SM-1 Episode 5 - "The Enemy Within"

Ahrima and I are the closest to the direction that Banks went. We'll go. Send a team into the forest. I am not ASKING, Eastlyn, ship me back home, but there is a serious amount of damage out there. Ahrima and I will head West; we could use a few more guns...

It seemed the decision had been made. Ahrima nodded in agreement. It wasn't that she thought the mission would fail with the two of them not helping Mulholland's team. After all, Daniel Jackson was there, and the members of SG-1 were all known as great warriors. Where they were needed was with Captain Evans and Doctor Banks. It was a quick sprint before a Tau'ri land vehicle came into view. It was what they called a Jeep. It bore the markings of the Australian military. Though, that did little to dissuade either Maggie or Ahrima from moving towards it and liberating it. With the keys in ignition, it soon began to roar to life as Maggie sent the wheels spinning and the vehicle soon matched the speed of the wheel's rotations. As they raced through the forest, a portion of it burning to their left, a single tree aflame began to fall over their path. Ahrima felt the vehicle's throttle increase as Maggie forced the vehicle to go faster. Racing under the falling tree, it came to a crash behind them. Ahrima looked over her shoulder and then back at Maggie. Her glare soon turned into an approving nod. "You pilot this vehicle exceptionally well," she remarked.

"Soon, the burning forest fell behind them, and a disturbance in the brush stood out to the Jaffa. "There!" Ahrima said pointing up ahead. The jeep began to slow and as it did, the wreckage of the SUV that Evans and Banks had presumably been in fell into view. It had crashed below in the ravine. Up ahead seemed a path that they could travel along on foot. Ahrima stepped out of the vehicle and began to move as quickly as she could along the path, knowing that Maggie was just behind her if not beside her. As they got to the jeep, Ahrima's eyes noticed that no one was inside. Her eyes then found the path in the dirt. It was hardly a sign of one walking away. Injured or dragged. Her eyes soon found the Captain on his knees. Ahrima didn't hesitate. She raised her weapon and fired three shots announcing their presence. Each bullet lined the ground alongside Hanaan's feet.

"You will step away from Captain Evans, or you will cease to exist," Ahirma said. To her the situation was simple. The Wraith's proximity was an immediate threat to Captain Evans... one that she was prepared to remove if necessary. She had clearly missed on purpose that time. When she next squeezed the trigger, she would find her target, whether it be Hanaan or one of the cloaked figures behind her.

It was fair to say the excrement had made it's way directly to the fan down in the cave network. The team were trapped in the main chamber, their only exit was a door that opened into a raging forest fire, and the Cult of Lilith were now fighting back with all they had. Kalashnikov's, Daniel recognized the weapons, had to be from black market arms dealers. The SG-1 member had been trying to get the speaker system to work after a stray bullet had blown one of the amps. Both Mulholland and Reynold's teams were doing a decent enough job at keeping the Cult at bay, having barricaded the two tunnels running off the chamber and shooting anything that came forward. It seemed like there were hordes of them however, and the odd Wraith would stray through, seemingly unphased by the Earth bullets. Daniel glanced up and down the left hand tunnel, one of them was feeding on a fallen slave just out of cover, he watched as it finally raised it's head and looked up at him. It wasn't a Wraith, it looked more human, lacking the typical vents under the eyes, but yet it looked pale and boney, and the hair was white and matted. He felt almost a pang of sorrow for the being, whatever the "awakening" virus was, Daniel had to stop it.

Click! Finally, the system roared to life with a whine as the electricity began to flow once more. Dr. Jackson picked up the microphone and began to sing, a calm and well practiced melody to a Hebrew nursery rhyme.
"Senoy, Sansenoy, Samangelof..." His theory was working as the chamber gently vibrated with a pleasant harmony, "Senoy, Sansenoy, Samangelof..." he paused again. Glancing down the tunnel Jackson noticed the wraith hybrid he'd seen, it was staggering backwards desperately clutching it's temples.
"Senoy, Sansenoy, Samangelof." He gestured for the rest of them to join in, slowly they began to join his chorus, "Senoy, Sansenoy, Samangelof." Jackson watched as the wraith hybrid fell to the ground and lay still, it was working! It was actually working! Lilith's fail safe was true, he didn't know what exactly it was doing, he hoped it was a peaceful way to go, but more importantly they could all see that the Cult were being neutralized. The teams began to advance down into the caves, kicking the weapons away from the hybrids as they fell before them. Victory, at last.

"You will step away from Captain Evans, or you will cease to exist," Ahrima's words were firm, and she meant them, but it had all become clear now to Captain Dominic Evans.
"Wait!" He said, slowly getting to his feet. Dom tentatively felt his chest as he rose, he felt AMAZING. 110% if that was possible. Carefully he looked Ahrima in the eye and lowered her gun. "These people Ahrima, they helped me... And I think..." He looked at Pandora, now being cradled gently on the ground by one of Hanaan's people. He smiled,
"I think she's going to be just fine with Hanaan."

After the weapons had been lowered and a brief exchanged of thank yous, Dominic noticed Hanaan suddenly raise her hand, her head tilting to one side in concentration. She produced a handful of ear plugs from her pocket and begin to hand them to her colleagues wordlessly. Dom paused, frowning and looked to Ahrima. Faintly, on the breeze, he could hear a noise coming from a nearby cave entrance. It was Jackson's voice!
SENOY, SANSENOY, SAMANGALOF!

It grew louder and louder by the moment and he watched as Hanaan and the cloaked figures knelt carefully, clutching their ears. One of them covered Pandora's and they waited... Waiting until the sound was over and it was safe to unblock their ears once more.

Finally, it was done. The Cult had been eliminated and there was nothing more to say. Placing himself between Ahrima and the others, Dominic gently shook Hanaan's hand, the same hand that as capable of taking or restoring life. The two locked eyes and Hanaan bowed before releasing her grip. The group picked up Pandora and set off back into the forest without so much as a goodbye. Dominic had chills running up and down his spine. Earth's silent saviors, waiting until the Cult would try to rise again and giving mankind the tools to strike them down. It was done. They were safe.
