped that the artificial light would be enough to push the Koan out.  Of course, he didn't want them simply to scamper for whatever cover or darkness they could find like roaches.  So, he had to access the life signs scattered about the city.  He did his best to erect security fields and walls that would hopefully lead to exits... as he tried to guide them out of the city and hopefully to the least populated areas.  Granted, there was a slight time delay, but Glavish's hands worked feverishly to eliminate that single quirk.

He glanced back over his shoulder.  "We need to find a way to immobilize, Black," Glavish said.  He had his suspicions about what was going on.  It seemed obvious that Black had been infected with something.  Glavish hoped that it wasn't an infection that would lead to any permanent changes.  His eyes looked over at Dorane.  "He's becoming one of them, isn't he?"  He didn't wait for the answer before pushing to the next.  "Tell us how to reverse it, or I'll give you a crash course in Terran firearms... specifically how they relate to force and resistance: The force of a bullet's momentum... and the resistance you skull will provide."  Glavish had stopped typing and was now glaring in Dorane's direction.  His eyes left for only a single moment as he noticed Black's sidearm.  He knelt down and picked up the gun, holding it in his hand before lifting his eyes at Dorane once more.

The following few moments had confused Dorane somewhat. These creatures were so violent in their reactions. One of them, no two of them now were pointing weapons at him. He sighed as he was pushed away from the control console by the one who had asked him the most interesting and engaging questions so far. It mattered not, he had done what he needed to do. The group's attention was temporarily distracted as the one they called 'Dr. Black' seemed to change in front of their very eyes. He took off his gear and set off at a run out of the room. Dorane titled his head in interest.

"What the hell is going on, I saw you in the power systems, I figure you weren't exactly a good ancient, That's why you were in the stasis pod hooked up to its own power supply. to keep you imprisoned."
One of them had spoken to him.
"I did not say I was an ancient," it was only fair that he replied to the inferior being's curiosities, "you merely assumed based on the circumstances you found me in. True, I have been alive for a very, very long time." He sighed and allowed his gaze to sweep the room, "And yes, in a sense this has been my prison, my tomb. The work I have begun needs to be finished, for the sake of my people. That is where your 'Doctor Black' comes in. His reaction to the genes has proved very useful, very interesting indeed..."
Dorane watched with a vague interest as the one they referred to as Doctor Glavish was working on his terminal. He'd now brought the lights back up across the city, which was a great shame. The Koan hated the light, they'd surely become even more scared and aggressive. He noticed Glavish bring up force fields and close off various rooms, in effect shepherding the Koan out of the city. It was a very clever move for a lesser being, he had to admit.

"He's becoming one of them, isn't he?" The man was referring to Black, "Tell us how to reverse it, or I'll give you a crash course in Terran firearms... specifically how they relate to force and resistance: The force of a bullet's momentum... and the resistance you skull will provide."
Dorane sighed, the game was up, and it was up far quicker than he had anticipated. Time to reveal his hand.
"How astute of you Mr. Glavish. You see, the Koan are my people, and I am to be their savior. The one they called Lilith built this very room we are stood in, she brought me to this planet and she and I experimented to achieve artificial ascension in various beings; animals, birds... And when I tried to follow her work on my people, she took a dislike to me, much like you have now," he said with a hint of venom in his voice, "She placed me in stasis. As a result of the unfinished work, my people became what they are today. On account of a flawed manipulation of the Alteran Gene, they now react adversely to being in the very presence of ancient technology, much like your friend has. Thankfully, a few months ago your people arrived and awoke both myself and Lilith's assistant, Almeda. With her help I've managed to continue my work and, be he willing or not, I have located a suitable test subject." Dorane  heard the safety click off on several guns, his words had obviously angered Glavish and the others, he needed to tread lightly.

Dorane's eyes narrowed as his gaze swept across the group.
"You are clearly a resemblance of the descendants of the ones you call 'ancient'. Perhaps it is not good fortune for you then that I went to the Alterans for help with my people. They turned me away at first, but reluctantly they agreed to help. They betrayed me. Any attempts they made to stabilize the damage already done failed, they only made the situation worse. My people were destroyed."
He stopped talking and visibly relaxed.
"Now that I have been fully open and honest with you, it is time for me to impart one last fact upon you," he said, a smile creeping across his face, "in focusing on restoring the natural flow of power, and erecting those clever little force fields to lead me people out onto the surface, you forgot one key feature." The realization swept across Glavish' face, "oh yes. The barrier has now failed." He smiled.

Almost on cue, the barking howling and hollering began again at an unbearable volume as a horde of Koan burst into the room through the bottle-neck archway and into the room. The group opened fire. Dorane ran. He slipped through the pack unharmed, a Koan threw itself in between Dorane and the gunfire from one of the group and fell with an almighty screech as the man escaped into the darkness of the caverns beyond.

Aear closed his eyes. Fortunately, everyone was too busy to notice the change in him. Internally, his Linker Core swapped with another. Externally, his body language and voice shifted. His body language became far more confident and his voice took on a surprisingly feminine tone. She lowered his staff weapon and folded her arms as she listened. It wasn't long before Black ran out of the room. Dorane's explanation left too many holes for her liking. It brought more questions than it did answers.

It was the smile that gave away his hand to her. Unlike Aear, her magic wasn't damaged, she simply wasn't often around to use it. She raised her hand and formed a violet magic circle towards the exit. A ball of magical energy formed in the center of the circle. "Diabolic..." Fortunately for Dorane, it wasn't a quick charging spell. Whilst the others held the Koan off he was able to slip past them as they provided him cover. She'd find and question him later however, she had more pressing concerns for the moment. "...Buster." A beam of violet energy burst from the magic circle taking the rest of the Koan with it.

"Well, now that that's settled. Glavish, scan the city for pheromones. We appear to have a signal from Miss Yagami. Elly, i'd like you to stay here and figure out why that..." She pointed at the ZPM. "...seems to generate significant amounts of power but yet is unable to power proper lighting throughout the city. Fiona, I will cover you as you rescue and attempt to treat Doctor Black. I believe you have the most knowledge and experience dealing with Earthican biology." She gently directed Fee out of the room with her. "Omoishiroi."

Hopper was unsure of what happened. One moment he was shooting at something. The next, everything went dark. He didn't know how long he had been out. He was just waking up. Still disoriented, he looked around. He found himself in a cave? The Lieutenant sat up. He moved his hands, and felt that his HK-417 was still on him, strapped to his chest.

He looked around. It was dark, but he could make out the shape of a man. The Lieutenant stood up and approached the guy. What followed was a struggle. The pair exchanged punches, but the other guy was stronger than Hopper. Thomas was down now. The man approached him. Thomas retracted his legs and kicked the guy as he jumped on him.

He quickly took out his sidearm and shot it several times. Thomas jumped up again, and ran after the now running man. Who- or whatever he was, he was damn fast. For several minutes, he followed it. They seemed to be heading towards the city. He was already seeing signs of the structure.

Fee was now beyond "annoyed" and was fast moving to "Puss faced"-a VERY pissed off person. She was going to have a carry-on with Glavish if he didn't shut his gob.

What the hell does it look like I'm doing. It LOOKED like he was being a Culchie, actually, but she was too mad to speak. Now, let's turn on the lights....And they say only a deity can do it? Well... I say... let their be light. Fee had tapped into the comms system, FINALLY.

Comms are up. She watched as Elly moved as Glavish told her to. Later, they'd have to have a chat about ladies and what happened when ladies gave men too much power, but now was not the time.

How astute of you Mr. Glavish. You see, the Koan are my people, and I am to be their savior. The one they called Lilith built this very room we are stood in, she brought me to this planet and she and I experimented to achieve artificial ascension in various beings; animals, birds... And when I tried to follow her work on my people, she took a dislike to me, much like you have now...

Probably because you're a total d-6 wanker... she muttered to Aear, who had relayed that Black was nowhere around. She noticed something then, and made to move towards the chamber when Dorane spoke again.

In focusing on restoring the natural flow of power, and erecting those clever little force fields to lead me people out onto the surface, you forgot one key feature...oh yes. The barrier has now failed. She let out an audible sigh and a noise akin to a scream before she aimed her stapler at Glavish. He'd better fix and do it NOW or SHE would, and with a lot of Irish cursing and maybe some dead people. Two things these people needed to get, and get now-she was a mad Irish ginger, and she was NOT kidding.

She was about to give them all what-for when noise started. The Koan appearead, and Aear reacted in a way that Fee had never seen before.

Diabolic......Buster. At that, a circle of violet light spread through the room, taking the Koan with it. She looked at Aear. He spoke to her.

Well, now that that's settled. Glavish, scan the city for pheromones. We appear to have a signal from Miss Yagami. Elly, i'd like you to stay here and figure out why that......seems to generate significant amounts of power but yet is unable to power proper lighting throughout the city. Fiona, I will cover you as you rescue and attempt to treat Doctor Black. I believe you have the most knowledge and experience dealing with Earthican biology. Fee nodded, and got her bag. She followed Aear out of the room. As they passed the pod room, she noticed something amiss. She raised her voice, and yelled.

Elly! Get to the pod room. She stopped Aear, Black and Hopper would be fine another mo. Elly could handle this. She waited for the woman to appear.

]Look, Elly. It's still active. We can deactivate it. Give me your gun. Fee was feeling the gas, and took the younger womans P-90, aimed it at the pod, and fired. She handed the weapon back, calm, and then looked to Aear.

Let's go find Dr. Black. He'll need A&E. The two left, leaving Elly behind with Glavish, and made their way here...

The others were still at it as she held Dorane to the wall she watched him for any sign of an advanced power, if he started he was going to get shot, hopefully he wouldn't have enough time to react and end up dead, but only time would tell. She glanced over her shoulder and Glavish was already at the terminal trying to figure it all out, after all a P90 was a better deterrent than an M9.

"Go make sure Black is okay. Then come back," Maccafferty said to Aear as this all went down, they had to find him, if they didn't he was going to be in worse shape than them all.  "I have a plan.You, work on undoing whatever he just did." Fiona then turned her attention to Doctor Glavish.

Glavish snapped back at Fee but Elly looked back at Dorane as Glavish replied his words and tone as indignant as ever. "What the hell does it look like I'm doing, Now, let's turn on the lights...." there was a slight pause as he enter commands into the terminal "And they say only a deity can do it? Well... I say... let their be light!" the lights in the room went up a little more, she kept her attention on Dorane for know but it was the seeming comfortableness of with his situation.

She cursed in Czech as Dorane replied. "I did not say I was an ancient, you merely assumed based on the circumstances you found me in. True, I have been alive for a very, very long time. And yes, in a sense this has been my prison, my tomb. The work I have begun needs to be finished, for the sake of my people. That is where your 'Doctor Black' comes in. His reaction to the genes has proved very useful, very interesting indeed..." the physicists grip on her weapon tightened she'd been so stupid to presume he was an Ancient, if they got out of this she'd sure get a tearing, but all that mattered was helping Dr Black, if they could undo it they would if not, she was sure he wouldn't, weather or not she was the one that ended him was a different story.

When Glavish directed himself to Dorane, Clark just kept the barrel of the P90 pointed to his chest as she stepped back a little. , it was still very settling how unworried he seemed to be.

"He's becoming one of them, isn't he? Tell us how to reverse it, or I'll give you a crash course in Terran firearms... specifically how they relate to force and resistance: The force of a bullet's momentum... and the resistance you skull will provide." That was quite more lengthy than it needed to be, however the picture it painted was oddly satisfying.

And when I tried to follow her work on my people, she took a dislike to me, much like you have now," He was the one they needed, maybe if they could hold him, they would be able to convince the Koan to stop attacking and leave the city, but now they needed to probably return him to stasis, but that would probably be a lot harder than stuffing him in, he seemed smart enough to know a way out of all their imprisonments, he played the long con, a short term bump was nothing, it was all the big picture.

"She placed me in stasis. As a result of the unfinished work, my people became what they are today. On account of a flawed manipulation of the Alteran Gene, they now react adversely to being in the very presence of ancient technology, much like your friend has. Thankfully, a few months ago your people arrived and awoke both myself and Lilith's assistant, Almeda. With her help I've managed to continue my work and, be he willing or not, I have located a suitable test subject." Elly cycled the selector to fully automatic.

"You are clearly a resemblance of the descendants of the ones you call 'ancient'. Perhaps it is not good fortune for you then that I went to the Alterans for help with my people. They turned me away at first, but reluctantly they agreed to help. They betrayed me. Any attempts they made to stabilize the damage already done failed, they only made the situation worse. My people were destroyed." If they were anything like him, from what he just described, they hadn't seemed to go far in morals and right and wrong.

"Now that I have been fully open and honest with you, it is time for me to impart one last fact upon you," Dorane smiled "in focusing on restoring the natural flow of power, and erecting those clever little force fields to lead me people out onto the surface, you forgot one key feature." They all thought a series of very bad things that probably all ended with their own evisceration. "oh yes. The barrier has now failed." Doctor Clark turned toward the tunnel leading back to the main room. 

The screeches and roars of the Koan frightened Elly but with no where to run he pulled the trigger as they appeared in passage. She saw Dorane run into the pack and fired at him, but only hit a sacrificing Koan, she then continued to fire into the pack as they kept coming, all was lost.

There was a bright beam of violet energy and Elly looked away letting go of the trigger. a Few seconds later she opened her eyes again, albeit slowly. She looked over at Aear, who seemed different, but the same, and the koan were dead, all of them, it looked like an energy weapon but none of them had... it clicked Aear had cast some of his 'magic' , that sure was a good time to use it, when they were all packed into a nice confined space, and convenient too.

"Well, now that that's settled. Glavish, scan the city for pheromones. We appear to have a signal from Miss Yagami. Elly, i'd like you to stay here and figure out why that..." Aear pointed at the ZPM. "...seems to generate significant amounts of power but yet is unable to power proper lighting throughout the city. Fiona, I will cover you as you rescue and attempt to treat Doctor Black. I believe you have the most knowledge and experience dealing with Earthican biology." Aear's voice was different, a side effect of the magic?

"Elly! Get to the pod room." As they began to move Fiona called for her. Elly jogged after them. "What is i..." Fiona cut her off. "Look, Elly. It's still active. We can deactivate it. Give me your gun." Elly raised an eyebrow and when Fiona grabbed her P90 she let go.

Fee took her P90 and fired at the stasis pod, she wasn't sure why but I guess to make sure it couldn't be used again. Elly took the weapon back from her and have them a nod as they went off after Black. Elly quickly went back into the room. "I'd venture a guess that ZedPM isn't plugged into the cities main power grid." Elly looked strangely sheepishly at Glavish, she so hoped she still had a job after this.

Elly was brilliant, of this, Fiona was sure. The woman might even be smarter than Fiona herself, unlikely though that was. She would be fine handling this, and if she didn't kill Glavish her ownself, she was sure the man would give Elly the next day off.

What is i.. Fee handed her her weapon back, with a LOOK to the woman. She nodded once; Elly would know what to do. Elly was one of the few that Fee didn't need to sthingyfeed things to. She appreciated that, and the younger woman's dedication. Even if she DID have an affinity for Glavish, Elly Clark was OK.

Good luck, Dr. Clark. She said, as she and Aear went off to find Michael.
